That was easily some of the absolute best guitar playing I have ever heard. Sure, I have heard people play that well, but they were professionals and I was listening to their recordings....never have I heard someone play song after song, jamming, and sounding so good that I could swear I was just listening to an album. Man, I need to go to bed, but now I feel like I need to practice!
Yeah! I was watching a review for another guitar and then this vid automatically popped up. I was looking at a different window at the time and was like OMG!!! what is the beautiful sound? Phenomenal
I absolutely LOVE my Taylor GS mini!! I have the Koa wood w/electronics & I am blown away every single time I play it. It definitely outshines my full size fender acoustic electric. Thanks for posting this! 🎸
I can't remember how many times have i watched this video. I'll be so proud if I can play 2/3 level like you. BTW, change your title to "Why you should get to practice" is much proper in this case lol
I love this guitar I went in to the guitar shop with some money I earned from one week of 12 hour shifts and was looking for my first travel guitar since I travel much. And I went through Martin guitars fenders yamahas Ibanez but this guitar had such an amazing tone for its size and playing this felt so responsive and nice. I recommend this guitar strongly
This vid will be the reason why i will buy this guitar, sequence between 3:05 - 4:20, specifically. Although i will never get there playing it, but hey why not give a try :) Great vid
The Taylor GS Mini Mahogany is a great guitar!!! I have one and it is such an awesome sounding guitar. I didn't care for the other styles though but the Mahogany had the best sound (in my opinion).
I'm considering this guitar for my small hands and watching this makes me realize the instrument will not be the limiting factor. Wish I could buy your skill too :)
P.S, I own this same guitar in mahogany and it's amazing! SUPERB bang for the buck! You really can't get a better quality and better sounding guitar in this size category. Just amazing!
Damn awesome playing dude! In my search for details about the GS mini I stumbled upon your video. Will surely learn those melody, you've just inspired me to learn something new.
Your giving that little baby a proper going over there Jean! Sounds great Man. Yep, after watching this I'm definitely buying one of these Tiny mahogany beast's. Nice playing - Big thanks......
I’ve got mine since 3 weeks, one day after watching your amizing video, and my ovation stay in her box, I can’t put my GS mini e-walnut down.....what hooooot sound, Thx for all 🤩
I have the mahogany model also...what I really like is that the neck is great for someone like me...small hands. This has one of the best necks I have ever tried to play. Like you said...great sound.
Jean, this is the best guitar review I've ever seen, you cover so many different styles in a very professional manner. I own a Taylor GS8 which I love but I'm picking up the Taylor mini tomorrow, I will fit it with a Fishman pickup and gig with it. I love Taylor guitars but I'm not a fan of their elaborate ES System.
You have to love the tone of the "Parlor-Guitar," its tone-woods are really brought out in this size instrument, more so than with the large-sized guitars, in my humble opinion... I'm not so sure I prefer the mahogany top wood over the spruces or not...it takes a bit of getting used to, but it does have a very distinctive mid-range sound. For this price range, it is a tremendous value buy in though..I believe I paid around 1K for my Parlor-Guitar that was hand crafted by a western Montana Luthier of native woods he harvested from trees on his property...a walnut tree that was a result of a lightning strike provide some interesting combinations when mixed with maple for the neck... The only wood that was an import was the Honduras mahogany used in the neck...doesn't sound a bit better than the Taylor GS-mini
I got the mahogany one and since it bring out the lower/mid tones the size evens it out instead of having the lighter twang like the other light woods and I’m not usually a mahogany type of guy
Awesome playing, I have 4 Taylor's the GS Mini Mahogany being one of them. Really great sounding guitar. I had to pull the bridge saddle and shave it, and do a truss rod adjustment, to get it playing it's best. But it's nothing to difficult to do, and well worth the effort. Love your playing style. Great job on the video and the sound quality also. I really liked it.
Well, after about 6 months of looking at parlor guitars, I bought a mahogany GS Mini straight acoustic in May. I play almost only country / Texas blues like Lightnin Hopkins (not surprising, I am an old Texan). Verdict on the guitar: I LOVE IT. The harder I play, the better it sounds. It’s crazy. Q: You want a great guitar?? A: GET THIS ONE
@@kali3828 EXCELLENT QUESTION. There are some offsetting forces: 1) The shorter scale actually makes the tension less because there is a shorter span to cover is my understanding, 2) that’s why Taylor puts 13’s the mini. The higher gauge strings take more tension but the volume and tone are great for a smaller guitar. 3) The shorter scale makes for a much easier reach. I love it. For quite a bit less cost, you can get either a Gretsch Jim dandy or a recording king dirty 30. Similar size but less tension and less volume for about $170. I have played all three. Either of these two you could take to a bonfire or a beach or camping and worry much less about the cost.
@@andrewbeattieRAB I'm joining pal. I've researched a bit and decided without hesitation. Ordered yesterday now counting hours for it to arrive home :p
Great and inspiring playing! I also own this guitar, and I do concur: This guitar is absolutely amazing for the price. I am so happy I got it. Thank you, Taylor!!
Taylor should pay you for this wonderful demo... I have got my Mini Taylor Koa and it just sounds awsome, the only problem is that in my hand it does’nt sounds like you do😂😂😂. Great job buddy.
Absolutely beautiful playing. I enjoyed every second of that. Especially the last couple minutes. I am picking up a spruce next week. Can't wait to get it in my hands...👍👍👍
Dude, you are my hero! Amazing!!!!! I had a GS Mini just like tthe one you have there. Mine didn't sound anything like that. Maybe because it wasn't you playing it!!?? Amazing job, man! Thanks! Thoroughly enjoyed this video!
+Sarah Baird Hello, I never tried this one, probably good. But I'd recommend to try it, for the sound of course, and finish, see it in reality, because some Koa tops on taylor that I saw (left handed) were.... really bad. Good luck !
You're amazing!!! I love that guitar but MEN!...I would buy tickets to see you play all that in the Gibson j45...You're an Excellent guitar player!!! Greetings from Perú.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, thanks for putting it up, its really hard to find guitar demos/reviews that are properly miked and are thus actually useful when shopping. I played a spruce top one of these in store and couldn't believe the tone for the size. Nice to hear what a skilled player can do on one, cheers! (will try more reverb myself, seems to work) (who am I kidding, its always on 11)
I bought a used one yesterday. The action was too high, so I had to adjust the truss rod to lower it and change the strings. Now it sounds and plays great.
Just tried one of these babies and fell in love immediately, of course, I was definitely not able to get the fantastic tones you’re getting, marvelous playing!
First of all, you're a good guitarist. I recently bought a GS Mini, which I like. I just got a second hand 2014 Martin D Jr and it's on a different league. The Martin (similar travelling size guitar) makes the Taylor sound and feel almost like a toy guitar. I hate to say this but after a week of owning the Taylor I will be taking it back today. The new Martin Jr (I also tried them) are different and don't sound like the old ones (I actually compared them to the Taylor in the store and took the Taylor home.) If you're looking for a travelling guitar, the old Martin D Jr (pre 2019) is really hard to beat (sounds like a regular size Martin guitar.) I also own a Larrivee D-10 which is a different caliber full size guitar and to me has the ideal acoustic guitar tone.
Wow dude, nice demo! I have a LE Taylor 412ce and a Vintage Martin D18 and I use my Mini when I upload most of my videos to RUclips. You can really get your arms around it. I love the smaller scale and yet it has a big sound. And they come with the Expression system electronics now! Even better!

4:20 - 6:01 is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard played on a guitar
Does anyone know what this is or is it an improv? I agree it is sensational.
Yep, I'm curious too
Im not sure but it sounds vaguely like Andy McKee. If you've never heard him, i hiiiighly recommend👌
It kinda sounds like a part from Mom by Buckethead

Don't ever give up.
Maybe you should buy two or even three
Practice 24/7.
Give it to me. Just kidding 😂✌️
I cant do this with mine either, I was thinking of sending it back in case its faulty, it only seems to play open chords :)
Are your skills included with the guitar😂
Just bought one and what a pleasure to play. Sounds great too.
dude what the hell...i clicked to check a guitar sound and i just witness greatness...you are a virtuoso sir...breathtaking sense of musicality
