Mr C not only an economist, a diplomat but a humble socialite. In all seriousness, Mr. C always been consistent in harping the importance of agriculture in a developing country such as Philippines. Love this man local and global experience. I agree please write a memoir or your POV of Philippine economics.
I hope Steevo can have his own show in ANC. Man that would be awesome! Imagine business x culture x music x economics X history. That will defo be better than the current Executive Class program. Thank you Steevoooo!
I love this conversation with Stephen Cuunjeng very informative, realistic, straight forward, clear and comprehensive . More of this analytic interpolation. More power. Bravo.
i like these interviews with Stephen. last time they spoke about a book by a Vietnamese author, classical music and now they're talking about music again.
Learning more where to invest. As i only rely on what the bank manager would suggest. Im always on the moderate risk, i have to learn on the aggressive stocks. Thank you
Another fascinating economics and investments highlight from Prof. Steve with slew of humanities that I always look forward to. Ph Executive and Legislative officials should listen, learn and implement.
Yes,Sir Stephen on the house that I always look forward to! Learn a lot of things from listening to your interviews on economics Sir. On a side note, beeing a bookworm ,my eyes literally lit up when you recommended one book by a Vietnamese author Viet Than Nguyen. Got one just few weeks ago. Maraming salamat po!
@@scuunjieng I wasn't accusing anyone. I was just commenting because everytime Dudamel's name was mentioned, a picture of you and someone else at the gala was being flashed.
Leading agri department or being a secretary does not mean one should know a lot of agri tech knowledge but means knowing how manage things and issues of and surrounding agri. just like mr. Scu is talking about.

Historically, it was used during the Spanish colonization era as a major transportation route and also as a fresh water source." Instead we have concretes beside the Pasig River, and our farmland slowing converting to urban housing because the farmland became unprofitable and capitalist taking advantage to buy the land to convert it (e.g. malls, condominiums, hotels, or any buildings).
Why is it so hard to find someone to lead the DA competently? We have no trouble finding competent people in finance or economics team or what not, so what's the challenge in DA? Nagsipag-abroad na? Kulang sa experience? Names unheard kase walang connections? Is being affiliated agriculture industry not sexy? What are the barriers for entry? It feels like sinasadya na pabayaan na. Why can't we find the right people? I also wish that they tackled the recent interview of JPowell posted in bloomberg. Does a recession really need to happen before they make a pivot? I also want to hear he's views in the semiconductor industry, nuclear and logistics in the Philippines.
He must be the DA secretary instead.... or become his adviser in food production, not those political entities around him (PBBM) who is not smart on providing solutions but more on currying for their political survival and securing their positions.
I agree. I have a feeling that PBBM protects the interests of his fellow Ilokano people ( I hope PBBM will be open minded to my frank straightforward facts ) who are more into agriculture. This agricultural monopoly and control wanted to limit within their own people because agriculture gave them a 3 sides of great returns: 1. Agriculture can be used to conceal their negative underground world investment tactics. From my own personal experience wherein the Pangasinese American man who fooled and betrayed us has this kind of mechanism wherein his front yard is agriculture side where he earns his clean income that he could file for income tax and his backyard wherein he doing his evil side where he earning a huge amount of money for he planting his so called medicinal marijuana. 2. This is a scheme where they can control and monopolized the trade industry favorable to them that they could earn huge income and investment returns and they could be viewed as the most industrious hardworking people in society BECAUSE THEY WOULDNT LET OUTSIDER OR OTHER THAN THEIR OWN SO THE POWER WILL JUST ENCIRCLE AROUND THEM. 3. This is a great tool for them for expansion and social recognition so they could moved around the world and access the global stage by their own Ilokano folks. These are just the many reasons why PBBM is so hands on agriculture side to ensure that ILOKANO REGION PEOPLE WILL STILL BE IN CONTROL OF THESE VERY BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF HIMAN EXISTENCE. Think about it folks… am I making up or my real personal encounter will define the reality of what’s going on… For me, Ilokano people are selfish, jealous people, insecure kind, wanted control and many more. BUT ILOKANO POSITIVE SIDE is they smart and clever and hardworking . They are silent worker which is very dangerous type. You could see my further descriptions of my personal encounter to Ilokano people who destroyed and damaged my family and me to its core. My fb account is just my entire name: Christalyn Joy Romero with a photo of social Justice and I’m wearing red top
The coops in Philippines are lead by the biggest land owners, whom benefit and control the free equipment from the govt, free training and other support from govt. These big land owners usually decide who to trade or they become traders themselves. The problem of these set ups is the data collected by the govt are also being fed by these coops lead by the biggest land owners, So, it might result to wrong formulation of policy or govt. programs. The problem is beyong govt. There should be honesty and No Greed among farmers themselves. The farmgate prices are too high compared to our neighbors. Add to the problem the market manipulators, hoarders, illegal imports and climate change which threatens the global food supply.
Well, fortunately, Marcos Jr won. He knows how that among the things that need to be done is to cooperativize owners of small landholdings- as pointed out by Stephen- as well as to promote large scale corporate farming. ABSCBN and anti-marcos cultists keep ignoring the fact that when Marcos jr became governor of Ilocos Norte, he turned the province from being a big rice importer to rice exporter and increased the production of other agricultural products.

The problem with ours Agri sector is the behavior of protectionism of their own area

have u guys not been aware of the "goings" in agriculture?
this sounds like a broken record.
agri is already pushing for coops.
It would not be a problem if government was benevolent even to a scratch!
