There are not many people on RUclips who makes reviews base on their experience. Most of them just read the official specifications. You've done o good job in this review.
you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Paxton Orlando i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Eddie Bauer guide pro pants are my favorite summer pants to wear outdoors. Breathable, plenty of pockets, DWR finish, and very stretchy. They retail for $80 but you can get them cheaper during certain times of the year. You should give them a try.
This -- I grabbed a pair on Black Friday for 40 bucks, and another online for 60. I would recommend the *slim version* though. They are tapered and look much better on me than the regular cut guide pro. The fabric has plenty of stretch so that the tapered cut honestly does not affect mobility that much.
I love my Prana Zion pants! I wear them on every single hike, got them for super cheap on eBay as well, $30. They are water repellant, stylish, & great in heat or cold!
I can not thank you enough for recommending these pants to me. I use to only wear old navy or h&m brand pants and the crotch of the pants will always break on me, plus they never felt comfortable. I felt every step felt like a mission. Then I went to cargo pants felt amazing but they were just to baggy. But when I paid for these pants o my gurd I feel like I’m walking on a cloud. Buddy thank you thank you 🙏🏽. Plus I just got into hiking 💪🏾🙏🏽
For Lululemon, I'd recommend the License to Train (either the joggers or the pants) for all around use. They're versatile, vented, tapered and incredibly comfortable.
Nice basic review of a few options. I wish you would have talked more about the pockets. If you're focused on urban area, most likely you'll be riding busses, be in crowds and such. I'm looking for such a pant that has zippered pockets, for a bit of theft proofing. Seems to be two camps for this option, either no attention to it, or way over done. Any suggestions from what you've seen?
Great review. Tapered at the bottom is a meter of personal preference. In my case, I need them to cover the shoes to wear at work. A taper adjustment for the outdoors is great. Some of us have thick legs for a medium built body. I would have loved if you would have include some pants model by Kuhl. Maybe next time. Thanks
Kuhl are pants that I really want to try some day, especially the Radikl action or Silencr. Their price is a bit high though at $90. Right now I go with Eddie Bauer Guide Pro (Slim version, usually on sale for $60) -- and if I really want to go budget, I go Wrangler ATG Eco Synthetic for like $48. Maybe one day I'll snag a pair of Kuhl's to see how they fit.
I like your style man. Having moved from California to Colorado, I've kinda been evolving from a more workwear to a more techware style and I like learning about these brands that offer form and function. Really digging those Reykjavik Trousers.
I definitely agree with your top choice, but I'm also super biased :) I work for the store in San Francisco haha. They really do strive to make the best designed clothing products. Awesome, I'll tell them you like the pants!
Just get the Wrangler hikers from Walmart for $21.92 and call it a day. From the looks of it, they stack up well with most of these. Might have to take them to the seamstress to fey them up a little, but they do well by me for daily hiking use.
John Ryan lowa renegade or salmon 4d 3 gtx these are more for backpacking but are still comfy Hiking boots altra lone peak 4 high or Salomon x ultra 3 these are a bit lighter and are less stiff
Obviously i'm quite late to the party here but it would be good to note that Fjallraven provides many styles that have that ankle adjustment system similar to the arcteryx in the video!
I'm having trouble finding the right size for me, i need 30 in waist and 32 in inseam. Found Nau Motil and wear for some years, I thought is the perfect pant till i bought for hiking fjallraven abisko lite which feels even better. The colour washes out very quickly. I have also some north66 for winter but 30 is tight and becomes uncomfortable after a while, and some 32 for summer bought when i didn't knew my size but are unusable, so i think i'm done with the north66 experiment. Patagonia has some nice ones as well but the wrong sizes.
I was looking at maybe buying a pair of one of these type pants..... Then this video reminded me that I ran a lot, and skinny style pants fit pretty tight.
With the Arcteryx pants, do you wish you went up in size with the waist? I'm a 32in typically as well but am debating if getting the 32in or the 34in is the better call.
Nice review... But you should true the montane alpine stretch pants or the montane on sight pants... And also definitely pants from bergens of Norway......
Hi Alex, thanks for the review. Can I please ask what your height and weight is so I can compare? I just bought some Arc'teryx Starke pants online in size 32, which is my normal size. I am 176cm tall and 71 kg, so I am worried they maybe too big. We'll find out I guess.
Was actually just looking for review about pants... because need a good pair of them. Ended up in your video and was like woah , I´m following this guy in instagram because of the great pictures... I didn´t even knew you had youtube channel... Well will start to follow here as well... :D
"You want to be careful not to eat too much when you wear these" haha. Helpful and adorable modeling and reviewing with an endearing accent. Thanks for this fun video. Especially the ABC acronym lesson. My passion for pants has grown watching this.
That was very nice and informative. thanks.. would you consider making the same kind of video with your favorite hiking teeshirts brand. for the last couple of years i'm only using icebreaker for the confort and especially the smell! but i'm curious if you're using other kinds of fabric and are happy about it.. merci...
U should try the Nordwand Pro pants by RevolutionRace. They are reasonable priced at about 110 USD and just as good or better quality and design as the biggest well-known brands.
Compared to all these the Brion pant from Prana seems to be a really good option. 5 pocket design, stretch, durable non-shiny fabric, DWR. They just need to be tapered, and only cost $80.
None of these spandex blend pants are good for long term use. I've used the Prana Stretch Zion & Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants during thru hikes and they just don't last. The waist always stretches out way beyond what they're supposed to be. Granted thru hikes are extreme examples, but you'd be better off with full nylon pants.
Hey Alex, you should check out the Eddie Bauer First Ascent pants. I'm a pants snob too. I bought two pair for $50 each and they are durable, comfortable, stretchy and water repellent with DWR. I personally like them because of there solid blue, black and brown colors which aren't shiny(hate shiny). And they have butt pockets and cool side pockets. You would have to taper them, big deal! Just thought I'd mention it. Keep up the videos. thanks.
Eddie Bauer just came out with the Slim version of these! It's only in 3 colors, but they fit perfectly and are exactly what I wanted in a stretchy, tapered, hiking pant. There's also plenty of room/stretch in the waist for me to carry my Walther CCP in my IWB holster. They are my new favorite pant.
RUclips gold, right here. *Cue applause track. 💥🥇🏆💥 I like it. This is actually very helpful. When I find a good pair of trousers (I like the word ‘trou-ser’) which do all of the things I want them to do and maybe even fit properly, then I immediately go back to the store/website and buy as many duplicates as the wallet can spare. I wear these in rotation until all the favorites are in serious, entropic, motorcycle accident condition. Funny thing about buying in duplicates, when one pair fails the whole ship sinks. For example, my last pair of favorite jeans (I bought 3 pairs) and when the first pair started ripping open at the left knee, within a month the other two pairs started falling apart in the exact same spot. Multiple pants, same fate. Trousers. Pants. Shopping. Measuring. Fitting. Testing. “Nope not these, maybe these?” What a headache. Finding the right golden sauce, ultimate balance between comfort, fit, functionality and price is always such a challenge, especially in the pants (*trousers) department. Plugging these brands into eBay now, hold please... 😎👍👍

Thanks for the review :) I've been looking around a bit for pants like this, and also found the Houdini Way to Go pants (Houdini is another swedish brand). Sounds like they might be right up your alley.
I love my Lululemon ABC Pants. I can wear them at the office with a button down shirt and leather shoes, or wear them outside with a t-shirt and athletic shoes and they look great in both settings. They are super comfortable as well! I can do a full squat in them and no ball crushing! The downside to the ABC pants in my opinion is that there is a bit too much room in the seat which is odd since I have a muscular butt! I also wish the back was slightly higher cut for more coverage when bending over or squatting down. The fabric is also a bit too lightweight for hiking through dense brush. I would prefer something a bit thicker.
I'm in the market for pants and as a fellow svelte man, these reviews helped tremendously. I felt your pain when you bought those medium Colorado pants and they came out looking like that.
Hey Alex this icebreak persist suits on you very well... don't you see your own video and I am surprised it's not in your list. Even it is waterproof... it's up to you and this is the best one.... thanks for your review...
this guy loves tapering his pants. I cannot walk around with tight tapering when being active. Feels like someone is tugging and compressing at me at the bottom. But that's just my preference.
You don't wasn't outdoor called mountain that are more mount in door, what are these so called out door clothes good for other than a stroll in the sun
True two years ago, 5.11 has since changed the design and the fit is now WAY too tight, especially in the crotch... also the crotch will give out in less than a year. Pass.

The Mountain Hardware pants are called AP Trousers and the color is Shark. And they still do make them.! :D

Justin Hardigree The side pocket is great for keys & wallet!

I think those lululemons are the commission pant. The abc has more of a Jean pocket and the commission has a khaki pocket.
For Lululemon, I'd recommend the License to Train (either the joggers or the pants) for all around use. They're versatile, vented, tapered and incredibly comfortable.
Fantastic... You should do a update of maybe other pants you have found.... This was a fantastic guide for me...
Dude, you'll fall in love with Kühl. My favorite is the Renegade, but for skinnier legs look at Renegade Rock pant.
I love the Mountain Hardwear pants... I'd still wear them all torn up b/c of the story you have with them. Never give up on your pants.

I own fjällräven pants, they are very high in quality, many useful pockets and feels good to wear.
The reason these pants aren't tapered like a pair of hipster skinny jeans is because some people will be using these outdoors, over boots.
