      thank you for your comment Daniel! I'm so glad my video could take you back to such a special place :) That's so awesome that you got to live in Salamanca for so long! And yes, I've taken the bus from Salamanca to Madrid but would absolutely love to go to the cities around there I haven't visited yet!

    Thanks, this video is really helpful! I’m planning on studying Spanish for a month in Salamanca this summer but have lots of questions.
    - Is the Spanish language and culture course taught entirely in Spanish or in both English and Spanish?
    - is there a disadvantage of booking the course straight from the uni rather than from a study abroad program provider e.g. less excursions, knowing less people when you get there, less access to resources, different housing etc ?
    - does the uni itself plan any cultural activities or excursions?
    Thanks!!

    • @kayecariola
      @kayecariola  2 года назад

      Hi there! That's awesome, I hope you have the best time :)
      - the Spanish language and culture program I took was taught entirely in spanish, it may be different depending on your school and what they offer
      - i don't know what it's like to book through the university because i did it through my study abroad program, i'd suggest you ask the advisors of the uni.
      - i believe usal does plan a lot of cultural activities and excursions, try referring to their website!

      Thank you! I attended the University of Salamanca (Universidad de Salamanca) through a study abroad program provider called, International Studies Abroad, so I can only recommend that. If you research ISA or even other study abroad providers, you can find summer/semester courses for learning Spanish. Here's a link to ISA - www.studiesabroad.com/destinations/europe/spain/salamanca/spanish-language--culture

    • @kayecariola
      @kayecariola  10 месяцев назад +1

      I chose to stay with a host family and my experience was amazing! my host mom and sister were very kind. i spoke with them entirely in spanish and that was one of the most helpful things for my language immersion. the homestay included three meals a day, my own room and laundry. your experience may differ.

    Hi Kaye, I am going to study at USAL in June 2021. May I ask what month did you study in Salamanca? I am asking because I am planning to see what clothes I would need to go with the weather. Thanks and great VLOG, btw.

      @kayecariola  3 года назад

      Hi there! That's so exciting you'll be at USAL! I hope you have the best time! My program lasted from the last week of May until the first week of July. It gets very hot from middle of June and on, but in the end of May and early June it rained a lot while I was there and it was pretty cold. I would suggest covering your bases from spring weather clothing to peak of summer clothing :)

    Please forgive my curiosity, are you Filipina by ethnicity? Spain and the Philippines had very close relationship. Years ago, many Filipinos spoke Spanish very well. I heard there is a barrio in Madrid where many Filipinos live together. (Yo, fue el año 1999, me he quedado en Salamanca por estudiar el castellano... pues, poco tiempo solamente, nueves meses.)

    • @kayecariola

      The classes usually consisted of a lecture done by the professor and tests were given weekly. We also did some group work, no presentations. However, this format may differ depending on what courses you take and whether you have full semesters. My specific program was only 5 weeks long in the summer, so that affected how compact the courses and curriculums were. Hope this helps!
