In lieu of any particular plot thread (I think all of the seeds are interesting) I just want to say I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to read more Nightcrawler scenes. The one with him and Wolverine in HoX 4 will be hard to top, though!
I don't know how much Hickman is borrowing from continuity, but there used to be a robotic-ish character called Phalanx, of whom it and Cypher merged. I wonder if that's going to affect anything.
My biggest problem with The Dawn of X Wave 1 is that I have to file in my long box Marauders 7 before X-Men 6 since I file them by release date if no reading order list is given. They have also dropped the reading order that is printed at the end of each issue in this last weeks releases of X-Force 7, Excalibur 7 and X-Men 6.
Yeah, I had high hopes for a tight reading order since they were publishing one early, but missed release dates and the continuity challenges have put that to rest pretty quickly. I keep track of my own order here! www.comicbookherald.com/the-complete-marvel-reading-order-guide/jonathan-hickman-x-men-reading-order/
I just got the 15 trade paperbacks. It's fine until we have the issue where Laura goes inside the vault with Synch & Darwin despite already being on a mission with Psylocke & Cable. Then you're left wondering if there was a lack of communication between writers, the person who put the books together goofed, or if one of the Lauras was a clone. Fallen Angels felt like a disconnected story that could have taken place anywhere anytime. Not very Krakoa-centered.
Thanks! Yeah, I'll definitely be talking about those cosmic elements in the 2020 predictions part coming up. Very interested how the Phalanx come back into the mix!
@@Comicbookherald it's Xandra in the New Mutants. I read it on one of the "Powers of X" white pages when the discussion was about the Mutants in Shi'ar territory. There are threads from HOX/POX popping up throughout Dawn of X. The Deathbird story is important.
I say Krokoa is interesting as it's own nation because very naturally you realize the mutants need a lot of new teams, or better put organizations to make it work and keep people safe. I think X force is fine, but the idea is too restricted to the old super hero model of small groups. And while shady shady comes hand in hand with running a nation. I say the x men need their own large CIA, DoD, and Foreign Affairs and more. Also maybe a new public x men team as the world is always in jeopardy to help the avengers. Also I like all the new titles.
My theory is Mystic decides to burn it all down, breaks Sabertooth out, and ‘tooth kills Goldballs effectively ending the regeneration process, then it is on!
While I have to side with DoX not being a crossover event, I'd say DoX is an event. Possibly similar in impact to the Spiderman story arc Evolve or Die (my personal favorite Spider-Man arc to date). All that said I wouldn't be shocked if Marvel should pull a reversal of some kind, as Marvel is well known to sweep away events that should've been both impactful and long-lasting, here Spider-Man: Evolve or Die is again a perfect example and for me, a painfully disappointing one, of Marvel, doing exactly that. I would once again be painfully disappointed in Marvel, should DoX turn out to be yet another impactful event with no significant, if any at all, lasting effect once the DoX event is concluded.

Can't wait for the Giant Size Hickman/Alan Davis Nightcrawler showcase! Kurt's been my favorite mutant for a long time.
I think HoX #4 is and will remain the best single issue of X-Men ever.
I'm confident better is still to come, but I love the praise!
They should have just sent Magneto with a pilot, but w/e.
Great primer for post HoX/PoX reading, thank you sir 💪👏
New to the channel- great recap of DoX so far! Thank you! Looking forward to listening to your other videos.
I read a theory that some people think cipher is connected to the phalanx. His arm matches some of the same images the phalanx uses.

Nah, that's Warlock of the Technarchy, the Phalanx were derived from the Technarchy hence the similarity.

Good stuff.
I'm waiting for Phoenix,& Galactus.
The only things a Phalanx fears.

You leave Goldballs out of this!!
I do like the Sabretooth theory, I hadn't thought of that and it makes a lot of sense.
Great channel
Mister Sinister has been insanely quiet so far. I am assuming we'll get answers from Powers of X with him in Hellions.
Hudson Corners
Yay: xmen xforce new mutants (Hickman issues)
Hit or miss: marauders, fallen angels
Nay: Excalibur
Its Hordeculture, not Horde Culture, like horticulture. It's a pun ffs.
I miss 90's X-Men. Much less talk and bureaucracy.
Another stupid pointless crossover event that will be mostly forgotten by Marvel in a year (or 2). IMO
I'd be genuinely shocked if Marvel moved on from this approach to X-Men within a year. There's no way. This is a long-term plan.
Not only is your take trash but even if this were a "crossover event" there's no way it's undone that fast. 0 points
