    It looks like these boots may actually just be Goodyear welted with gemming rather than handheld. I apologize for that misinformation. They're still a good value, but not the amazing value that I mentioned in the video.

    I got a pair of these on 12.12 (A Chinese shopping holiday) for 270 plus shipping (about $50), and I disagree with your sizing advice. I bought 1/2 size up (just due to availability) and they fit perfectly if a little narrow. I agree with everything else you say. They're extremely comfortable out of the box and very well-finished. Nevertheless, there are a few things they need to do to really compete with *high end* brands. First, the back of the eyelets are really rough, and covering that up would be a massive upgrade. Second, I think at this level welt fudging on welted boots is expected. And third, the speed hooks are really small which limits the types of laces that you can use. With all that said, I'd buy another pair at full price from him/them with no hesitation.

      Thanks for the info! Sizing is difficult because feet are weird. Perhaps that's also a different last. Either way, I'm definitely with you on the hardware.

    Really love the ideas behind these videos - I think perhaps maybe making them a bit more streamlined and organized (like sections on different topics you wanna review)would make watching more enjoyable and approachable for someone like me who doesn’t know much about this world

    • @almostvintagestyle
      @almostvintagestyle  Год назад +1

      You're right about that. I could be more organized. I will try to do that as much as I can, but I also know that if I script my videos too much, I won't enjoy it and I won't have time for that so I need to find a balance.

    I like his sprung toe look on some of his boots. I was very impressed & got a pair a while back. They are everything that you say Jake. The finish is immaculate!

    Quans Engineer’s are 1180 for horsebutt
    1080 for CXL
    And 798$ for steer/cow
    I was just talking to whoever is running the instagram currently.
    All of quan’s boots look really good.
    I ordered a pair of engineers.
    Hopefully all is okay with quan the business and his nephew.

    Too bad Quan is gonna go into turmoil real soon. His nephew (the person who is actually operating his account and taking the photos) is separating to create his own brand, so uncle Quan's own brand's future is now in question.

    • @djhungzilla
      @djhungzilla Год назад +2

      The nephew is creating his own boot brand? This sounds like a marketing issue and doesn't impact Quan producing boots

      That's unfortunate for him, but so far it looks like he's keeping up with the photos. Let's hope it doesn't affect him and his brand too much.

      @almostvintagestyle do you think it's worth the price if it's goodyear welt? Or maybe spend money on a brand with hand welted built ?

  • @enteraft

    15:25 So true.
    Bunch of brands out there building handsome engineer with excellence clicking and finishing, but they just couldn't stop themselves from slapping on a horrendously shiny tacky looking brass buckle.

      I actually often like brass buckles, but a lot of brands just don't have very good ones sadly.

    I had a question for you. I’d like to buy a pair of Motor engineers, but I’m kind of having trouble with the back-and-forth with them about size. My left foot is 29 cm, my right foot is 30 cm. Based on that, what would you recommend size wise?

    • @almostvintagestyle
      @almostvintagestyle  11 месяцев назад +1

      I'd size for the larger foot before anything else. Do you know what that foot is on a brannock and/or your width?

    • @almostvintagestyle
      @almostvintagestyle  7 месяцев назад

      I'd say in terms of cleanliness, equal. I prefer the Quan designs, but Onderhoud is hand welted so they each have their pros and cons.

    I didn't catch which leather these are made out of. These are beautiful and look super clean.
    Anyway, IMO some of the Indonesian and Philippine makers are still better value. Hell, Truman is still better value.

    • @toolshed6078
      @toolshed6078 Год назад +3

      LOL..Truman is NOT a better value. Trust me, Quans boots are far superior construction to any of the PNW bootmakers, especially Truman..and I own several pairs of Trumans, and they are fine, but they are not the same boot as Quans.

    Expensive for China. Even if it’s a well run factory and treating the workers great, no way they are paying them the same wages as the Pacific Northwest boot factories yet it’s the same price.

    • @toolshed6078
      @toolshed6078 Год назад +4

      I have pairs of boots from all of the PNW bootmakers, and Quans boot construction is far superior and much cleaner. Also Quans leather choices are better than most of the PNW boots.

    • @73split
      @73split Год назад +1

      @@toolshed6078sorry, their quality does not outweigh or justify the price considering the labor cost and business cost they are working with. In fact, it looks like a ripoff. These boots should be half what they are charging. But it’s your money, spend it how you like.

    • @almostvintagestyle
      @almostvintagestyle  11 месяцев назад

      True that the wages are likely lower, but the question is if the relative wage is equal or not. What I do know is that the qc on Quan's boots seem higher. Not saying that's all that matters though.

  • @tonynimmons111
