Watch The Pursuit Of Happyness (2006) Now: AAN.SonyPictures.com/ThePursui...
Will Smith stars in this moving tale inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith). When his girlfriend Linda (Thandie Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise Christopher (Jaden Smith) on his own. Chris' determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the streets, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. With self-confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.

Brilliant acting! The line between confident replies and nervousness were so well enacted. Especially when the interviewer asks his question, you could see in Will Smiths face the fear, that sinking feeling of something bad going to happen and nervousness! Yet he composes himself and responds in jest. Marvellous!!

At the start of the Great Recession I was signed on at the job centre and it was full of guys in suits who had lost their high up managerial jobs and now they were applying for pretty much anything, but they weren't getting anywhere because they kept going to interviews for basic retail and warehouse gigs in their very expensive suits and ties. I must have seen job centre staff having the 'you look overqualified' conversation at least fifty times. To guys who had come to their five to ten minute job centre appointment in suits and carrying briefcases.

Lesson were taught through the pandemic. There is social change even in fashion. Dress code rules even in top of the line companies have changed to be in accordance with our times. Plus on your day off , or when you are not still an employee you can dress as you wish. Sometimes employees sacrifice their time off to carry boxes or do hard work like painting in comfortable clothing that could be damaged to keep their working nice clothing in good condition. Employees are not millionaires to dress like Kim Kardashian or J Lo on a workers salary.

How? That charisma and a real "personality" that customers can identify with and develop a rapport with is even MORE vital today whether you're behind a computer screen ("without those nice pants on") or face to face when its very easy to lose the ability to gain or learn that "charisma" because separating oneself from people (working more from home) creates more of a detachment/barrier from easily becoming more comfortable around people to develop it as opposed to being front and center with your contemporaries/ customers on a daily basis.....especially in an industry like Chris' where you have to sell customers on the merits of the product(s) he's pitching....

@@SuperiorBrick It was all for nothing. I only lasted a few weeks, I got no training, and got very little when I asked for it, so I quit. Just ran up to the derrick when the horn is sounded just so the driller can say “Hey, pick up those cigarette butts”. “Hey, pick up that monster can and throw it away”.

@@thegreatpiginthesky3904 I imagine it just comes down to the sunk cost fallacy. Not only does leaving a spouse entail a lot of financial and familial risk, overly idealistic people would rather fight to maintain a bad relationship than look out for their own interests because they think /in for a penny, in for a pound./ People are too desperate for affection. They need to learn to be comfortable alone before they can have a good relationship.
