I am beyond grateful you started doing tutorials with glowforge!!! Board came out Beautiful. I'm so excited and can't wait for more future videos. Thank you!!!
You are not by yourself with wanting a Glowforge. I would love to get one of my own, but they cost way too much for me. At least I can dream about owning one.
@@ThingsKatieMakes I know it's not that big. But between the Cricut x2 + supplies, Sewing machine + supplies, scrapbooking and painting supplies it's a little crowded. I've been sewing and crafting for 25 + yrs. You accumulated a lot of supplies. Not counting the kids crafting stuff. ...lol.
Great video! QUESTION: I’m looking to cut acrylic (pink, light blue, pastel colors) for cake toppers. Would the Glowforge Basic cut acrylic or do I need to buy the Plus? Thank you.
This can sometimes work in a Glowforge, but sometimes not. If it can fit in the bed where the laser can actually move over it, you can set the focus on the lower part - but if it doesn't fit, you''ll have to use something like a stencil and torch paste instead!
I've had my Glowforge Pro for a year now and I don't even use it anymore, it's an expensive toy, it gets too dirty and I don't find much use for it. On top of that, without the premium you can't do almost anything and $50 dollars a month is a robbery and very disrespectful to those of us who already paid six thousand dollars for that machine.. Now we can cut vinyl, yayyy! Never mind, they added just for premium members.
Hi Y - it's such a bummer that you don't use your machine. The only things you can't do without premium are design right within the software and cut slightly faster. Vinyl can be cut without premium!!
@@ThingsKatieMakes thanks for the info about vynil cut without premium, thats awesome but actually you need premium for font, OUTLINE, mirror an image and more. I really need those tools, i make svg files from my iPad, the easiest way and need outline them. Its a pain without premium, always i have to use others programs when my $6000 machine can do the job but its not user friendly without the expensive monthly fee.

Glowforge where are you!? Glowforge come to me.. please...lol. I would need another building/ she shed.
Gena - it isn't that big actually - they designed it to fit in homes!
@@ThingsKatieMakes yes...but the extra shed would be for all the supplies and the things I would be engraving...lol.
@@genascott3051 right??

The basic can cut acrylic
@@LauraLopez-es7ku thank you.
Hi Amira! The biggest consideration for the differences is size that you can cut - so if you are focused on cake toppers - the BASIC is GREAT for you!
@@ThingsKatieMakes thank you!
Don't forget to oil to seal that so its food safe
what or how can you engrave items that have high sides but the middle is flat.

You didn't have to choose a material type?
