Sorry to say he is absolutely wrong 😂😂😂😂. Backwater is not the water which enters the lake from the sea. Backwater canals are there, actually in the central part of Kerala lots of areas are paddy fields between these paddy fields there are small canals which always got water in it. These canals are all connected to some rivers in those areas. During monsoon season the huge amount of water will flood the paddy fields and the lands in those areas. This water then flows through these canals and reach the Vembanad lake through the rivers and rivulets. From there it flows into the sea. During the summer when the water level comes down water is still flowing through these canals which comes from the rivers which in turn is used for irrigation of these paddy fields. These long intertwined canals are meant by backwater canals . In this video what you see is an estuary which means the place where a river and sea meets. Actually here it is not river here it is a lake the Vembanad lake. The major rivers which brings water to this lake are Periyar river and Pampa river and lot of backwater canals. During the summer when water level is low due to high tides the sea water flows into the lake but during the monsoon season due to heavy flow of water from the rivers the lake will overflow into the sea.
