    Thank you Jessica! I took ASL for 3 years of high school and I learned so much from my teacher. I partly deaf in my left ear, so I don't hear quite as well as normal people. Tapping on my shoulder gets my attention real quick.

    I love it. I just love ur energy in ur videos. If I don't wear hearing aids I can't hear nothing. And they don't even tap :(

      Hopefully my video gets out there to reach enough people so they know to tap you and me. :D

    Counterpoint: I'm autistic (with a side of sensory processing disorder that stops me from being able to reliably process people talking to me) and I'd rather not touch anyone or have anyone touch me. I find that someone just making a gesture within my line of sight is a happy medium

    I want to send this to a couple co-workers. I have told my co-workers that I wear a hearing aid and if you want my attention tap me on the shoulder or elbow, knock on my desk, or even bust out in to their best interpretive dance of the Village People's YMCA. But just don't talk to me over the wall of a cubical.

    You are Brilliant!!! 😙 Now I want to learn sign language!!! And yes, to those who are mean to you, please tap the shoulder and don't yell... very rude... Anywho!!! Love you and your videos! 😁

    Even from a hearing stand point. These type of people would be in my top ten pet peeves, if I had a list. One of my coworkers does this. She won't get out if her seat come over and tap me. She will roll her chair into a position where she can throw something at me. Hearing people complicate things. I'll tap someone waiting in line and point that a is calling them over. I've had from dirty looks to, don't touch me. Deaf Culture makes so much more sense. Wish I started learning about it and ASL much earlier in life.

    😂😂 You are so fun to watch! I totally agree though, a light tap on the shoulder would be nice for everyone. I usually walk around with music in my ears and can't hear those people behind me either. And not only that!! If the common thing to do was tapping the shoulder, og would be soooo much easier to know when someone ACTUALLY wants to talk to you. I vote for putting this into regular human desency policies around the globe! :-) Thanks for this video!

    I was just telling my mom today that I can't stand it when people don't tap my shoulder to get my attention. Instead, they yell louder and louder and louder until they're screaming at me. When I do finally notice them, everyone in the general vicinity is staring at me. It's embarrassing and the person yelling at me is super pissed and thinks I'm ignoring them.

    Yes, it would be nice. Last Sunday I walked on my way to a train. I did not know that a family riding their bike was behind me until a father and a son were passing by me. As my head turned to them, I was like, "Oh, that's cute!" Then I saw a mother and a daughter behind my back. The mother's facial expression was like she's HELL annoyed at me. I think she had been shouting at me and trying to get my attention. How could I know since I am deaf?! They could have been following the father and the son instead of shouting at me behind me. Am I supposed to get something that screams "I'm DEAF! Move along or tap at my shoulder" :-/

    Will I be charged for sexual harassment by tapping on their shoulder?

    • @JessicaFloresLimeMoney
      @JessicaFloresLimeMoney  7 лет назад

      There is a difference between a gentle tap, a aggressive tap, and a inappropriate groping tap on the shoulder. As long as you tap them someone respectfully, I'm sure you will be fine.

    Anyone know what a hearing person should do if they are on a bike and there's a deaf person in front of them? I take my dog on bike rides and I sometimes can't pass anyone (unless we're on the road or there is enough space to get on the grass) without them going all the way to the side of the path. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I'd like to know what to do so I don't come off disrespectful if it ever does(:

    • @JessicaFloresLimeMoney
      @JessicaFloresLimeMoney  7 лет назад +1

      It's okay to say excuse me at first or ring a bell to see if they might be able to pick up sound just as long as you are not yelling aggressively lol. You can also try waving to get our attention on the side of us, we have hawk eyes so we can spot motion quicker than most people.
