    I don't know how they dare send that out for the money it costs. At this point, they just don't care about quality.
    I always knew my bag was grossly marked up and cost only a tiny fraction of the list price to make. That's part and parcel of designer. As you say, we are buying into the heritage of the brand. It's about pride of ownership. However, if the real deal is going to exploit and endanger workers in production like the counterfeiters do, and the goods are substandard in quality, at this point why bother with authentic? Pure greed. There is no "luxury" in what they are putting on the market anymore. I'm done with Dior.

    • @heartmumblr
      @heartmumblr  13 дней назад +2

      I couldn't have said it better, Sarah. I completely agree. What is the difference at this point for real vs counterfeit? While it sounds like this practice is not all of Dior products, this is a big hit to their reputation/brand. They need to fix this. So grateful to hear your perspective, thank you for sharing them and watching! ✨❤️xo, Sharon

      I have two pre-loved *jklux* that people left the stickers on, and when you remove them, the hardware looks different than the hardware right next to it that the sticker didn’t touch. It’s not because the other has scratches, the sticky stuff affected the finish.

    • @nmuzza315
      @nmuzza315 12 дней назад

      Buying heritage is a big one. This in my opinion is an excuse one makes for the poor quality of a designer product. You are buying the product to use the product. You can’t use the heritage. The heritage isn’t tangible. I associate heritage with a non-compromising level of quality. What made then great in the first place. The type of quality that, sustained over a long period of time, was worthy of a heritage. With the quality being so low these days, are you still buying heritage when the product is mile away from where it was back in the day? Dior, and most designer brands for that matter, are mere shells of their great past. The companies nowadays are unrecognisable, greed-driven entities that need to be ignored.

    Greed and power. That’s what this world revolves around. Not just luxury it’s in every company. There is no way billion dollar companies have done everything the correct ethical things to get where they are. I worked at a company that went under and us workers got a kick out the door whilst all the upper management got their paychecks for failing to run the company correctly. I gave up on all companies across the board. It’s just something that unfortunately we have to live with because it will never change.

    I think you were very fair and non judgmental with your opinion on this topic. It’s definitely an important discussion.
    I think that as luxury consumers we have the idea that our items are put together by skilled artists/craftsmen. The price tags are hefty but if the time, skill and care are there it makes the high prices easier to swallow.
    We all are aware of the horrible working conditions in the sweatshops and it’s up to us as consumers to not support those working conditions.
    I admit to being surprised that Dior could be participating in this disgraceful practice . I think your new pouch could confirm that.

    Great Video. As a consumer we should ask ourselves questions and wait for answers. I more and more go for Ateliers fashion luxury handbags, small businesses that take the time to achieve great items with a healthy and secure work environment. The word Ethical is not really used nor applied when it comes to those big companies. They bend ethical notions to accomodate their productions, business decisions and growth. This is unfortunately my conclusion after so many years of observation.

    To be frank, it looks akin to a pillowcase. The photos online are blatant lies no question. If it costs Dior 53 euros to produce a bag they sell for $2600, this pouch must've cost pennies to make. Thank you for making this video. I think many of us need this information to make informed financial decisions. A brand name today doesn't mean much. We need to go back to basics and look at natural materials, workmanship, and quality that is perceptible on its own with no sort of branding attached. This is why I have always bought artisan made during my travels. I do still buy luxury but I am super discerning and go for items that are practical and will be used regularly. (This entire comment is an opinion and allegedly).

    So disappointing with the Dior unboxing and it's not just you. The puckering from the stitching is a sign of poor or lack of attention to the stitching with one of the reasons being the tension was probably not set properly on the machine and/or the fabric was not being guided through the machine properly based on my experience with sewing but I'm no expert. Unfortunately in terms of structure I think that is how all their pouches are with the technical fabric based on past unboxings I've seen with this material. I'm in love with this print in the aquamarine too. Would you consider the Dioriviera 30 montaigne pouch in Aquamarine toile de jouy? It costs more but looks structured since its made with jacquard like the oblique print. I have the 30 montaigne oblique version, it is structured and love it but it is discouraging/disappointing/surprising (I have mixed feelings) to hear the news with Dior lately. You are right that we can't know what brands/companies are doing and all we can be is an informed consumer. I also believe in hearing both sides but it has left a sour feeling for me and to be honest I feel a bit reluctant using my Dior pieces for now.
    That said it was a subcontractor of Dior's that was running the shop from my understanding so not everything or maybe nothing may fall under Dior's control and each country/region may have their own rules regarding control/health and safety regulations but who knows. I agree with everything you said and I don't think you are being naive. I hope this causes Dior and other brands to fix their issues. Cassie Thorpe who did a video on the Dior news quoted a sentence from an article in her video and basically it was saying that the brand's most valuable asset, their name/reputation, is at risk if they don't do the right thing since it's the name that draws people to buy. Everything that encompasses these brands is tied to their name. Reputation, aesthetic, heritage, craftsmanship, etc... But what is interesting is how views can change from what I've seen.
    I believe a year or two ago wasn't a subcontractor of Chanel under investigation in France for labour/health and safety issues? then in combination with high prices, consistent poor quality goods, there were less Chanel unboxings and less to no line ups at Chanel boutiques in Toronto including launch days making it seem like people were buying less Chanel or taking a pause to hearing that the recent 24A launch day in Toronto was busy. Armani was also mentioned along with Dior but I hope the Italian police crack down on other shops for the same and other brands. I also hope that this is an eye opener for the brands to do the right/moral thing in their practices/hiring compliant subcontractors. Sadly, health and safety violations and worker violations are not only limited to fashion but other industries as well and they include large companies/corporations who should have known better but didn't do the right or the lawful thing in cases where charges were laid. That's my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

    • @heartmumblr
      @heartmumblr  13 дней назад

      Everything you said here is spot on. And you're right, the tension on the machine and/or fabric was not guided through properly. This is exactly what happens to me when I use my sewing machine as a non-professional and I'm running the fabric through quickly without care. I did consider the jacquard pouch you're referring to but I didn't want to spend that much and now my appetite is a little sour so I definitely won't be revisiting that anytime soon. Reputation is everything and I hope this gets rectified on their side & that they inform their customers afterwards. I did not ever hear about the Chanel issue you mentioned, but lord that is infuriating...and with their egregious price increases??? How can they possibly justify? 🙈 So grateful to hear your perspective. Thank you so much for watching! Have a lovely weekend, xoxo Sharon ✨❤️

    • @LauraRealLife
      @LauraRealLife 13 дней назад

      Tension was definitely set wrong, and I strongly suspect they were using the wrong type of presser foot on the machine. More often than not, "technical fabric" is made of some type of polyester and/or polyaramid and/or nylon and often coated, resulting in a surface that's too smooth or slick for a standard presser foot. The sound of that pouch when she folded and rubbed it reminded me of Tyvek! Using a teflon foot or a walking foot would likely have a better stitching result.

    I have no idea why people are shocked, most of the factories in Italy are now owned by the chinese. I have years ago watched a video of rich chinese women she owned a factory and she
    admitted a lot of luxury cloting is made in her factory..The fact is things can be made in china then sent back to Italy where they may finish the product then they put the made in italy tag on.
    To me the biggest problem is the fact that people are willingly buying things they know arent' worth what they are paying , no bag is worth oever a thousand dollars unless fairys are making it
    other than that nope.The luxury brands don't care now that they know peoople will just pay and fuss but not stop buying the mess they sell.
    Sadly, people are making excuses for dior oh their a big conglomerate they can't know everything, that is bull they can if they cared they should be making surprise inspections in all their factories
    and making susre everything is working properly. They won't because that is money they would have to spend instead of pocketing it. They don't care about their customers and they certainly
    don't care about the workers.

    I am not familiar with Dior but I used to buy luxury in the past (more then 10 years ago) and saw the writing on the wall with luxury turning into luxury in name only and perhaps design expertise (without the high quality). The quality has dropped so much that currently I don't think its any better then COS or equivalent. I think the root cause is the globalised luxury model. There's no way to sustain rent/ employee/ cost of operation globally without increasing profit substantially...and cutting cost drastically is one way to do it. I believe perfumes and sunglasses (which are cheap to make) were meant to sustain these operations initially (Since the 90s) but I guess the cost of operating became too much and they have to cut corners on other stuff.

    Hi, so I turned to a sewing and textile specialist who has been serving me for many years. I showed him the video and this is what he said: Technical Fabric - is the simplest raw material available. It looks like nylon, and when you touch it, it feels like plastic mixed with a soft, cheap material. The sewing looks cheap and sloppy because on such material it is very difficult to sew. The thread escapes, moves freely, and does not allow high-quality sewing at a high level.

Most people are too good hearted and innocent for big business. The owner of LV is no different from any other big business person. This is how big money is made. Please don’t bother about any Dior statements. They subcontract for a reason - to make the subcontractors criminally responsible. If they pay 50 for a bag they know it’s not made by Italian artisans and made of the finest Pima cotton or silk. It’s better you just accept reality as it is.

    I'm really surprised that you guys don't know how the fashion industry works. I think I heard about this story in 2009, everyone knows that main fashion brand (Ferragamo, dolce e gabbana, Dior, Versace, Gucci) relocate their factories to Italy and to poorer areas where labor laws are less strict. For example, do you know to apply the “Made in Italy” mark it is sufficient for it to 30% made in Italy. As if to say, the handbag is made in China, the shoulder strap in Prato (italy), and the product is Italian. According to the law it should be the other way around, but since the limits are not well defined, it is easier to commit fraud

      If you want to dig into this topic you can google this "rai3 report schiavi del lusso". It's a journalistic investigation (2007-2009-2014) conducted after the self-denunciation of an italian Gucci craftsman. I don't think the videos are available outside Italy, you can download the english pdf of the transcription if you have time or if you're curious about that. For real it's like opening the Pandora's Box...and it's a nightmare

      @@heartmumblrand it was my pleasure I feel your disappointment because as far I'm concerned every penny I spent is a penny I worked for so I'm really pissed when things like that happens

    I would rather have a bag from a thrift store than that bag - terrible quality at any price!!! 😮

    ew. no. return now. I don't think this is isolated to DIOR but I also think Hermes is above board. I have never seen Hermes products have these kinds of issues. EVER.

      Returned & Refunded after only a day! Thank goodness! I think their returns dept even felt bad for me, lol. Maybe I need to start exploring Hermes as I don't doubt their quality! Thank you so much for watching! xoxo ✨❤️

    If companies can take the P out of their customers, then that’s how they probably run their companies from the ground up.

      Yes and it's not even far fetched to think that because we know that happens all the time, basically everywhere. (sigh). Always appreciate hearing your thoughts here. Have a lovely weekend! xoxo✨❤️

    For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I would be happy to have the *niceshopx* as my travel bag and not have to take care of it. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.

    Your videos are really awesome and very good quality very nice I really enjoy watching your videos. But there is a little problem with your video, you should do SEO, if you do SEO, your video views and engagement will increase, likes, comments, and subscriptions will increase gradually. If you have less idea about this, you can tell me and I will help you.

    These so called luxury brands produce something so cheap and sell them 20 times the price is cost to make. Yet they still have y’all in line in front of their stores to buy their cheap products 🤣😂🤣 Share holders and global brand ambassador who get paid millions of dollars are laughing.
