Well you get the picture.

    as you can see , when the volume on the guitar is full up, the distortion is hard full clip, harsh and not full range. This is also an issue with Helix. They need to fix this to have the pedal board warm sounding and good separation between strings. I hope the developers put out a patch to resolve this!

    I really like the touchscreen and general ease of use of this, I love it just for that - but the £1000 price tag doesn't quite sit well with me. To me the sounds are ok but they're not a cut above anything else that's a lot less money so maybe that's why the price seems a little high. Not getting that "TAKE MY MONEY!!" impulse that I thought I'd get. At a guess I would've put this at around the £500 - £600 mark tops.
    Great demo though! :)

    For people asking for comparisons to the Helix, et al., WHAT do you think this sound like? All these units sound different. This seems to have the most organic/analog sound as far as amp models go. I could see using this for DIRECT recording and practice. I have loads of tube amps for live application. However, for an album I recorded last year, I ended up using SOFTWARE based amps, after the producer convinced me to give it a try. Note: I started my home recording adventures with a Fostex Porta One and a Tom Scholz Rockman back in the 80's.

    Hello. Great Video! I'm thinking about buying a Headrush Pedalboard, and I can't help but wonder, why is there so much background noise? I mean you can clearly hear it in the review. I know it can also be influenced by the guitar pickups, but I had a similar problem with a BOSS GT-100. Is there any way to get rid of that noise, except through a noise gate?

    • @mashcot
      @mashcot 6 лет назад

      Hi, I don't have the unit but from what I understand, you should plug it in the return of your amp Fx loop (if it has any), and turn off the cab simulation. If you are using it in front of the amp, you'll probably want to use it as a "regular pedalboard", i.e. don't use any amp and cab sim, just overdrive pedals and effects.

      it sucks. I tried it at Guitar Center and you feel totally disconnected. feels totally wrong. some of the patches sound okay but .....kinda of like a great job at making a fake sound if that makes sense. feels ZERO organic

    • @yourbuddykevin
      @yourbuddykevin 7 лет назад

      Coppulor, I bet if you did a blind listen to real equipment and this effect simulator you wouldn't be able to tell difference.

    • @coppulor6500
      @coppulor6500 7 лет назад

      yourbuddykevin i think you may be correct with some of the patches/models. The lower gain and light breakup blues sounds were very blah though. My main beef, however, isnt the tones, its the feel. The disconnect is bad. I felt very detached from my guitar. Keep in mind i think the feel of my peavey vyper vip 1 is fantastic.....for what it is. It feels great and i get some shockingly good tones. Really surprising cuz i dismissed it initially as a pos toy (got it for free). I've owned everything from a 69 fender super reverb (sold it like a douche but i didnt know better - it was the early 90's too so...), fender pro reverb ri, musicman 1x12 tube amp, blues junior (which i actually do not care for) three reverend hellhounds and on and on. So, not a ton of supwr high end shit but def my share od tube amps including rack tube amps and rack processors. Fender floor which a mustang in pedal form, tons of pedals blah blah blah. When i first tried the eleven rack, it felt horrible. This feels just as detached but sounds better. But the feel of how connected the sound is to your fingers, how responsive everything is in the signal chain......thats my issue with this. Which is why its really not in the average guitar player's consciousness anymore ...already. even the helix is still a hot piece of gear. Vying for attention along with the camper and the fractal stuff. I think the amplifire 12 would be light years better except that the headrush has way etter features and ease of use.

      I understand your opinion. I myself had a helix and ditched it for real gear. But these simulators are seriously super convenient(no amp to lug, plug and play for FOH), and besides no one at a gig will really appreciate your guitar tone except for the handful of dudes who play guitar in the audience.

      yourbuddykevin you did??? Well damn, that blows. I was leaning toward the helix after hearing what pete thorn has done with one. I want a kemper but everyone gushes about how easy the helix is, all the great features, how you can record direct, all the inputs and ouputs blah blah. Ive always been disappointed by line 6 but ive been getting suckered by helix vids lately. "Just when i think I'm out, they pull me back in" LOL.
      And axe fx seems too rabbit holey. Endless tweaking drives me nuts. I like tweaking but only some cuz then i never get anywhere. My experience with some modelers is if you power with tubidge, its a while nuther balls game. It gives you the organic feel that is often missing. At least a good bit of it. Not the case with all like the headrush for instance - i tried it. I was so bummed when i played the fender mustangs when they first came out. So thin and blah. Man i was so excites to try them. What a let down. Omw out the door, sales guy axed me if i knew about the fender floor. I was like wtf is that? He said a mustang but no amp and that maybe i coukd run it through my tube amp and i might like it. And then "you have 30 days to return it" - the favorite phrase at a music store. Espeically GC. So i did and plugged into my hellhound tube head and holy shitballz what a difference! Night and day! Thats why the fender super champ xd is so good. Modeling preamp with tube power amp in a combo. The best line 6 product imo was their tube powered combo - not good enough though. Anyway i was thinking helix rack unit with tube rack amp and foot controller. I really dont understand having all this fancy stuff on the floor. Hasnt anyone played a packed bar or a frat gig? Id have to put barbed wire around a floor unit like this or the helix etc. Plus, i hated bending over all the freakin time to adjust shit. Rack with foot controller makes way more sense to me.
      So woukd you mind explaining why you dumped the helix? Gimme some deets please to help me out. And did you also try the kemper and axe stuff out?

    Are these all just on default settings or did you play with it for hours to get these sweet sounds out of the pedals?

      Great tone is not the default in the Headrush. More like an easter egg you have to hunt for, IMO. But it does have some great sounds. The JTM 45 in there is a really great model. The plexi 50w and Fender Twin as well.

      "More like an easter egg you have to hunt for, IMO"..... that pretty comes with the territory no matter what what gear you have. But for a multi effects unit worth a grand, I don't really hear anything new under the sun.

      How can anyone expect any developer to know what "your" sound will be? I by now have not found any amp or modeler or whatsoever that did sound out of the box like I wanted it to sound. You will always have to either play along with the options, or play acoustic guitar. Factory presets are may be nice to show what is possible, but never will these give what you need on stage or studio.

    Has anyone that has one of these (or used one) found the Wah pedals to be a little shallow? I don't know if there is a way to calibrate or adjust the range on them (yet) ...but I do have it in full function mode (not just opened or closed) ...just seems to be brittle and thin all the way thru

    The LED strips above the buttons are a little small to read. Helix is much larger in that regard. But the touchscreen is wicked. I want Axe Fx II guts in a Helix set up with the Headrush touchscreen. That would be the be all end all device IMO!

      The ground control is no where near the MFC101 is size or features. Plus neither has the led strips above the switches. I just bought a RJM Mastermind GT16 that does the trick.
