I got through The Butlerian Jihad books, but just can't tolerate much more.
I will say. I am glad there's at least some color finally in these Denis Villeneuve related stuff. Also nice to the Emperor isn't dressed like a hobo.
Yeah this is gonna be filled with Brian-isms and Denis Villeneuve's fixations.
Though I will say its pretty enough. Which is way down the rungs for me.
But Part 2 already put me off most of this.

Nothing making me want to rush to watch the series but it looks okay. But, I did enjoy Dune 2. First time I walked out if a cinema in 20 years with a smile on my face. Really, I know that doesn't say a lot these days but I forgot what a treat it was to come out of a cinema having actually enjoyed something. Just disappointed there's no Imax where I live tho. Probably give the series a bash cos all the IP's I love have been depressing me of late. That razor blade dress of Princess Irulan has been living rent free in my head since. 😊

The idea was to make the books into moves as an entry into invented TV ser-
OH HELL NO. HELL NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
The producer is the jerk who ruined "Dune" the universe with Brian Herbert? YOU'RE TELLING ME THIS THING IS REAL? YOU'RE TELLING ME THEY'VE SUNK MONEY INTO THIS
If he'd stuck to YA Star Wars novels, I could've lived with that. But this
no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no
"threw it in the bin where it f___ing belongs" is the first line in this video that gave me a fraction of hope.
No. Don't do this sacrifice. There's no point reading that crap book in order to evaluate a series that absolutely will be even more crap. Don't do it. Don't do it. Not for us, not for you. NO. DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF OR TO US.

DO NOT READ THE BOOK!!! Coming from someone who read the books (you will have to read his entire prequel series to understand that book, nothing they’ve written can stand alone). Also the trailer is actually coming after The Sisterhood of DUNE so the current book won’t help either.
The sisterhood in Brian’s books starts with the breading program and is using illegal computers to track that breading program. Valya Harkonnen is basically the second in command to Reverend Mother Raquella Berto-Anirul (the first mother to get the past memories of other lives). Valya gains the voice, takes over the sisterhood and brings them to the planet Wallach IX and plans on continuing the family feud while controlling the blood lines.
Onto the next story of where Valya Harkonnen’s brother is trying to kill Vorian Atreides (*SPOILER* it ends with them being friends and the brother dying by other robots who get eaten by a worm) because of the feud. We also get more of the beginning of the fremen on DUNE and the slow discovery of the spice and the dividing of the fremen into city and desert dwellers (they got on planet from crashing a spaceship in one of the previous books).
You have the newest leader of the butlerian jihad is continuing the fight against the machines with his sword master and the mentats (created and lead by a man raised by the thinking machines and latter killed by the jihad). Also gives you origin of Corrin. Also have what would become the guild still forming itself from the VenHold Spacing Fleet (also the founders of IX).
And that’s about it for the story that I remember as I only read the book once and like I said you need the other books to understand what happens next because these books can’t stand alone and never end. I’ve read everything up to Mentats of DUNE and had to quit (I was very curious and actually started with Brian’s books on DUNE). Hopefully this helps and convinces you not buy the books, pirate them and you will be disappointed because they do not improve from the first.

I will probably use this in my first Dune Prophecy review video as justification for not reading, if I decide not to, LOL.

jesuswept you are a stronger person than I.
I will quibble one small missing thing in your text, if I may. You say that none of these books stand alone.
Honey, none of these books stand even together.
There's a web comic strip called "Penny Arcade". Apologies to those who know this already. Search for that title and add "Dune" and "Brian" and "Kevin". The first hit called "Honesty Time" should do it.

I have read from the jihad to house atredies book and i have to say that if you have a problem with how its written then you havent read more then 1 chapter. His som does a great job of filling in the gaps on how they got to where they are for all the people who are just coming in at the end.

      > if you have a problem with how its written then you havent read more then 1 chapter
... you mean, the book series that had water worms?
From the people who tell you that Paul wasn't the Kwisatz Haderach?
If you don't have a problem with how it's written, then you have a problem.

Spoiler warning for anyone who has not read or is familiar with the Dune novels.
We only hate the Harkonnen because they are set up as the villains in the book and film and while they are horrible, people sometimes forget that the Atreides are horrible too. Not everyone. The Duke was honorable, but it is feudalism in space with it’s cruel assumptions on the capabilities of others and so we know Paul ends up getting billions upon billions of people killed and that was the best case scenario because his son will set humanity upon the Golden Path and rule with an iron fist and lose his humanity in order to teach humanity such a lesson that they will never blindly follow a charismatic leader again. So why do back to the beginning? I would rather see the machine crusade. That seems more interesting to me, but maybe we will get a flashback or not…
