- This video was made to show you how a 67 pound lab and a 26 pound lab fit in an intermediate Gunner Kennel. Both dogs will eventually fit in the intermediate kennel. See @Gunnerkennels website gunner.com for more precise instructions on how to size your kennel for your dog.
This is exactly the video I needed to see. We just picked up our GSP, Bandit, and when he got into his intermediate kennel, I thought we had made a mistake and that we should’ve gone with the large size. But, once he curled up and laid down, which took him forever to do when we didn’t have him in a kennel in the truck, he seems much more comfortable and secure. Prior to putting him in the kennel, he would get up anytime we hit a bump or came to a stop sign. Now, in addition to being more safe, he can relax and not have to worry about, keeping his balance or sliding around the truck.
Exactly!! They prefer these after they get used to them! I need to do an update with Mabel. She’s roughly 40-45 pounds now and fits it well.
@ Bandit has got to be between 65 and 70 pounds. He’s very lean GSP. Most everything I saw on RUclips for this Breed and others stated that the intermediate size was ideal for travel. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to hit the brakes and he’s slid around. He and I have been on the road for about 2 1/2 hours now and he’s snug as a bug.
@ awesome! Yeah he’s likely around Pastors size. Great fit!
@@thebandedretrieve What do you use at the house? Do you dogs sleep in a G1 Large or do you use another brand kennel?
Sweet set up! I'm on year 9 with my 2 OG intermediate Gunners. Sadly, one of them is on pup #2 after losing my female chocolate at 8. However, the kennel has lots of life left in it and will serve my new girl well.
Thanks! Gunner is definitely an A Class company! That’s great to know you’ve had it that long. The loss of a dog hurts more than a lot of folks know. I hope your others make up for it!
Good review - and thanks for mentioning the weight of your dogs. I have just ordered two Gunner G1 crates and can't wait till they get here (delivery in 3 days) - I did a LOT of research on the safest options for travelling with dogs and the Gunner is the way to go! Actually 5 Star Crash Tested rating - and not just the company saying it but the actual CPS approval on the CPS site! Thanks again - I'm feeling even better about getting the best for the dogs!
Nice! What color did you get?? The new colors are awesome. We love our Gunners! The female is about 40 pounds now and it works great
@@thebandedretrieve We got the Steel grey - matches the interior of the vehicle and doesn't show mud so much - lol. Our female is 54lbs and it fits her great also. Used for the first time yesterday on a longer drive (then just around our little town a few times). This trip was 2 1/2 hours each way and the dogs were snoozing all the way. It's comforting to know too that they are SAFE! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these crates!!!
They are awesome
They sure are! Gunner definitely has fans.
Do yoy have an update as far as Mabel's fit in the Gunner now? As well as an updated Aleko kennel review you had set up in your place?
I’ll try to get one posted for both! But in short, Mabel could likely have fit a G1 Medium. She’s 💯 the smallest lab I’ve ever seen and have heard that from many others, including our vet. But the intermediate is a fine fit, just not ideal.
Their coats are beautiful
Thank you!
Question: what's the point of the security ring if you can run a chain and lock though tie-down pins?
Good question. Functionally, it wouldn’t make a difference. From an optic standpoint, it’s less noticeable I guess.
