    The long list of safety features is truly impressive. Together with the styling, performance, build quality and overall refinement, the car will surely sell as fast as Volvo can make them. That will make a lot of money for Volvo but, equally, many of the buyers will become Volvo loyalists.
    I have a question. When using Pilot Assist with Volvo's current crop of cars, if one removes their hands from the wheel for a certain length of time the car will complain until the driver turns the wheel slightly. Other brands merely require the driver to touch the wheel (capacitive). Which will it be for the EX30?

    • @yourobson

      In my 2020 XC90 I just move, slide, my hand on the steering wheel. No need for moving the steering wheel. Interestingly sometimes it warns me even when I keep my hand on the steering wheel. In such case I just put my hand in different place or put both hands instead of one on the wheel. The hands free riding is super short so I almost never attempt it.

      A little follow-up on this subject after 6 months and a new car. Now I drive EV Volvo XC40 Twin Recharge from 2023 and I must admit that false warnings that I do not keep my hands on the steering wheel are much worse. I get so many false reminders to keep my hands on the steering wheel (while I am keeping both on the steering wheel) that I seldom use Assistive Steering in my XC40. Sadly a major downgrade. Otherwise XC40 is a great car, not very efficient in energy use but overall I like it more than XC90 diesel.

    I understand that in the UK Volvo are introducing fixed prices i.e. no more haggling with a salesperson - they will be there only to arrange test drives and servicing - no commission, just a fixed fee for each sale. I don't like this as customers will surely be paying more, besides, I like haggling. Is this the same in Sweden, World Wide or do you know if this is just here in the UK?

    Thom, the other day I saw a reference to an EX40 in the future which i assume would just be a bigger car but otherwise the same. Have you heard of this?
    Also, do you think the EX30 is making the xc40 and C40 cars look very expensive? I'm justa couple of glasses of wine away from pulling the trigger on a fully specced EX30 but wondering if anything else has been rumoured soon?

      I drive a C40 twin Ultimate with woolblend interior. I pay 7265 SEK per month in subscription. If I spec an EX30 twin Ultra the price is 8465 SEK. So why would I pay 16 percent more, for a smaller car with smaller battery, no drivers display and a lesser audio system? I do not see the value.

    It's missing ONE thing to actually be safe though: A driver's display. Why is there none? Even a Heads up display would have been fantastic. I really want one of these cars. But this obvious glaring issue takes it from a "definitely buying" to a "I'm not even considering it until I can test drive it." Having to look at the tablet for your speed and information makes it incredibly unsafe.

  • @chrispnw2547
    @chrispnw2547 Год назад

    I was initially very excited about the EX 30 as I do not need a large long distance car however, the positioning of the car as being super eco and using the least amount of materials did not sit well with me. Most importantly, the rear seats are simply too small for two adults to sit comfortably.
    As the EX30 sits on a shared Geely architecture used by others, I revisited the Smart #1. The 'bones' of the vehicle look the same, but it is taller and that helps rear seat legroom as the seats can be raised. It has already been Euro NCAP tested and received a 5-stars safety score. Surprisingly, the #1 and EX30 are only 10 KG different in overall weight. The Smart #1 is equipped by the same safety suite noted in the EX30 video.
    What is important to me is you get: a panoramic roof with powered shade, more color options, leather interior option, drivers display with heads up display. The pricing is similar despite all the Volvo decisions to 'simplify and eliminate certain key features'.

    • @Joe-lb8qn
      @Joe-lb8qn Год назад

      Volvo has more range. Also a bigger boot. Didnt know about the heads up display thats nice. Powered shade is good also. I know its subjective but i think the Smart is fugly and i feel qualified to say that as i drive a Soul. I am having second thoughts about ALL controls being on the screen, theyve out-Tesla'd Tesla there.
      I might just say to heck with it and buy a Model Y

      @@Joe-lb8qn I am very disappointed to see Volvo (of all companies) with a history of vehicle safety and a goal that no lives will be lost driving their cars, introduce all screen driver interfaces, no driver information screen, and no HUD options. Then, to remove most switches for routine functions adds insult to injury.
      Honda has done a turn-around and suspect Volvo will do the same at some point.
