Hi ! Thank you for sharing. How do you manage your blood sugar after doing HIIT workouts? Every time I do HIIT workouts my sugar goes low for almost half of the day and drops often
hey! my endo told me to suspend my insulin about 20% less before, 45% less during and 20% less after my HIIT workouts (: idk if that will work for everyone but it’s helped me a lot so it could be worth a try!
I normally suspend my pump and do weight lifting then cardio. I’m different though, I usually will drop during and go high afterwards. Make sure to snack and hydrate afterwards to help avoid any post workout lows. A nice protein shake may do the trick.

The night time lows are such a debilitating problem in losing weight. I'll easily eat like 1500+ calories when that happens. Then it also screws up how I feel the next day.
In the beginning, you were really talking like looking into my head and reading my thoughts! I would love to lose like 15kg (so I guess that is like 30lbs, or a little bit less). In the video, you were mentioning you have a child, how was it to be a diabetic of type 1 and pregnant? This is something I am really scared of. Is there another way how to be in touch with you (another social media than youtube comments :) )?
Being pregnant with T1D was great for me, all 3 times. My blood sugars did drop lower, which did mean I ate more, but I was pregnant and baby needed the extra calories. I was on a Medtronic insulin pump for all 3 and used CGM with the last 2. Don't let Diabetes scare you away from trying/doing anything you dream of. Take good care of you, and all things are possible. (25 years with Type 1, I've been through alot) Great luck to you
@@Wandafully_Wanda Hey, thank you for your reply :). I actually already lost 6 kgs, because just because of this video I started to go to a gym and lift weights (like not very heavy, but several times). We have almost lockdown in the Czech Republic now, so the gyms and fitness centers are closed, but my friend has a "gym" in his basement, so I can exercise there (still now it is way less than what it was in September and the second half of August). I am happy you have the Medtronic pump - I will go to the hospital on Monday for it and hopefully, I will stop having hypoglycemias. Can I ask you, what is the average sugar level you have with the pump? I have usually like 7 or 8, but it would be great to have 5 or 6 without having low sugar levels (and after usually higher ones like up to 13 mmol/l)
@@ladazadranska143 when it came to my A1C while pregnant, I was down to a 6-7. No matter what I ate/did I would go low almost every other day. And when I was pumping milk I would go low daily because of what I was burning off. Our Diabetic lives are a huge juggling act, but with proper care and assistance, we can fulfill any goal we set. Good luck on your journey.
You are lucky you only gain weight after you eat a lot.. Me??.. Cut carbs, eat once a day, eat healthy.. Still gain 3-4 kg one week after starting insulin.. Now matter what I eat.. And no matter the exercise..
Im learning that if you dont eat carbs, you DONT need insulin. So I've changed my diet and am losing weight by eating salad, meats, and meals that have SIGNIFICANTLY lessened carbs by brands like Birch Benders or Real Good. Anything keto will probably have 3 to 8 Net carbs for anything from cupcakes to food bowls. Light Juices also seem way better especially for low bg, with only 9 carbs per 8 oz. Bottom line, your dependency on insulin is based on carb consumption, however your weight does also. Change the diet AND workout or walk, and I PROMISE your goal will happen.
i have diabetes type 1 aswell and i was thinking that losing weight is kinda impossible . but after i saw ur video u gave me some motivation not gonna lie .. and im starting a program of training from tommorow . thank you so much for the video ( sorry about my english )
It's really interesting how so many diabetics vary in their diets. I also struggle with an unhealthy relationship with food even though I am skinny myself. I lost a lot of weight because I cut back on a lot of carbs, almost to the point of keto. But recently I've been hearing about how being so restrictive and eating little to no carbs and high fat would do damage to my body and it isn't attainable in the long run. I've been allowing some carbs back but it has to be carbs from fruits, veggies, and legumes. I know I gain a lot of weight eating a lot of breads, rice, pasta, and tortillas. Also some stuff that are low in carbs are very high in fats and calories which can screw up cholesterol levels and harm the body. I've been trying to eat a little more carbs that are healthy. I'm staying home alot I'm upping my workout regimen and eating a lot more but a lot more veggies. I'm always scared about complications in the future like kidney failure and gaining back all the weight I lost but what I should focus on is how healthy I'm eating. I don't buy scales because I know I will be very obsessed with numbers. My sugars have always been great and with my Dexcom I can have better control.

I have type 1 diabetes but also rheumatoid arthritis, ankylising spondylitis and fibromyalgia. I take long term steroids and have just had my knee replaced. Exercise is anywhere between very different and completely impossible so the last thing I'm going to waste money on is a gym membership. I know it will sound bad, but if type 1 is the only weight issue you have out there, you are doing well. You just have to adjust insulin carefully and keep in touch with your care team. I would like to point out that if your blood sugars are high, you don't have enough insulin and if you do cardio your body will release glucagon without insulin to counteract it and your blood sugars could go through the roof. Don't know about the States but in the UK the advice would be don't exercise with blood sugars higher than 16 mmol/L.
I can relate so much. I just came back from a walk and sugar dropped. I was so defeated because I drank..ate all the calories I just walked off. It's annoying
I’ve found I need to take insulin if my sugars high before working out but I need to keep an energy drink as the hour after my workout I will often drop low. Basically if my sugar is under 180 pre workout no insulin and if it is I take usually 1 less unit than normal with my correction shot. I also keep track of my weight because I’ve been using a calorie tracker that made me realize how much I’m eating and I was also eating a lot when I wasn’t really that hungry. As I lose weight the amount of calories I burn just to stay alive and move my weight around have also decreased so in my case tracking my weight is important and is helping me in this long weight lost journey.(started august 23rd 2021 at 261lbs and I’m now down to 246.4lbs as of oct 11 2021, hoping to hit 215 by July of 2022 and my ultimate goal of 185 probably within 2 years after that as I expect my weight loss to start and really slow down past 215.
You have not explained it any better I've been dealing with diabetes ever since I was 8 years old and it's so hard to work out really hard without your blood sugar being really low and a scary low like 37 like it's been so hard for me I worked out where I don't work out anymore but I do clean and that is the only workout that I do training is a very hard job because you are constantly moving but my blood sugar still goes low I am the kind of person that my blood sugar is always high but it does go low when I am active but you said it all I love how you explain things in this video please explain more

Hello i have diabetes type 1 and they gave me medicine like 1000 mg two pills a day but i dont take them at all they make me feel horrible!! And i just try to eat good less carbs and i stopped drinking soda i use to drink it alot ! But before i didnt know i had diabetes I use to weight 165 and now i weight 140 but i feel like im lossing to much weight is that normal ? My sugar levels are never normal but i dont feel bad at all
I’ve struggled with dieting in the sense that since I’m eating healthy my sugar always drops low. So I never know how to maintain a good diet where my sugar doesn’t drop AND I can loose weight.
Hi, Do you take pre work out?? And what type of protein shake do you take if Any? Just found out I’m pre diabetic. I have stated to change my eating habits ( been cycling and doing cardio.
I can't find a video for weight gain it's always how to lose weight. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about 2 months ago. Before I was 60 kg and I am 5'5 in height but I lost so much weight because of diabetes when I went to the doctor I was 49 kgs. But after I was put on insulin I gained weight but only like 2 or 3 kgs. My recent weight was 51 something and i now think I'm at 52 but it seems like I'm stuck at 52. My bmi may now be normal but visually I look so underweight and I want to get back to my old weight which is at 60 kg. They say that once type 1 diabetics are put on insulin they will go back to their old weight but mine is not. Pls someone help me. I would love to hear some tips and advice.
Hey , thanks for sharing your journey ! I’m a type 1 diabetic , I have some bumps built up in my injections sites which are making me look fat rather than shredded , any suggestions ?
always change your injection sites! never use the same over and over again. If you do so, you will get scar tissue on this site, which will influence the effect and time the insulin has - so you will get a less predictable and less stable blood sugar. Also you get the bumps which will make you look fatter than you are. So always change the injection site.
@@chittampallysrinivas7481 You're welcome :) And I forgot to mention: the sharper the needle, the better. So change your needle as often as possible - in the best case a new one every injection.
Start switching the areas where you inject. That can cause serious problems later in the future. From what I know, you're injecting in the muscle. Be careful and stay healthy.
It really has little to do with eating too much in many cases, If you have bad control you will be skinny due to ketone acidosis which is bad, if your control is too good you will get fat due to insulin telling the body to produce fat, working out and eating low carb so you only use a little insulin is the only way to lose weight and still be healthy for a type 1. People that have no clue about diabetes always try to say eat less and you will lose weight but that is not how it works for us unfortunately.
How do carb for a smoothie? I've only been diagnosed for a little under 4 years and I still haven't figured out how to inject for carb-y liquids. Any advice?
I buy frozen fruits (besides bananas) and I portion and measure the ingredients I'm putting in. It's also helpful to opt for things like unsweetened soy milk and organic / plant based protein powder. The sugar from the fruits does absorb quickly so I try to remember to bolus before I go to make it.
Thank you for this video, I'm struggling to lose weight. I've been type 1 since 2019 (I'm 29) and cannot lose the weight. How long did it take you to start seeing a difference?
What I experienced: I have the feeling i need 3x to 4× more time to lose weight than a person without diabetes. It needs longer and you need to be patient...😅
I’ve had diabetes for over 10 years and yet i didn’t control it ,it affected me for the first time and my doctor prescribe me new insulin and I’ve gained weight but I didn’t like my weight it’s getting the best out of me so now I’m trying to control my eating cause I over it and I’m working out which feels great I feel like a new person I’ve understand my condition more I’ve loved my body more and I’m going to make it even more healthier so for the people who has diabetes ur not alone u can do it we can all do it ❤️

Lada Zadranská Instagram @t1dbritt 😊

Great job, thanks for sharing
Good video . Im type 1 also and having a hard time losing weight. Dont have the energy after working all day. Gonna try starting the gym again tmrw.
i read the title and i already loooooove youuuu
Can you please share your specific Weight lifting routine? 😫
You have not explained it any better I've been dealing with diabetes ever since I was 8 years old and it's so hard to work out really hard without your blood sugar being really low and a scary low like 37 like it's been so hard for me I worked out where I don't work out anymore but I do clean and that is the only workout that I do training is a very hard job because you are constantly moving but my blood sugar still goes low I am the kind of person that my blood sugar is always high but it does go low when I am active but you said it all I love how you explain things in this video please explain more
Thank you for sharing such an informative video ❤️❤️
started excersising again. gained muscle, did not loose anything. weighted myself, it is plus 10kg from last year, I im just much stronger on a bike than before, lol. it sucks. type2

Please get back with me it's always nice to share the same kind of health issues I feel like you totally understand nobody has understand what I have been through until I have watched your video I've been struggling with this ever since I was 8 years old and now so if you could get back with me that would be awesome it would be nice to have a friend endless struggle times
OMG you are saying all the things I do everyday all day long
Hello i have diabetes type 1 and they gave me medicine like 1000 mg two pills a day but i dont take them at all they make me feel horrible!!
What kind of weight workouts do you do?
I target specific muscle groups each day. Legs, Back/Bi's, Chest/Tri's, & Shoulder/Abs is usually how I do it.
Thanks for this video, thanks for helping me x
GOALS!!!
You're Sweet! :)
You are so good person. Thanks
How much Insulin do you take daily?? It's so hard for me losing weight and diabetes?? I'm also a Insulin dependent..on pump..
@@ma_nu thank you mate 💝🙌
@@chittampallysrinivas7481 You're welcome :) And I forgot to mention: the sharper the needle, the better. So change your needle as often as possible - in the best case a new one every injection.
Start switching the areas where you inject. That can cause serious problems later in the future. From what I know, you're injecting in the muscle. Be careful and stay healthy.
I just subscribed you have motivated me
When youre in a calorie deficit but you eat 600-1000cals of low snacks cause it just aint going back up 😭
It really has little to do with eating too much in many cases, If you have bad control you will be skinny due to ketone acidosis which is bad, if your control is too good you will get fat due to insulin telling the body to produce fat, working out and eating low carb so you only use a little insulin is the only way to lose weight and still be healthy for a type 1. People that have no clue about diabetes always try to say eat less and you will lose weight but that is not how it works for us unfortunately.
Recently i have started putting on weight, which is good from diabetes perspective but i preferred the keto phase
Did u cut the carbs? Did u tried low carb?
It's awesome I love it
I m not so much fat but my tummy is big
What to do
I got diebitic after pregnancy
every time i’m in the gym my bloodsugar goes low no matter how much i eat, it’s so hard to lose weight, i can’t stop going low it’s so hard :(
How can I gain weight safely and effectively?
How do carb for a smoothie? I've only been diagnosed for a little under 4 years and I still haven't figured out how to inject for carb-y liquids. Any advice?
I buy frozen fruits (besides bananas) and I portion and measure the ingredients I'm putting in. It's also helpful to opt for things like unsweetened soy milk and organic / plant based protein powder. The sugar from the fruits does absorb quickly so I try to remember to bolus before I go to make it.
I have type one as well. Any tips to get my A1C down
How old were you when you were diagnosed with type one diabetics?
As a diabetic td1 i can t stop eating i was attacked when i have 13 now i am 19 and my weight is 85 kg with 160 like 🐮🐮
How many grams of carbs did you eat to lose weight? And is 113 g of carbs considered low carb?
Definitely not. 30-50 carbs a day is low carb. Read dr. Bernstein’s book “the diabetes solution”
I missed the HOW section....

You will gain weight overtime because of insulin be patient I promise
Thank you for this video, I'm struggling to lose weight. I've been type 1 since 2019 (I'm 29) and cannot lose the weight. How long did it take you to start seeing a difference?
What I experienced: I have the feeling i need 3x to 4× more time to lose weight than a person without diabetes. It needs longer and you need to be patient...😅
This isnt a "how to" video hun. I'm very glad you're journey has been successful so far though keep going.
