I'm a regular viewer of NorthernLion. When he made the swap to twitch a lot of people left, but more people came in. NL is a banter stream. I'm a regular viewer of NorthernLion. When he made the swap to twitch a lot of people left, but more people came in. NL is a banter stream. It's so easy to just listen to the guy and it doesn't matter what the game is. I came for Auto Pets, stayed for the banter even after he left SAP and went to Balatro as his main casual game.

Didn't he play the first game without any issues though? That should tell him that it's probably a different reason than this being an indie game. Probably the fact that the first game relied on him getting told by his audience (preferably in tips of course) what kind of build to play. But now, this knowledge isn't available. So it's suddenly on HIM to figure things out and if you ever watched Phil trying to figure things out then you know that this is even more boring than his usual playthroughs. But Phil doesn't understand that it's mostly HIM that is the problem here and he only gets by every now and then because the game CAN have moments to account for even being played by Phil. Games doing the hard work here.

All of these things, Phil hasn't. His personality is dog water, his commentary is boring, his skill is non-existent and the interactions with chat is toxic or basic.
Can you imagine what would happen if you handed someone a guitar and told them to practice 6h a day for 15 years? Even someone with no innate musical talent would end up an accomplished musician. Someone with innate talent would end up a virtuoso.
