- Continuing the presentation of the Guest Cars we had at Retro Rides Gathering 2019, we have today probaby the most unique of the bunch, a proper Hot Rod version of a 1930 Ford Model A, here powered by a Buick 6.6L V8 "Nailhead" Engine.
Built, owned and driven by Gavin Meanley, this is the very first pre-1945 car featured on our Channel, and with comes quite a number of technical solutions ( some would say problems... ) like the fact that it uses drum brakes and crossplys... But of course. with over 300Hp moving this incredibly stripped out machine, it is still impressively quick for such a Vintage machine...
But we´ll leave that for you to evaluate.... - Авто/Мото
Its fun to see these oldies driven like they were by the delinquents of their era!
He's just practicing for when he has to run moonshine down some logging roads later that afternoon
You joke about it but that's how Nascar was born.
@@AndrewLewer90 it truly is no laughing matter
@@AndrewLewer90 they should stop by at my house

@@Alex-di8ti funniest thing I've heard in a week award goes to you sir 🏆
I never would've thought that a Mafia would do a hillclimb with a model A
What a beast! It takes balls to pitch a Model A into a corner like that and let er' snort the whole way! On skinny bias plies no less! Too cool!!
Man I miss that car. I’m so glad you finished it and drove the crap out of it.
What da heck?! Am I dreaming or in the wonderland?! Why is a fuck1ng hot rod in a Hillclimb?! 🙄😂
Because we invited it ;)
@@HillClimbMonsters lel xD
There’s several hillclimb events for hot rods, one of them being at this same track called GOW!
Mafia 1 fastest car ever!
A proper Game... Retro too, so very fitting...
@@HillClimbMonsters Agreed, my old time favorite back then. From that game i was begin to love the cars from that aera and Jazz music! Always played it with 1 bottle of Jack and alot of Malboro's. These car are dream cars!
That engine sound is so intoxicant !
I can't help it !
Now this is something you don't see every day-hot rod on hillclimb. What a cool car and driver is having a lot of fun.Glad you guys share some quite unique machines with us as well.Another reason why i love this channel so much.
Looks like it was a handful to drive quickly, but lots of fun at the same time ... :D
definately a monster! that much torque with crossplys and drums all round!
Hillclimbin' HotRods... hell yeah!
🤘😎🤘
Cool 😎.. handles like my old Bedford..
So cool ....some hairy moments there ..love it
Way to cool!!
I have *NEVER* clicked on one of your videos so fast. How tf did I miss this?
It sounds like it's peaking the audio of almost every camera, which makes me laugh a little inside.
Bloody hell, that ain't exactly built for hillclimbing (and it shows haha!) The poor old thing was struggling to go in a straight line, let alone get round the bends! Cool looking car though, for sure!!!
Coolest hillclimb monster EVER!
This beats them 4 cylinder banging n farting up that hill. Great video thanks for sharing 👍
Our pleasure ;)
Tom O'Hawk the vast majority of model a hill climb cars are 4 cylinders
lasso liter grabity
Wow! Awesome yet scary. Brig on wheels.
This was very scary, I fought it’d be a drag race, and I was shocked to see it going uphill.
Driving that fast uphill without power steering (the way the driver was steering looks like there isnt power steering) and in this type of car that could roll over easily is very ballsy.
Salia Berthé in the states old model a’s and Chevy couples dominate hill climb races. But this yuppie european’s naive thought that faster=better by putting a 1,500 rpm peak torque engine on a light body isn’t the way it’s done in the states. The Americans were also doing 4 cylinder lightweight easily throwable around corner cars too.
tassel liter aim
That was sweet!!
Did you get any vids on that supra at 2:45?
obsidian vert no awgu
Why am I now just finding out that the Mafia had v8 engines 😭

I want to build something like this before I'm 30
I remember saying the same thing when I was 30, I'm 63 now and never got round to it, so if your gonna do it get on with it. When you've finished let me know and I'll come and pat you on the back. ✌😁👍
same here dude.
I just inherited a 32 pickup with a nailhead lol and I'm 31
center piece mirror narrow pillar margin
GOODLUCK CATCHING HIM COPPERS!!
6.6L, 401ci, 8 cylinders, double 6pack looking intake/carb assembly, short headers.
probably makes 250hp at 3800rpm
Oscar Thorpe buick 401 nailheads made 340 horsepower and 445 pound feet of torque from the factory. I’ve got a 66 electra. Big old full size unsuspecting car that’ll rip block long burnouts like it’s not even trying.
Shukin Andjivin you have no idea the kind of monsterous torque a nailhead can produce that a Windsor can’t.
nothing like the sound of a big block! good to see it go sideways a little!
Almost as sideways as DW86 through The Esses!
no school like old school
Do anyone know who owns this car now?
I sold it to a chap called Sean Bramhall from Lancashire.
So cool! It’s crazy that in 1953 this engine produced over 300 hp!
Awesome.. cheers from Southern California..
Hi,Is there a video of the Ford RS200? What was behind the Hot Rod?
Gotta have a lot of courage to drive something that has pretty much no aero whatsoever. 😎
Hell yes!!!
Damn I Thought I Was Watching A Drag Racing Channel! And Also A Buick Swapped Ford Sounds Werid. Anyway Nice Video Mate!
AHR Red the Buick nailhead is a classic hot rodding engine especially back in the day. 450 foot pounds from the factory.
I don't doubt that it does a very good sound and that it would be good in a drag race, but I was scared during the whole video, I thought it would have crashed in litterally every moment.
Edit:also, the car at 1:05 in the background is a Ford RS200?
Good eye... and coming soon ;)
@@HillClimbMonsters Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
*YES!*
@lange darm oh, yeah, I remember that episode, it was one of the funniest I had ever seen.
