I really wish we could have gotten a whole season of Rylan and Nicola. Love them so much!
If you've missed Derry Girls, it a classic series.
Agreed, Nicola is great in Derry Girls.
I will say; outside celebrity interviews Krisnan is a very respected and reveared journliast and news anchor. When he turns his questioning on politicians, they don't like it either lol
"She's Irish?"
Duuude, watch Derry Girls. So good
be careful what you wish for, you might just get it ;)
@@AdamfromFWCI yaaaaaay
Would live to see your reaction to Derry Girls.
Nicola Coughlan was iconic in this. My only regret is that she didn't get a full series.
It's a travesty. Also god damn she looks tremendous
Her regret too😭
Shirley, incidentally, is best known as a judge in the original British version of Dancing With The Stars, which is also the only international version with a different name (Strictly Come Dancing.) This might explain some amount of her style.
Fun note: Rylan's name for the cow, Linda, ends up sticking.
Fun fact Krishnan has appeared as a competitor on Strictly Come Dancing, which Shirley is a judge on.
He was actually quite good, much better than I'd expect.
I love the NYTs. Really fun addition to the franchise. Rather a shame Krishnan is only known for those awkward interviews outside the UK because that's not how most people see him in the UK at all. C4 News is definitely the 'toughest' of the major UK news outlets when it comes to interviews though. Many of us grew us watching him on kids' news show Newsround so maybe we're all under his spell 🤣
New Year's Treat isn't just actors, it can be any public figures. In future NYT episodes we get athletes, politicians etc too.
I still want to see some WWE Wrestlers on Taskmaster
@@AdamfromFWCI Oh my gosh yes. Imagine Xavier Woods on Taskmaster!
i would love a full season of nicola and rylan, they were both hilarious
Rylan is so funny - Him shouting "WHAT COLOUR'S YOUR FUCKING HAT?!" always gets me.
Champion of Champions is every 5 seasons.
You can watch them at any point; but I watched the first following the 5th season; the second following the 10th season; and the most recent following the 15th season. 😁
Hi, just to add my voice to those supporting Krishnan, he’s one of the finest journalists this country has ever had. He asks meaningful questions and holds the interviewee to account. He is a political interviewer where that is more normal (and really essential). The type of pandering interviews that go on with press junkets isn’t his thing and there must have been some misunderstanding on the side of the PR teams for the films/celebrities if they thought that was what was going to happen. He is neither mean nor disrespectful but may ask difficult questions.
In the episode of the TM Podcast with Nicola on, she said she loved being on this, but also didn't because she REALLY wished she could be on a full 10 episode series instead. And having now rewatched this episode through your reaction, I really think they did miss a trick with her not being on a full series, because her studio banter was always funny and I think she would've been great.
I think you have completely misjudged Krishnan. Krishnan is a great journalist, he doesn’t just accept bullshit answers designed to dodge the question. Better that than simpering to the cult of celebrity. Tarantino was clearly rattled by legitimate questions
I don't think it's unreasonable to say "I've been asked this question constantly for years, I've answered it dozens of times, im not getting into this divisive topic AGAIN, purely because you are fishing for a headline, let's move on to a different question please".
RDJ on the other hand, Krishnan was completely tasteless and disrespectful. If you know the history Downey has with his father, you know why name dropping his dad before asking about substance abuse is actually an extremely disrespectful and hostile thing to say to the guy. It's like asking a Me Too victim "do you think your experiences with Harvey Weinstein helped you play this character?" It's tacky, it's tabloidy, it's low class.
It sounds like when interviewing politicians on more serious matters his ruthless nature is in its element, but headline fishing isn't a good look.
(BTW I might be more defensive than usual because I just watched the uk riots get caused by racially charged misinformation thanks to Andrew Tate of all people that the mainstream media repeated. So I'm a bit annoyed with tacky journalism in general at the moment)
@@AdamfromFWCI On the other hand, it's not Channel 4's job to sell your film. Cushy promotion is not their style. If you go on an interview, you should expect to be interviewed.
@@qwertyTRiG Interviews though there's always a focus/topic in mind, if RDJ's was to do with film then why is it appropiate to bring up his dad and past drug issues?
@@T0malC21 Its Channel 4 news, like actual journalism not a sleb junket so if you wanting to sell something its not the place. The problem is not the newsman doing news questions its their agents/managers booking them on a news programme and not making it clear they're not there to sell their film.
Please watch Derry Girls!! And Fleabag!!
This was such a good special. I really enjoyed it. They all did great.
Just noticed Herring in the corner in the into, love how you add to it each season!
Echoing others that you should watch Derry Girls!
And also checking on the status of a Psych reaction 👀 👀 👀
I might do Psyche after What We Do In The Shadows, its a lot of long episodes so its a big commitment, but its still up there on my list
This is the first location episode they filmed after covid. I have always thought it was Alex way to test they can film under covid conditions
Probably gonna get flamed for this and idgaf..
But in reference to the interviewer.. don’t sit down with a journalist if you want to do movie promotion? They’re different and it’s disingenuous for people like QT to sit with a journalist and expect press tour questions
I dont think Quentin had a choice on who conducts the interview, it was a press junket, Krishnan chose to participate with the intention of persuing some kind of controversial headline.
Love your input though :)
Krishnan isn't a journalist he is a news presenter that wants to pretend he is doing hard hitting journalism by saying dredging up old shit and pretending like he is the first person to say it.
His idea of cutting edge journalism is telling Quentin Tarantino that the movies he had been making for the last 20 years are violent and "wont somebody think of the children" Quentin litterally said in the interview he has answered all those questions decades ago and didn't feel the need to repeat himself.
@@AdamfromFWCI Tarantino and Downey Jr. do get to choose which programmes they appear on, and Channel 4 News is not really a place to do pure promotion.
If that's all someone wants to do, they should go on a celebrity talkshow. Also, Guru-Murthy said at the time that the areas of discussion with Downey Jr. had been agreed to beforehand.
He's a good, serious journalist. If you just want to advertise your movie, he's not the one to talk to.
@Jacob_Junge this was at a press junket. Press get given a few minute's each to talk to the actors and they then go broadcast the interview.
Downey and Tarantino both would just show up and speak to whoever is next. It wasn't an interview for channel 4 news
@@AdamfromFWCI It was very much for Channel 4 News, and they had been given 10 minutes instead of the usual 5, as well as their own room in the junket hotel, so the interviewees would at the very least be aware that it wasn't like every other interview. Also, I don't believe they have no say at all about which media they have to talk to.
Maybe Downey Jr.'s PR team hadn't properly informed him about what they'd agreed to with Channel 4 News, but that's not Guru-Murthy's fault.
As he said in a piece in the Guardian: "We don’t do promotional interviews on Channel 4 News. We agree with PR people that as well as talking about a new movie for a while we want to ask wider ranging questions on relatively serious topics, and we don’t guarantee to run any answers in particular.
When Robert Downey Jr’s PR man rang up asking what we wanted to talk about, we said we had no particular agenda but would ask about the new Avengers superhero movie and his recovery from jail and drug abuse to Hollywood stardom. [...] None of it should have come as a surprise, but I nonetheless offered him two opportunities to say “I’d rather not talk about this stuff”. He could have engaged more with the earlier questions and I’d have never had time for the ones he didn’t like. He could have played a dead bat with the serious stuff and the whole thing might have been dropped from the running order as too dull. He could have said he didn’t want to talk about himself and I’d have tried another serious topic."
But there's a far more important issue at hand here: You should really watch Derry Girls!
I 100% agree with Robert Irwin - absolutely fascinating, incredibly nice and somehow smoking hot too?
Forgot the dome was added back then.
The NYTs are fun. Not the same as a normal season, but the tasks are all great. The 23 and 24 always stand out to me, because of a couple interesting constants.
Did you see Robert Irwin’s Instagram post for Bindi’s birthday? “I think I’ll call him Brian.” 😂
I just watched it lol, adorable
Skyhooks! I sing that at karaoke. :)
I like the specials, but you a) don't get to learn about them like in a normal season and b) they usually end with a winner that I would not have given the win - and that includes most champion of champions
There's also a relief in knowing that if you don't love them all it's a one and done... and there is a pleasure, sort of, to yearning for a full season of the better ones. At least we'll never know if they got boring after 3 episodes. There's a pure joy to most of this cast that I'm just glad we caught once
Nah Krish is good. Channel 4 News best news. There's topics that people just avoid all the time even though they may be interesting or relevant, and he's good at pressing on stuff. Tarantino is known for being a knob.
Nawwww, the geodesic dome!! Sometimes ai forget that he hasnt always been there. It's a fun addition to the house.
Ps. Props for calling out that journo guy. 🤙
just for the record if you had gone "i bring myself" instead of robert irwin, it would have been 5 points, but noooo youa re too good for my parties you send some gloriofied zookeeper instead of the future taskmaste rof new zealand.......shame!
