We have been living aboard a narrowboat for 3 years now and the canals are flat and calm with rarely any flow. There is a little movement from passing boats and getting on and off but that’s about it 😊
We are 3 years into this life, living aboard our narrowboat and travelling the waterways of the UK, and no downsides that would make us stop doing it yet. Perhaps further down the line then our health may stop us, but we have met many people that have been enjoying this way of life for 20+ years 👍
Plenty of times I have thought you know what, life is easier in a house, but then we moor up in a beautiful location or sit on the towpath with other boaters and a glass of wine and it’s all worth it. Ask us again in 10 years 😂
@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked Thanks, enjoy many quiet miles. Imagine one of the benefits is you are so quiet you don't startle wild life and get to see animals and birds coming to drink.
I'm a landlubber but would really like a holiday on a boat like that.
That looks like a great way to live. It seems similar to van/RV life in the US.
We love it. Four years now in the canals and rivers, best thing we have done 👍
Super sweet! Are there comparable possibilities on main land Europe or is this very much a UK only thing?
Well done choosing this lifestyle & I see it as very unique compared to land travel in vans
Thank you, we love it.
Seems luxurious compared to a tiny house. Is seasickness ever a problem?

You do get your sea legs even though it’s only canals and rivers, for the first couple of weeks I would lose my balance on dry land.
Should be called Short n Narrow boats. Great for skinny Dwarfs + a Princess
Perhaps fun for a while, but I don't think this little video covered all the downsides of doing this long-term.

Electric drive, clean and quiet sure but how do you recharge batteries?
We charge our batteries via the solar panels if that isn’t enough we have a diesel generator as a back up.
