- Welcome Gardeners! It’s the girl’s last day of school and to celebrate, we are getting our wood burning hot tub installed and ready to go! The tub is made in Canada by the company Goodland. It’s made with Western Cedar and marine grade aluminum, easy to install, and most importantly, is GORGEOUS! 🔥 Enjoy!

Yup!
The hot tub looks amazing! Since you're planning on keeping the original color, maybe a clear stain painted over the exterior wood will keep the appearance for years to come. Check with Homedepot or Lowes in the Paiht Department for recommended stain. Enjoy!

The firewood holder can also double as a snack bar for the girls. That flat, easy wipe surface can hold lots of tasty food, snacks and drinks. Enjoy the new hot tub. 💚

Very beautiful. How do you keep the water clean? Is there a chlorine in the water?
Its a natural tub, so you do need to drain it every week or two depending on use. But it isnt too much more than an bathtub, but you can use bromine or chlorine if you want to extend the life of the water
Love the tub! It is super fancy!! Enjoy 😊. One note* cedar grays out if you don’t stain it. You could do a clear sealer to prevent graying.
That's a great looking hot tub! If I got in, I don't think I would ever get out! Love to see the kiddos gathered around it. I bet they take it over soon enough...lol!
Have you thought about doing a stock tank pool? They aren't that big, but would be an inexpensive option.

Might I suggest that you get a small fire extinguisher and keep it with the hot tub essentials? Especially since it is so near your wooden deck and pergola. Better safe than sorry.
My baby is 25 😊 my other children 27 & 29 and it goes so fast 🥰 looks wonderful and I bet it’s gorgeous inside 😉

Beautiful ❤. Do you use chemicals so the water doesn't get scummy? You will want to seal the wood to keep that color, cedar ages to a Grey color if untreated.
My question too about chemicals! And agree that Janey will need to treat the cedar to keep it fresh looking.
❤u can put in a above ground pool close to your spa ck with galaxy see if theres one on calif. Or close by they have finaning also.

What a fun project! And it made me wonder…..is there a way to have an above-ground pool on your property? I bet you could surround it with the same wood slats and aluminum trim and it would blend in nicely with your property. Just a thought 🤷♀️.
now you just need a stock tank pool! I have had big pools all my life, my dad used to install them, and I wouldn't trade my 8' stock tank pool! It is just so easy!

They do partial above n in ground or fully above ground. But i think u'll really be pleased with them. And they can do the concrete all around it.

I remember when you first mentioned this hot tub, and Jason liked that it could be used for cold plunges. How would it keep the water cold enough for that? Would you have to refill it with cold water or add a bunch of ice to it?
What a pretty spa. I have a traditional spa. I turn down the heat for it to be cool in the summer. Just wondering if your new spa uses any chemicals? Happy restful soaking.

It is beautiful. The cedar will turn grey and not match your granite in two years if you don't treat it.
How do you keep the water clear?
How do you keep the water from turning green, do you have to put Chlorine in it.??? And how do you keep the wood from getting slime???? Does it come with a lid when not in use to keep bugs, leaves and dirt out ???Can you please tell us how to maintain it.

Does the tub require chemicals? We have mosquitoes.
It doesnt no, but you can add bromine or hydrogen peroxide if you want to keep the water cleaner even longer. The cover will keep the mosquitos at bay

You can add bromine or hydrogen peroxide if you want, but we prefer a natural soak and then using the water to water the plants. The water lasts 7-14 days

It’s was so special to see something featured from Canada. I live in Alberta, Canada right next door to the B.C. where western red cedar is harvested. I have been fortunate to have easy access and have used it for multiple projects. If you want it to stay natural, you will have to oil it yearly with an outdoor penetrating oil or you can let it naturally grey. It is such a beautiful hot tub!

Oh love this comment! Our company is BC based and we harvest all our cedar right here! We love the look of natural aging, but happy that customers are able to treat it however they like!

I'm curious what are you adding to water to keep it clear, pool chemicals or salt? And you must get a skimmer for picking out debris. Tub is very cute, enjoy! 😊
They have a FAQ section on the Goodland site about this. It basically said that because it’s aluminum and goes back to ambient temp that it stays clean for up to three weeks but you can treat with hydrogen peroxide if needed.
It’s not that much water you can just empty it and refill it every time you use it

I have one concern about using those steps getting in and out of the hot tub there is no hand railing so be very careful

Usually natural wood turns gray unless it's treated. That being said, I don't know if I would display the axe unless you personally find it visually appealing.
The good news is that if it turns out to be a total fail you have an additional raised bed. 😁

I just love it Janey. It looks amazing. Question dose it come with a cover so the Debris doest go in. You girls have a great summer and have fun at the sleep over and you are right Janey kids do grow up so fast. I am 41 and my daughter is 20 and my son is 17 🥲. But they are always my baby's. TGIF.

I have some questions about water sustainability. How will the water stay fresh over the week? How will a humid climate handle the mosquito issue? Being in a warm, humid climate, we always have the potential for mosquitos in still waters.
So what about chemicals? Will you need to drain the tub frequently without using chemicals? How do you keep bugs, leaves out of it?
Love the look of the hot tub. Don't know if we can use the fire box here in S CA,during the winter months we have a lot of no burn days
