Truly appreciate mentioning the benefit of doing multiple methods for getting your merits. We're too min-max focused as consumers within this entire industry, which is why folks don't play games for longer than a month anymore. And it sucks! Make gaming fun again by getting out of your box!
It's definitely more fun, I'd rather kill ships than fighters. But in terms of earning merits, I'm not sure it's more profitable... it takes longer to kill ships than fighters, it probably gives more merits to kill fighters if you have a steady supply of them.
I think compromised nav beacon in the right system is better. No hastle to fight only fighters. Gotta be fast with killing them tho, so not a medium ship, best will be Corvette, anaconda and cutter, even type 10 work too, but not so agile
How many merits do you get there for ship kills and how long do they take? Main reason I focused on fighters is that you don't get noteriety or bounties for kills even if not in anarchy.
I logged a bug with FDev a while back that said that if you buy and engineer a Stellar Python Mk 2 for Arx - and keep the default loadout, the rebuys are 0, and thus the bounties are like 7600 credits per kill. You still get notoriety. I hope they've fixed it.
That seems to be the case. I haven't died yet, but I've seen a few videos about how you don't lose them. You also don't lose them each cycle like before. I know this isn't a concrete answer, but I hope it saves you some trouble
Ya as long as you stay with the power merits only add, and are not deleted. You don't turn in merrits, you do actions to earn them (sometime by turnign in bonds and science) but ya they should stay.
o7, I appreciate your guides, great work cmdr. But do you have any idea why I'm not getting any merits with this method? I am pledged to Jerome Archer and I've made my way to Gateway system (Edmund Mahon stronghold) and I get no merits for fragging fighters.
ok, so in case anyone is having the same issue. I didn't get merits because I went to opposing power HQ carriers. It turns out that you cannot gain merits in HQ system because these are unassailable. You have to fight SLF's in any enemy stronghold, just not HQ system. o7
@BarbarisII The yield is not spectacular when compared with some other activities, but I was already doing it as a way to keep others supplied with materials.
Not for fighters.. they move to fast and both beams and pulses do not work well. Gimbaled weapons don't track as precicely as I'd like and so it take much longer to kill a fighter with lasers (I tried for 20 min to see if this was a good idea) than with misiles.
I have an assignment this week to recover classified data from my home system. I think this means I have to get it from a settlement but I'm not very familiar with surface missions. Does anyone know where I should go to get this? What happens if I simply choose not to do this one?
The most useful advice they've given me so far regarding PP 2.0 was to read all the letters of the tasks very carefully... and even then there are things that are still wrong, which FDev continues to correct. In normal missions, the settlements where we should go are marked on the map with a mission sign, in PP 2.0 I'm not sure.
They spawn at data ports in odyssey settlements, more specifically in Power generator buildings, Command centers and Security centers. But are little bit rarer than other powerplay stuff. I managed to gather 9 for a DAY. It takes time.

Compromised Nav Beacon will net you 63 merits per kill and 3 merits per scan plus the bounty on the ship. It might be more worth the time spent.

tu as un système a nous donner avec une balise de navigation qui rapporte 63 mérites?
Where to find it

I'm enjoying the merit system so far. Wish you got a few more for bounties, but whatever. Going to give this a go later on.

o7 Cmdrs.
Quick and perhaps a little stupid question... if we die, the merits already achieved continue to count, right?

Correct! Nothing can touch your already earned merits!

With which engineer do you modify the missiles and what improvement does it have?
I can tell you but it's better for you to know how to look this up... You can use inara.cz/elite/engineers/

This can create interesting situation for pvp engagement. But i wonder if this activity has any effect on the powerplay dynamic.
Could it have ?
It would be excellent to see faction wars happening. Gotta avoid the cqc folks though, they'll smoke you like a vape in high school
Oh ya... I drop around 5000 undermining per houre there.
Forgive my ignorance, but how did you get a secondary voice to state target/system status?
I run a bunch of apps... I am making videos on each of the apps which support Elite on the channel so keep an eye out.
The immersion is almost suffocating.

@@AtlasRandGaming ok merci pour le conseil!
Will it be possible to do this in a Type 10 defender with turreted multicannons and SLFs?
Can confirm. AFK farming pirates does produce merits.
@perilousrange omg I need a type-10 so bad lol
@BarbarisII The yield is not spectacular when compared with some other activities, but I was already doing it as a way to keep others supplied with materials.
Not for fighters. Both lasers and multicannons are not accurate enough. Hence switching to misiles.
If i haven’t got hound misiles, what should I use ?
Gimbailed "Long Range" or "Efficient" Beam or Pulses should work fine.

If you don't have pack hounds just use normal seeker misiles.
