Today, I try to not lose my mind as I get the hardest achievement in this video game and become the greatest Spec Ops: The Line player of all time. Did it work?.. Not really.
This achievement was honestly pretty fun though, highly recommend If you enjoy pain.

This spec ops the line achievement definitely broke my brain, and the playthrough shattered my dreams, but at least I have all of you guys :)

I was thinking the same thing. I still don't know how I did it when I was like 14. I didn't know at that time that it was infamously difficult, but I definitely felt the rage.

This difficulty single handily convinced me blind firing is a good mechanic.

This game used the novel Heart of Darkness as its base of inspiration, much like how the novel was used to create the movie Apocalypse Now. All great all worth reading, playing and watching.

But.... man, I literally just kept falling asleep trying to get through the first couple parts. It just isn't the style of writing that pulls me in.

This is truly one of my favorite games of all time, it came out of nowhere for me as a teen and really made me question a lot of things. One of the first games I platinumed (Or whatever the xbox equivalent is) and a game I still love to this day.
There's no equivalent to Platinum on Xbox or anywhere.
Saying "Platinumed" is meaningless anyway, because it can mean anything from truly getting 100% to not actually finishing the base game

Sadly, very few Xbox games have the "get all other achievements" achievement, and the ones that do are RIDICULOUSLY hard to obtain(Dark Souls, Catherine, iirc Dragonball Xenoverse)

The best ending is when you wait for rescue, only to start killing everyone and you become what you've been fighting the whole game. Realy nice

Sorry no.'FUBAR' is military slang for "F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition (or Repair)". It is said to be a term that comes from World War II and refers to any situation, or person, that has gone wrong and there is no possibility of repair
I played this game when it released expecting a generic competitor to Gears or something. Wow was I wrong. It is still one of my all time favorite games and it blew my mind.
I have every single achievement in this game.
FUBAR didn't give me much trouble, except when running through a certain hallway while Little Birds are lighting it up.

Same. I didn’t have any problems with my teammates going down. I probably died about 30 times on fubar. He was playing too aggressively for the stream
It’s hilariously frustrating watching Snam be his own worst enemy by running out of cover with multiple enemies in front of him from different angles on the hardest difficulty instead of taking his time. He just gets impatient which leads to more mistakes/deaths.

I remember completing this game on FUBAR difficulty back in 2014. Never had I ever raged as much as I did while playing a video game. I was literally yelling at the screen and pounding on my keyboard out of anger and frustration with how many bs moments I had during my time with the game. Props to you, Snam, for completing this live with an audience on Twitch.
Yeah, iirc the gaming magazine I read back then said the companion AI was the worst thing about the game.

the difficulty really communicates to you how ludicrous it is that walker could even survive past 5 minutes. his cover shooter armor is gone, all you have now is a retry button

Being a massive cash cow was never the fucking point of the game - it was to make a statement and get players to think.
I wasn't trying to imply that they're not allowed to think about profits at all - my point was that shareholders should think about *marketing* the product to the relevant audiences, rather than getting developers to compromise their own creative visions just because "ooh trendy thing make lots of money".

"it's a product, mate, in a business" - a business that is *heavily* influenced by creativity & storytelling, which was the intent of the *developers* - the intent of the *shareholders* is to market the product and make money. Again, never did I state that games aren't allowed to make money - once again, my point was that shareholders should stick to what they know, rather than forcing their own creative visions on dev teams, because they don't work in the creative field.
The "statement" the game makes is intended to be, from my knowledge, a critique on American interventionism in foreign conflicts as well as a critique on the gaming industry (and gamers in general) for glorifying war in videogames (CoD, most especially). Obviously, it's counterproductive from a *financial* standpoint, because war-themed games sell like hot cakes - but once again, videogames have an artistic & creative element; their sole purpose is not to make boatloads of cash. Finances are a driving factor in development, as most everyone would agree with; developers, however, are allowed to make games for other reasons unrelated to making money.
As for what players are supposed to "think" - that's up to the players themselves. They can draw different conclusions about the game, its plot and the message it's trying to convey; they can either take it on board, disregard it as preachy bullshit, or find merits on different sides of the argument.

Awesome video! I always think back on Spec Ops: The Line as an awesome game that was awful to get through, and I probably never want to play again. And that was on normal difficulty! Seeing you play through the hardest difficulty looks stupidly difficult, and I'm incredibly impressed (as always) that you managed to make it through to the end, congrats!

The game constantly asking you to change the difficulty is actually hilarious
I started watching your channel because I also enjoy achievement hunting, it a lot of fun watching someone else try hard achievements you've also done or attempted. I recommend going for the Stormbringer achievement from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, S rank all mission on Revengeance difficulty. Which means beating each rated encounter on the hardest difficulty without getting hit (in most cases) in a reasonable time.
The irony is that fragmentation grenades, are in fact, used to flush targets out of cover so you can get a clear shot of them. That's actual military doctrine, right there.

I can happily say that I got this achievement myself. I feel your pain dude, FUBAR difficulty is fckin' brutal. Most times I just sat in cover, marking enemies for my allies to kill. Took them out one by one. It took forever, but that's the way to do it on FUBAR, because you just can't survive certain encounters without this strategy.
Snamwiches, the man that has completed more Gaming Achievements/Challenges than I've had good days. But seriously, Appreciate all the hard work and love the editing and good vibes.

There was 1 section of my fubar run that literally took me days to finish. Probably one of my favorite achievements I unlocked during the pandemic
Nice, thank God you're playing this game. It was a missed opportunity this game didn't get enough traction but among the people who do are the niche audiences including me. I'm also glad to play and watch the game at 2017 first time.
The FUBAR achievement was frustrating but I did get the 100% on Steam years ago, it was not that worse but definitely tested my mental state.

I love this game so much i got all achievements except =Fubar. I started it and i can safely say there 5 sections in this game that on Suicide mission (The best difficulty for anyone to play on there first playthrough) were brutal
I advise don't use Uzi's or any other gun (Excluding RPG's or the heavy shotgun rifle). The best guns for this difficulty are Ak/Scar-H/the main rifle/shotguns (for close quarters)
