I indeed love perplexity as its more focused on ai and making research more faster on the other hand i love chrome 1. Google also have generative ai feature which i feel works faster than arc
    2. No bugs on chrome
    3. Simplicity of the browser
    4. Chrome + perplexity extension= best for fast research
While arc on the other hand is best at ui so vibrant and colorfull that i just love to see it but its distraction too.

Do you usually use it as an extension on web Chrome? Or do you also use the mobile app?
I honestly haven’t checked it yet on web but I sure will! Thanks 😘

I love both honestly, but Perplexity is the winner for me. It keeps me more interested in each query, while Arc gets too long and I don't usually read 5 or more points it does. Also I love the voices Perplexity has going on, if I'm reading about a new topic or some new article I can just listen to it and it keeps me more focused.
Also regarding the gallery: It shows the icon only when the images are not super related to the query, like in the video - when you asked about your sprouts, Perplexity decided it is useless to show you generic pictures of the sprouts so it just gave you the "optional" icon. While on the other hand, when you asked about the new Boston Dynamics robot, it showed you the images immediately because it decided it is important for enough context.
Perplexity over all does way more than Arc Search does (I'm not talking about The Browser Company, which in itself does A LOT as well). Perplexity has podcasts "Discover Daily" going on along with the "Discover" page in the iOS app, which has been a great way for me to get tech news since Artifact died.
Arc on the other hand is great in combination with my desktop, since they've introduced Arc Sync in the latest update. The animations also got way better.

I honestly have nothing bad to say on Perplexity! It’s a great product and I salute them for being the OG,
For my personal use- Arc search on iPhone is easier to navigate with both google AND AI search.
As for the gallery icon behavior, thanks for explaining that! I still think it’s a wacky UX decision haha
      Thanks for the comment! ❤️

I've noticed when using the pro search features in Perplexity the answers do tend to be longer. Also you showed that you were using GPT 4 Turbo as your LLM backend. There's a lot of lazy responses given by this LLM as the system prompts continue to increase in complexity. I would recommend switching up the LLM backend to see if you like the quality of the responses any better.
I don't have any experience with Arc Search. But it does look interesting. Thank you for sharing with everyone!

That’s really good to know! I later tested the pro search off camera (oopsie), but tbh, it’s not something that will make me use the app more only because it still doesn’t give me much more value than Arc, which I’m used to 🥲🧐

@@ItsUXgirl Have you spent much time with Claude 3? It's not quite in the same category because it's more along the lines of ChatGPT-style conversational AI. But it has a certain intelligence that I've come to appreciate, more of a human-relatable level of understanding when engaging with the platform.
In any case. I want to try out Arc to get a sense of it as well.
