I can feel the struggle of being an international student, I did my degree in the US but I am from Colombia and it was a mess at the beginning with all the legal stuff but it gets better and easier, Happy for you!
I ADORE this woman’s honesty: she doesn’t idealize the experience of being new in a place which i kind of feel (I’m starting college now), and she is being so REAL about it, telling when a class wasn’t interesting or how is she managing social life without the pressure that university must be always great and fun. My compliments tobthe chef:)
About de NIE: being a student is the reason you came here, so that’s what you should check. If you check the other one you will have to register as “autónomo”, for that you need to earn at least about 1000€ per month, and you would have to pay 30% of what you earn monthly to the state. You would also have to (maybe) get a job license, register in “seguridad social”, and more… Of course if you regularly earn over 1000€ a month maybe you should do it anyway, unless you are registered in some other country (paying taxes) And about the Red Bull: it is actually pretty common for some reason. They used to do even more aggressive marketing before it was banned for people under 16, and I remember getting it gifted at sports events at 12 years old…
I think that every international student has these problems. It also happened to me when I went as an Erasmus exchange student to England (I’m from Spain). But it gets a lot better after you figure out all the paperwork. 💕
I studied abroad in Spain then went back to teach English through Fulbright and this video brought back so many memories! Especially the paperwork and things closing haha you learn and get used to it!
Honestly you did such a good job with adjusting to college life, plus the extra challenge of also being in a new country. When I first moved to college I literally got sick from stress and was instantly home sick and it ‘twas not fun haha. I really enjoyed this vlog and can’t wait to continue seeing your adventures in Spain. Also the whole financial situation with “ask the other department” happens in American colleges too…so nobody has their crap together 😂
I think going on a trip on my gap year helped a lot with the homesickness! I had gone through some of those emotions already :) "ask the other department' is an international phenomenon I guess, hahaha!
As an spanish i can explain you about the time zone. In the 2nd world war, to sympathize with Hitler, Franco (dictator at the time) decided to change our time to German time. For this reason nowadays we have one hour more than we shoud, and the sun rises and sets later.
I have seen a couple of your videos and I’m also an American who is currently studying at IE (in Madrid) as an exchange student!! So cool that you are sharing your experiences with the world and enjoying the time. Segovia is beautiful
I'm in South America studying the same major, I'll graduate in a year. Been watching your channel + listening to your podcast for the past few days and I gotta say I'm SO happy I found you. Prioritizing, understanding our sleep time is scheduled around life (work-school) not otherwise, relax and fun time being labeled as productivity as well... your whole mindset around productivity and time management is so healthy. Looking forward to future colleagues like you! 💕
I read up on culture shock and its stages a few months ago and based on your reactions to some of the things happening to you, I can tell that you are experiencing some (aside from the additional stress of experiencing college life for the first time) But also seeing how you usually seem to keep a positive outlook on things, I think you're gonna be okay! 🥰
I'm from the US and going to grad school in Canada. I feel you on the paperwork and no one knowing the answers or how to help. We will get through this!
I went through the same thing last year, and yes you have to check on what your main purpose in the country is which is Student. If you get to check any type of work you will need to present different type of documentation and university won't be able to give it to you. Also this requires a different type of visa.
I loved the vlog✨ I hope you keep having good times and don't worry too much about some sad moments, it's part of the experience of being away from home and the college life in general✨
I lived in Spain for two years and I NEVER got over how beautiful it was. Miss it!! Enjoy. Also the bureaucracy is like every where there, helps you remember it’s actually okay to slow down even if it’s so annoying at first
i am still stuggling and enjoying my new collage life. making friends, studying, roommates... balancing everything... and i am very greatfull for your content. i am so happy that you found a friend group that you like.
You seem sad. Give it time and then evaluate. Sometimes it’s so frustrating trying something new, especially when you’re given conflicting advice. It will all work out I’m sure ☀️🌻🌸♥️
Love to see your adventure in Spain as a spanish student living in Lithuania 😂 I can totally relate to your struggles and yeah - burocracy in Spain (specially spanish universities) sucks. You got this!
Just when I started watching your videos I thought how my "life" was not pretty organize than I watched like all of your videos,it gave me so much of motivation and a path to live a good life so thank you very much. Also because of your videos I scored 90% in my maths test so thank you for that.
I'm so happy to see you being productive and enjoying your life after everything happened! Feeling so motivated after watching your video! Wish you all the best for your studying 🍀
Sip, ser extranjera no es fácil, te entiendo perfectamente, ya te irás sintiendo mejor, hacer amigos y salir es de lo más importante para sentirse mejor 💙 ame el blog 💜 espero el siguiente !
I’m also studying communications in Spain! I was in between IE and SLU Madrid and I ended up at SLU :) Super interesting hearing about your experience so far. I hope you continue to love Segovia!
Wow, your dorm room looks AMAZING! Same as the food hall etc, looks like a well-funded university. I'm curious how you made so many friends, it looks like you got there and BOOM had your friend group. Can you do a video on making friends at uni/outside your normal group?
Hi! I am from Segovia. I am nowadays living here but I am moving to Italy the 21st of October. Hope you enjoy this beautiful city. While I was growing up here I always thought that it was too small, but now that I am older, I think it is just perfect as it is. One of my favourite things is being able to go to Madrid for whole day activities whenever I want. Enjoy your period in Spain and visit the different cities of Castilla y León that they are a bit forgotten in general terms from the tourists. Best wishes!
this might sound irrelevant but i'm actually so glad ur lettng ur persona show through ur videos more! i didn't realize u had such a good sense of humor so it definitely gave me some serotonin lol thanks for that!
I bought your book yesterday (kindle) because I have been watching your vids and following your tips since mid 2019 and started implementing them and i was so excited for 2020 (despite the pandemic). I have a consistent system now but i do believe that it could still be improved. I have read quite a few self-help books and they have helped at some extent but I always get back to your vids because they are tried and tested and are actively being implemented. And finally a manual i can go back to whenever. I just wanted to let you know that you are doing a great job. It is not easy to go to college, overseas, away from family and everything that is familiar and safe but I wanted to let you know that a lot of people (including me) is rooting for you so Hwaiting!!! 👍
It's funny how it's almost the same first week for us international students! even the part where my parents had me on call so that I can select which clothes I need them to send over haha. I just started studying in Munich and it's exciting / stressful
hahaha classic Spain.... never having answers over email or in person, I feel you! Just found your channel from this video, can't wait to watch more ☺️
I first knew your channel for a long now, but I don't know why something now just clicked in me about your content. I've been watching non-stop all the videos here and I LOVE THEM!!! I feel like I am really lucky for being Spanish, cause, as you say, Spain is veeery beautiful!!! Hope you have the best time there!!

You look so good Beatrice! 😍 I'm sorry you've had your stressful moments so far! I've had issues with faculty at my uni as well. Maybe everyone is just clueless after coming back from the pandemic. Btw, I binged Sex Education too!😂❤
As a new grad from America in America, the struggles are very much the same here. I always had to go to the office to get anything done and no one really gave helpful information ever

I also just started my first month of college... it was definitely hard to adjust (and I didn't move to a new country, lol). But by a month in, once things got settled, I felt so much better. Wishing you the best of luck! On another note, I was wondering if you had any tips or would consider making a video about trying to implement productivity/wellness/self improvement while living with a roommate? Also, I would love to hear what your take is about how food and eating should fit into scheduling and planning. These are two topics I have been wondering about, especially at college. Thank you so much!
waittt i just found out that you came to spain to study! i might not have gotten the notifs for your previous videos, but i hope you love the atmosphere here 🤗 and if it gets too cold in the north you can always take a train to the south hehe, i'll be glad to give you recommendations (or a tour!) in sevilla 💫
i was really looking forward to this!!! watching your videos make me excited - and also wistful. i wish i could go study abroad too! manifesting a scholarship and a couple of years overseas! AMEN TO THAT haha!!! anyways, good job handling all that stress beatrice, you did so well
Hi! I've been watching you for a while and it's super nice that you are in Spain! I just graduated this year from uni and what can I say, apparently all universities are as unorganized 😂😂 I hope you enjoy the experience! I'm from Barcelona, so if you ever come here I would love to give you a tour! As well as any questions about our culture 😂😂
this is so fun!!!! loving this vlog and it's very informative too actually (i'm only halfway through the video and stopped to say carrefour is actually a french brand and i thought it was funny how you said it in a spanish accent haha do ppl call it that in spain?) + your room looks so cute!!! would love a potential room tour video :)
Hey Beatrice!! I’m a second year student at BCDM as well and could definitelyyyy feel your struggle with the NIE (I was only able to figure it out in my second year of college LOL). Anyways, let me know if you need anything or want to hang out! Great video btw!!
España no está en un huso horario equivocado, simplemente es un huso diferente... Las diferencias del lenguaje supongo, o quizá te referías a la diferencia con el cambio de hora de verano a invierno...
I can feel the struggle of being an international student, I did my degree in the US but I am from Colombia and it was a mess at the beginning with all the legal stuff but it gets better and easier, Happy for you!
thank you so much Natalie!!
What do u study?
I feel like I'm getting the experience of studying in Spain through her videos 🥺

Can believe you have come to Segovia! I live in Madrid!! Hope you enjoy it a lot!!
You need to find a ‘gestor’ in Spain. They will 100% guide you on the NIE and taxes registration 😉
I did find some help! We are currently working on it :)
Omg I love Flying Tiger. It’s the cutest 🥺 I’d go there all the time with my friends!

I guess it's normal to go through ups & downs... Hope you're having a wonderful college experience so far! Thanks for commenting!
As a new grad from America in America, the struggles are very much the same here. I always had to go to the office to get anything done and no one really gave helpful information ever
ahh I guess it's universal 😭
Yes, you Need to Check the student part on E-18 Form.
I‘m in a similar position as you since i am a full time student (but also a flight attendant and a teaching assistant) so it always felt quite wrong to check the student box but i talked to my accountant an she assured my i qualified
