being a Brit used to smaller cars, I’ll never forget the first time I saw an imported Buick Riviera in the '80s. It was enormous! I have no idea how the owner managed to park it in London.
These big cars rode so good. The trim level makes a big difference. I heard a story about a man that got drunk, then hit a trash dumpster, then drove home with the dumpster stuck to the car.
My uncle was a huge fan of big American cars, so I spent my childhood riding in them. My favorite was the ’61 Chrysler Imperial, it felt like a yacht to a kid like me
I’m the proud owner of a 1977 Chrysler Newport 2-door with a 400ci engine. It’s got everything: embroidered leather seats, cruise control, 8-track, and rear tire covers. At 226 inches, it’s a true giant...
that was the case in America for decades hell Japan used to buy our scrap steel to make there's better. in the early 80s a Buick Riviera was 17.33 feet long shorter than it had been before the 1977 Downsizing and 1978 transition to Front wheel drive. sure parking big cars can be difficult at times.

If you’ve never experienced a car like these, you just can’t understand the magic they held

It was surprising that cars of that era had such large engines but little horsepower, relative to today's cars.
I still miss my 1978 Lincoln MarkV that I owned from 1998-2000...
