Radio Nova played this, from a vinyl copy sent to Tony Allen. He sent a 15ips copy to South Coast Radio, who also played. By 1986, the 'Jam Single' was also on 'Atlantic Sound'...a well travelled tune. Mark, congratulations on a really 'Fresh' and exciting approach to this old radio favourite. Good work, well shared:-)
Your vid mix does the JAM singers proud, but... at 5:23 it's historic "KDKA Pittsburgh" - America's 1st commercial station, Nov. 2, 1920. (Your graphic is for KDKK, Park Rapids, MN.) Luv your vid, though!
Most of the people who would listen to this already get it, but I remain, all these years later, simply astonished by the job Jon Wolfert and Bruce Upchurch did researching, writing and recording this, and getting *all* the material to fit together -- in the original sings *with the original singers*. It is simply mind-boggling to me...
Fantastic. I had a JAMS Jingle for my show at 97.3 WMVB , Millville, NJ. The station is now owned and operated by WKXW 101.5 Trenton as a rebroacast satellie. Now known as WBSS Atlantic City. I was an on air personality weekends in 1985. Radio and jingle collecting is one of my hobbies....... Long live JAMS!
WOW! LOVE WHAT YOU'VE DONE WITH THIS! I worked for Radio Nova in Dublin, Ireland and we used JAM for our jingles...you have done a FANTASTIC JOB with this! Thank You for posting!
LOVE this little tribute to JAM and the stations they've helped promote-but the kicker is the fact they've been behind the jingles for some of the greatest shows on radio-hosted by folks from several different networks, including Bob Kingsley (American Country Countdown and the Country Top 40), Rick Dees (his Weekly Top 40), Scott Shannon (Rockin' America Top 30), the CBS Radio "count-ups" (Dan Ingram's Top 40 Satellite Survey and MG Kelly's Top 30 USA), and especially Casey Kasem (the original American Top 40 and the Westwood One shows, among others). As a fan of those shows and more, I'm glad they made those shows, the hosts, and the music featured the "soundtrack" of my life.
I do like this better than the older version that's been posted on RUclips for some time, but two observations: the radio station in Pittsburgh in the middle is KDKA - a Westinghouse station with the traditional Westinghouse/Group W letterfont - not KDKK, and 92 Pro FM has gone back to the artwork they used in the seventies and early eighties, which is the same logo used in the other video. Given that... A-. Very nice. Good to see there are still fans of this clip 30 years later. Wolfort must be pleased. This is now the standard Latin version of this work... to paraphrase Tom Lehrer. :-)
baylinkdashyt On reflection, the JAM writer missed one thing in the lyrics: Right in the middle, coming out of WMGK, "the sound of JAM is everywhere you go"; the backing vocal could have rhymed in with "across the USA", but they didn't. Owel. :-}
Nice job! I'm going to make this version in G Major someday to make this version more scarier than ever, and it will give you nightmares for the rest of your life.
