    Everything went so well! I'm so happy for you and the birds to see how keyed in you were to what was going on with them and careful and calm in your reactions, which gave them a really positive first experience! You are right that all 3 showed pretty much all the things you would want to see for a first time out. They all came in and out on their own, and even though they were a little nervous they were mostly controlled. When they did fly and end up on the floor, they didn't panic, and all 3 got to interact with the windows without crashing. You did such a great job and you have been so thoughtful and sensitive in their care, they are really in good hands ♥️

    You should actually get the windows etched with that design. Like RJ said, it looks really good! I used window film (in a design like what they have on bathroom windows) on my bedroom windows to keep my very adventurous and stubborn green cheek conure from flying into the glass. It worked ... kind of. He still walked up to the window and knocked his beak against it. Silly bird! 😆

    I really enjoy watching your birds! I think you should add like a perch in front of their cage door (like a T stand perch) to allow them to explore and also go home to their cage easier. I own a couple of parrots and its important for them to have plenty of accessible places to perch and to allow them to look at their surroundings from different points of view.
    I also think that you should introduce them to a certain sound like a whistle or a word as a signal for their meal. This is really helpful to recall them especially if they are up high out in the aviary and you want to make them come down or eat.

    Such an exciting day! It went so well. 😁 I think you should let the blue-naped parrots get a little more comfortable with being outside the cage before letting the conures out. The priority IMHO should be to give them more perches - it makes sense that they will be more comfortable at being out if they know it is easy to get back inside. Can you believe it - it’s really happening at last! 😍🥰

  • @Genkuro

    @Mikey Bustos Vlogs - *HOW EXCITING! Mikey, cou could have opened one of the feeding stations, I noticed your cages have 2 on either side. It can serve as a perch for them to get in and out apart from the main cage doors which is actually harder for them unless they develop their confidence to FLY IN or OUT. Leaving one feeding station open also gives them easier access to the food or drink. Once they're done, they can easily just go out again and explore. It would also be easier to catch them that way since food will be their motivation to go back in.*

    This is easily the most epic vlog in quite a while (I hope things went well in Cebu, but I will say it's great to have ya'll back)!! Simply fantastic!!! I've never been a "bird person," but I'm riveted to this experience. I am so impressed at how this interaction went; it seems like a huge success. I think there are great lessons here; I love that you're so sensitive to the birds and their "feelings"; it just feels that you're making all the right decisions. I believe that, especially when two of them are stepping up to your fingers and the one actually flew to your wrist; wow! I have to think that these particular sessions with you are very formative for them. This whole thing was incredible! It does seem that the Conures are very anxious to get out and, I think, have your attention too.
    When you were drawing on the windows with soap, I was a bit "triggered," LOL. As a kid, I drew pictures with soap on the windows in our house; I got spanked and had to wash it all off... it wasn't quite as simple as you'd think (at least not for an eight-year-old).
    More great design choices with the light in the foyer; it's like an appetizer light before the main course of the chandelier in the living room (BTW, I'm super excited to see what that one is going to be).
    Hi RJ!! I think there's something to your comment... "The Apple and the Ant"... LOL, my mind is racing with that ;).
    What an epic day today, we've reached such a huge milestone and have realized the manifestation of a long-time dream. I'm confident tomorrow is going to be just as epic, and I can't wait to see that unfold! I'm very happy for ya'll! Stay safe, and I'll see 'ya next time!

  • @AshTheRose

    The soap on the windows was such a good idea. I have Feather Friendly window markers on my windows for my parrot.
    I'd be cautious about having the conures and the blue-naped parrots out together, as bigger beaks can cause bad injuries to smaller birds.

    Oooh! So happy for you! I’m not a bird person but even I can tell how well that went! I was expecting you to end the vlog worried, and unable to get them back in the cage. Congratulations birds!

    You should add like a landing pad outside the cage door so they can walk out easier and take off to fly plus when they are flying around they have a bigger target since there's 3 of them idk if a perch would be enough especially while they are still learning how to fly.

    I believe you made the right choice to let the green ones go first
    They I believe need probably a week on their own in the aviary
    The black ones are ready to fly around
    But they might bring anxiety to the green ones
    The green ones would have probably end up staying in a cage with open doors

    Mikey, you did amazing! Yes one step at a time. Definitely put many more perches leading out of cage and I luv your idea of a ramp. I believe they require all of their feathers, especially tail feathers to fly. It is a learning process for them. They definitely appear to view the cage as their home and secure place and seem to be curious and want to explore! You were so right in target training immediately. Yay for experienced squad member Renee! And yay for you being open and receptive to the advice! The birds condition is looking so much better! And I don’t know if you noticed but when you began singing softly, they were watching you sooo intently! I think if you incorporate it into your training it will become another way of bonding with them. Maybe each bird can have their own song 🎵! I know, I’m rambling lol! I am just so excited! This went so well!!! YAY 😃 ❤. Luv ya guys! See ya on the next video! Frances

    You were right in thinking that plants drop their leaves when moved from their old environment to a new environment. You should not have anything to worry about.
    I was excited to see the blue napped parrots move to the outside. You should still work with the blue-napped a few more days to move in and out of the cage. When they look more used to moving in and out then you can consider trying it with the other parrots. Awesome vlog.

  • @kyledesousa9312
    @kyledesousa9312 Год назад

    Offer a nut when asking them to step up. Make the decision for them to interact with you positive and rewarding, just like the touch training. Also, if they're young they may not know how to fly, beyond what their instincts tell them. The coordination may have to be learned. Ascending, descending, and landing are all difficult things to learn. Also, if one has tampered feathers maybe it's self destructive behaviors or a nutrient deficiency? I'd recommend perches that are clear line of sight from the cage, so they can try flying in a straight line without any obstacles first. Especially for the one that may have damaged primary feathers.

    I've been enjoying watching the process with this aviary. I love seeing them use their curious minds and figure things out. One of my favorite things when I used to have birds- both passed away due to old age. I might get birds again... Maybe grab your laptop and coffee and just hang out in the aviary for a few hours while the cage door is open and as they slowly explore so they are used to you just chilling in there near them. Slow and steady. I think letting these guys get more comfortable before letting the others out is the way to go. I love this so much! Your aviary is so amazing!

    Welcome back once again Mikey! Ah yeah, feels good that while these birds haven't flown immediately after you opened the cage, they have done a good job in your training outside the cage, but I'm definitely confident that they'll love the life in their aviary TBH! And soon, one day, we'll see them fly freely in the beautiful aviary, and your dreams of seeing your birds flying in your own aviary will be real (hopefully without bumping or destroying obstacles), and experience more sunshine!

    I think you need to review the target training from Bird Tricks. You shouldn’t move the stick once you put it into their space. They can get frustrated because you are giving confusing signals. Definitely put more perches down low so they can get in and out easier. Maybe get a stand to have outside the cage so they can fly from the cage to the stand. Can’t wait to see all the birds out!

  • @franceskrahe6261

  • @TheBioExplorer
    @TheBioExplorer Год назад

    The big difference between your birds and those in a zoo aviary is their birds are raised more naturally or brought in from the wild or another zoo. They would have fledged as babies. That would have strengthened their flight muscles and so yeah zoo birds might fly to the top. Yours aren't likely to do that unless scared and would be less able to come down. The 1 year old's feathers should grow in. It will just take some time. They missed fledging so it take some time for them to gain confidence with flying. I think you should keep working with the blue napped parrots at least a few days so they can both gain confidence and strengthen their flight muscles. I think it is smart to monitor them as they are learning this. Since they didn't fledge properly they are likely to fall and you being there may make it less scary for them. I see no harm in the conures waiting until the blues are more confident. Then THEY will get their own attention. Yes they are more active... but they too did not get to fledge and will need to strengthen their chest and wing muscles.

    I think the tree will be alright. It's probably transplantation shock, which happens quite easily to plants. They don't move from place to place in nature, so... Also, it really looked like having to regrow a lot of roots first. (Plants in general, and more so trees try to balance their water uptake through roots with their water loss through the leaves, so fewer root, especially root tips mean fewer leaves)

    The glass looks pretty good, you need a little bench in there so you can interact with them.

    Crimson bellies will nail it once set them free. Blue nape are too weak yet. It will take them sometime to learn it. Thanks me later. Free the crimson bellies too since you have big aviary and lot of plants and your birds are just 6. So it will not be a problem.

    Agreed, easy does it. Wonder if these birds have ever perched on trees or have developed wing strength to fly more than a few feet. Maybe perch stands and vines near and on the cage would help. Good luck!

    Hi just a thought maybe better to take out those cages and just have a canopy, they can hurt themselves under behind the cage and those glass I told to my husband maybe a grill with designed will help so that they don't bump into it. Just so cute those birds and you really love them. Good luck and GOD BLESS
