To not have Miracleman/Marvelman or Swamp thing on there is.... I don't know. I recently re-read both of those and man are they great. Taking already established characters, characters he didn't even create and having 2 beyond words amazing runs on them... the man is a wizard. What he does in 16 issues on Miracleman (I'm American so it's always been Miracleman to me), which was his entire run, is astounding. How to fit that much story in 16 issues. And how he comes out and just kills it issue one on Saga Of The Swamp Thing and keeps going for that whole run... man.

at this point in time, lookalikes would've been a fine guess, but in my opinion, it was more likely prosthetics and makeup. though that was really john hurt in both roles, note how the faces look significantly paler than their necks. that the faces look like there's a good bit of foundation caked on was likely meant to invoke a fake face, whether makeup and/or prosthetic.

E.g., in the original V for Vendetta the finale was supposed to be a thought experiment of what happens when you confront fascism with anarchy. But since anarchy is a fucking stupid ideology that doesn’t work in IRL the Wachowskis fortunately decided to instead make it liberalism vs facism. Also the glorification of drugs was removed, thank god.

Egg in the Basket is egg IN toast, rather than on. You just use a drinking glass or something similar to cut a hole in the slice of bread. Place the bread in a pan with melted butter, and crack an egg into the hole. :3
Hugo Weaving is an amazing actor in this, despise his face never being seen.
The scene where Evie's hair is being shorn, that was Natalie's real hair, and that was her stylist doing it, to ensure it looked as real as possible with just one take.
The final fight between V and Creedy's men I think is a case of V's nerve endings being scorched by the fire so he doesn't feel pain anymore.

      The Mask, please no/
That movie is terrible, I stand by my statement that the only good Jim Carrey movies are The Truman Show and Liar Liar.

This movie taught me how to be free. Freedom is not free. Comfort is crippling. Fear in lies are shackles. Diversity is strength. I sound like Grant from Montypool (perspectively top tier film as well).

Definitely should react to Count of Monte Cristo too. Great movie. There's a new one from 2024 as well, but the 2002 one is the one you want more than likely.

Roger Allam is the right wing tv presenter - he plays a dead funny pilot character, First Officer Douglas Richardson, in the Radio 4 comedy series called "Cabin Pressure" with Benedict Cumberbatch as his co-pilot. Well worth listening to.

I always wondered if V had meant right from the start to give Evey a speedrun at his life to kill her fear and give her understanding of Valerie's letter, or if he meant to just like, punish her in revenge at the start for betraying him and give her guilt, like 'these are the people you betrayed, these are the monsters you sided with'. But when Evey refused to give any information about V to what she thought were her captors even when they tortured her, V was impressed and flattered and admired her spirit and was like 'oh crap, wait, she actually deserves a chance to learn from Valerie, I feel like garbage and a monster because I'm seeing someone building themselves into a person who doesn't deserve to be tortured'. Like, I wondered if he watched her ready to die for him and fell in love with her then.

42:14 - Screenwriters are always like "okay all we need to do now in the end is for one of the main characters to say 'he was my father' at the end out of nowhere and the audience will go crazy lol"
I know this is not necessarily the case for this movie but it's kinda funny to think of how some movies end in that way. Seb was about to flip out though XD

You’ve never heard of The Count of Monte Cristo? It is the quintessential revenge story. There have been at least two movies of it. The novel was written by the author of the Three Musketeers.

Scary how much this film relates to today's world in the UK. Especially during Covid. Endless Wars and now the tap Water is more contaminated than it's ever been....
I've always said that V needs to exist in today's world. The UK would benefit from him lol.

The fact that this film works as well if not better today than it did in 2005 is crazy. Ive always loved this film, but i love it even more now with how bad the governments got (US specifically in my case)

The tv show host stated that he threw out the government approved script and wrote a new one that morning. So the government had no idea that this was what he was going to show on tv which is why they got so angry

Hugo Weavings performance in this movie is pretty much the opposite of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. Anthony Hopkins has extreme closeups to his face he only has his eyes and small facial movements to portray the character, no gestures and body composure at all. and here we have the opposite, no face at all but its all movement and gestures.

This film (and the graphic novel that came before it, though the film does alter the themes and parallels somewhat) was meant as a warning, but our leaders took it as an instruction manual.
It's chilling living in the UK and watching intolerance and zealotry rise. To be clear before anyone misreads my intention, I'm mostly referring to the far-right/conservative side of politics and how it slides ever further into bigotry, but even on the left there have still been some impacts from this, as politics have developed more and more of a black-and-white, us VS them mentality. Which only makes it easier for people like this film's Adam Sutler to prey on people's hatred and fear to take power.

This was the first movie I saw in the theater that was, rather intense, & actually made me think more about things this movie projects such as society, government, deceptive practices in both, the way people even simply treat eachother, being your own person as well being part of a collective or group, etc., what "standing for something" rather truely means. So so many things. 😀 I was 17 at the time you know, perfect timing for this. 😆😆 Now around 20 years later, after all what happened between the years 05 & 25. Well, I'm sure there's a few people know what & how I feel. Fantastic movie. Fantastic story. All of it.
