Hey guys thanks for the videos, thanks to them i was able to do the timing chains on my 3.0 tfsi 2010 S5, first chain replacement at 235k km and 13 years of age, pretty good replacement interval :D , i dunno why im sharing but i just wanna let u know ur videos help ppl everywhere. Thanks from Serbia!
Not Boring at all, great to see how you tackle each engine in its own way, I’ve got no intention of ever stripping an engine, but still love seeing the process👏👏 Would like you guys to have a look at my B6 S4 cab at some point in the near future👍
I bought one a couple months ago with 71k miles for £25k, reduced from £28k but with the full RS performance exhuast, DRC and dynamic steering. A bit of a bargain as its immaculate and running well. Infact i probably need to bring it to Vag Technic for a carbon clean and full service.
You won’t be disappointed with the results. He’s a genius. And I really mean it. He knows his stuff mate. You won’t go wrong and the carbon clean will make the difference apparent.
I've recently picked up a very minor damaged category S for £10k, 60k miles very clean apart from the panel damage. Will look to get it walnut blasted too 😁
Always love watching your videos. Always learing something and I love how thorough you are. Oh, and you need a new smoke alarm, I can hear it beeping 😂
Great video as always. At £10k, I think I would rather find a really nice example in perfect working order and a good history because once you throw in a full suspension rebuild, subframe repair, plus a few other things (as always happens) the cost could be heading into the ball park of a really nice example, maybe exceeding it.
Not exactly, most of the time this cars have all the same issues, better buy one to renew all and you can drive a few years without worrying anything, if you buy a "good one" you get it all within one year.
Won’t be perfect. Would have to do some work on it. Not everyone is as diligent in keeping bc their car running at its best all the time. Takes effort. Knowledge. And a damn good mechanic!!!
That’s crazy, the same thing happened to my rs4 in cylinder 5, snapped Intake valve, but the valve stem and springs were in place just the bottom part came off. I was at 8000rpm on a pull when it happened and I think the valve jammed inside the guide. I would like to know your opinion on a problem I have with the rebuild engine, I’m currently breaking it in and after warming the engine up at idle I occasionally get G301 incorrect correlation and G61 Knock sensor 1 signal to low. The engine used to shake at idle but now it doesn’t anymore and the error comes up less frequently, I have so far driven about 250km on the engine. I have swapped oil solenoid valves and cam sensor to no major improvements, other the engine running better with time.
A lot of corrosion underneath cars like that could also mean if the car is owned by someone who lives near a seaside or a coastal line, the sea salt, in the air can corrode the car pretty bad underneath
It’s always cylinder 5 on these and the rs6’s, I’ve seen this happen when people free rev the engine to redline. Sort of like the valves bounce and snap the valve springs? Really weird.
Hello from Virginia, USA. Getting code P0018 on my 2013 B8.5 S4 (88.000 miles) I have replaced all the cam and crank sensors and it is still there. Do you suggest replacing the upper timing tensioners next? Any help is appreciated.
6:55 EXACTLY the level of antirust coating is appalling Audi should do much better. On my audi A7 the corrossion on undercarriage looks 3x worst then on that RS4 :(
Does anyone know if these issues are likely caused by poor maintenance and over driving (eg. Not waiting until the car gets up to temperature before revving it out)? I’ve got a 2014 rs4 with 68k miles. Full main dealer history and all the extra bits done at the right time. I never give it more than 3.5k revs until it’s up to temp. These videos are somewhat scary so if anyone knows if I should be doing preventative work or if what I’m doing already is likely to keep the engine running well that would be very good to know! Cheers
@@VAGTechnicin that case it’s the manufacturers fault then huh? If the factory valves can’t handle the factory redline then Audi is at fault here no? Shame these problems get put on the consumer
I said same about the BMW’s. I don’t think it changes just by changing manufacturer. The BMW’s I was becoming really good at fixing after doing a few, now becoming hood at Audi’s. But at least BMW never had timing chain issues and not located between engine & trans.
Which engine oil do you put in your TDI cars and they are safe enough or good enough? Is the normal engine oil like "Full synthetic engine oil, e,g, Mobile-1 5W-30 with small stamp at bottom corner "for European Cars" is good enough? Or for these TDI engine we have to have go with those special LiquiMoly brands like which are made only for diesel engines?
When you have a seized engine you really wonna try to turn it without the serpentine belt. You'd be surprised how many engines get written off as seized simply due to seized alternator or other accessories.
I like the wat you diagnose and fix the problem but sadly not happy with the amount you charge to repair the car. I am sure it will be mich cheaper to repair from the main dealer
I did transmission oil and filter change job for 2016 A7 with TDI engine. I filled the oil without pump, using long break hose and funnel, channeling from engine bay. After leveling the car I started to fill the pan but only after 2.75 quarts it started spilling out from fill plug (means its filled). It gave me doubts that only 2.75 quarts, as I was expecting 4 to 6 at least? I just finished this job and haven't started the car yet because of this situation if it is an abnormal situation. I will start when I will feel comfortable. Please share your experience with 2016 TDI A7 if you had any. Is it normal and I should go ahead and start the car and it will take more (4 to 5 quarts) after?
Yet again some poor sod has paid audi for the most shallow of diagnosis. It was quite clear that the main dealer has done nothing there except release a generic statement.....again.
A lot of people say that...but I've got a 22 year old A4 with over 200k miles and a 17 year old TT with 120k and both run fine. How many 22 year old fords, Peugeot, vauxhal etc do you see on the road these days.
In the UK cars have to pass MOT every year. Removed cat’s would be picked up in emissions tests I would expect. Then you would have a lot of explaining to do.

Audi's powder coating is **** poor. This would have been a £60k+ car new. Lanogard or something can go some way to protect.
