At the age of two, Oumou Sangaré is abandoned by her father. Her mother finds herself alone with the care of four children. At nineteen she released her first album, Moussolou, before signing at twenty-one with the large English label World Circuit Records, specializing in West African music. It is the dream course for any African singer and yet, Sangaré affirms to have had only one idea in mind at the beginning of her career: "to avenge my mother". Very committed to the cause of women, this Malian artist is named FAO Goodwill Ambassador in 2003 and was awarded the Unesco Prize in 2001. She continues her feminist struggle through her new album Mogoya, meaning "human relations today", where she explores relationships. men and women. For this project, she called on the electro collective of French musicians ALBERT as well as the famous Nigerien jazz drummer, Tony Allen. Through this surprising collaboration, this "queen of Wassoulou's music" revisits her past, while exploring new musical horizons.
