    This woman was the mother of rock and roll. Out of her genius, was the inspiration for Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry and so many greats.

      @@tikabass Yes, but I do not think she was at her peak at a young age. She is said to have accompanied her mother on their performances, but certainly got even better with increasing age and routine.
      In any case, a fantastic singer and guitarist for me and probably more completely unknown here in Sweden in any case. Thanks for your reply.

      @@seriksson9721 Rosetta was gathering crowds playing guitar and siging the gospel at age 4. And touring/headlining with her mother at age 6, billed as a ‘singing and guitar playing miracle’. She was 8 years old when Chuck Berry was born.

      She was a gospel artist. She didn't help invent rock and roll, which was a sacrilegious joke that consisted of performing black jump blues as if it were black gospel, meaning sex and partying are _our_ religion. The big beat, e.g., was added to the jump blues to make the joke clear because a big beat had previously been associated with gospel. "Butcher Pete" by Roy Brown 1949 is an example of rock and roll and he was one of the inventors of rock and roll.

    Ridiculous that she's not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - shoulda been one of the very first legends in there ! On a side note, I saw Willie Dixon in Vancouver BC with the Chicago All-stars in about 1975, I was only 18 & snuck into the club under age. Even though I drank many beers, I never will forget that thrilling night !

      Clive Minchin She received a greater honor: Tharpe's 1944 hit "Down By The Riverside" was selected for the American Library of CongressNational Recording Registry in 2004, with the citation stating that it captured her "spirited guitar playing" and "unique vocal style", which were an influence on early rhythm and blues performers, as well as gospel, jazz, and rock artists.

    This woman was the best man what a talent. This is all her no computer crap pure talent. She was the first inspiration to Elvis. He use to go and see her in Local concerts when he was young and he sat in the back just taking it all in. Thank you Rosetta.

    SISTER ROSETTA!!!!! If it wasn't for her, there would be no rock and roll, no Elvis, no Carl Perkins, not MOTOWN, no Beatles no ROlling Stones.........she just didn't travel down and up the MS RIver, she travelled extensively in Britain and influced the later "British Invasion" ......she IS a LEGEND few folks have heard of....
    This is the FIRST recording I have ever seen of her that was recorded in LIVING COLOR!

    She makes all the blues hippies from my generation look like idiots. What a crime it was to rip off these brilliant blues players and sell millions of records to kids like me.     I'm currently reading "White Bicycles" by Joe Boyd, who was road manager for this European Tour, before he became the man in British music. He gives a fascinating account of the great artists on the tour. Worth reading. And I recently saw Jeff Tweedy of Wilco playing a very similar guitar (Jesus etc, HD-Rave channel). I think it's a rare Gibson Barney Kessel - nice axe.
