I've been feeling lately that Yellowhand is a better riposter than Rogue. 2 Bleed is around as much additional damage as you get out of upgraded Take Aim, with the upside that Duelist's Advance gives you nearly as many hits (and importantly, you can direct the first one and get the rest of the riposte tokens immediately, so you're not wasting it like you often are with late-fight Rogue risposte). Plus the bleed can chew through death armor, and you synergize with other bleed heroes like Jester or Surgeon.
I definitely think that the “best setup” for run away is highly dependent on the rest of the squad. She can be front or backline and this makes her really nice if you have had a death because you can switch her up significantly depending on where she has to go. Honestly I kinda prefer frontline ( or maybe rank two ) with orphan. Also low key really love fire starter on orphan. Crit tokens are fun. And it’s especially handy if you find that one trinket that greatly boost fire damage but lowers duration to one if you are running her as a backliner instead. The extra duration helps your damage build up start also helps with actually getting the burn proc and the unit you give the apply burn on hit buff to also helps sustain your big burns.
I don’t remember when but you talked about intructice duelist being secretly goated Cobbled together alc pd . Instructice duelist . Maniac flag . Ravager Hellion Gtbh it’s super fun to play around with and hitting 2 30+ dmg howling ends in a row is a new feeling of euphoria I discovered Beat act 4 for the first time with it (it’s been 60 hours since I started)
I don't know about best but I've had lots of fun running wanderer vestal in rank 3 with hand of light and judgment. The damage is surprisingly good and judgment hitting every rank is incredibly useful. The only things that suck are getting moved since HoL can be used in rank 4 and judgment can't be used in rank 2, and the damage can be really swingy. I swear I hit the min damage roll more on juiced up judgment than any other move except leper chop.
Can't say I ever thought of using Banneret up front before, typically just go Wanderer. I don't usually use Crusader for tanking (as there are seemingly so many better options) so Bulwark has never been a priority skill for me. Will have to give it a try.
Crusader, Aggressor, Zealous Accusation, Stunning Blow, Reap, Inspiring Cry, Holy Lance. Second rank to proc Holy Lance during a shuffle and crazy dots with huge trinket synergy from sprawl.
@@blackwidow7804 You don't use Aggressor for the damage, you use him as your tank and cleaner. Bulwark, Zealous, Inspiring, Battle Heal, Smite. Sit in rank 2, open with Bulwark and start tanking. If the frontlines have death armor or one's about to die, use Zealous next turn. Inspiring is used near the end of a fight or for emergencies, and Battle Heal is there when the main healer's busy. If you've got enough healing going around, swap it out for Holy Lance in case you get ambushed or shoved back. The fight typically ends with Smite, as Reynauld's been doing the tanking and has usually taken stress damage. Getting 2 stress healed at the very end means a lot for the journey to the next fight. Meanwhile, everybody else is free to go ham at the enemy team from round 1 and avoid a lot of punishment. *They* get to be the big damage dealers we all want them to be.
Just discovered the dd1 and loving the game, tried dd2 last night and it’s a totally different experience (not too sold in it yet) but I’ll give it more time..too bad it’s hard to find recent content for the first game
I know this is unpopular but I prefer rouge over yellowhand. Place him in rank 2, turn 1 take aim and just spam wicked slice or whatever else you need to do. When you need to re up take aim, do it. I’m able to use up my reposte tokens just fine most of the time. Maybe I’m just lucky? Most of his damage comes from wicked slice. Also rouge take aim also heavily synergizes with rat skull+cruel intent on console with shambler pet allows you to exploit the blind tokens for lots of crits. Mainly because it doesn’t cure blind on rouge like it does on other paths so he can make use of the +66% crit from cruel intent instantly. I just personally find yellowhand very underwhelming the way I prefer to play highwayman as I never really use his open vein skill. Just my preferred playstyle. Honestly I don’t understand why duelists advance doesn’t inflict bleed on its own, I feel like it should. Maybe just apply a 1 (2 when mastered) damage bleed so it’s not too overpowered. Feel like that would only work for me if I’m using a dance team. Dismas is just not the character that I’m looking for to deal bleed damage. I’d rather deal big direct damage and gank bosses with execute 2 when I use him. If I want a bleed focused character, I’ll just use old soloist with slice off and harvest as he’s the best at inflicting lots of direct damage and bleed. He can hit ranks 2-3 while yellowhand can only hit ranks 1-2. While slice offs bleed damage doesn’t change even when mastered, it applies vuln which allows another character to deal more damage to that enemy.
Thanks for the vid. I'd like to make a small request that when you show the suggested builds you read out the skills selected. I often listen to videos when I drive
@ShuffleFM Thanks for taking the time to respond! Probably at least the names. Most players who've done a few runs and unlocked all the skills can recognise the names. By all means add the ability description (at least the part that makes it good, no need to read out every damage number and modifier). For example you might say for the jester, go with razor's wit for combo, fade to black for blind (and complements movement of razor's), encore for party extra action, inspiring tune for stress heal and battle ballad for party movement and buff. This makes it easier to listen-follow then just saying 'I go with this setup' and showing it on screen. Thanks for your considerations!
I actually like Banneret as a backline dps/support. Recently I finished grand slam with Banneret Crusader>Alchemist PD>Wanderer GR>Wanderer MAA. The idea is to basically set up a combo with holy lance and blight something to death while having a team that's really hard to kill
I like him to start at 3rd rank and HL into 2nd on turn 1 to get rid of enemy back ranks asap. Then from the 2nd rank he can do all his support stuff. Works great with Jester who can shuffle with him in 2nd-3rd rank. Btw i did my Grandslam with: Hellion Ravager, Crusarder Banneter, Jester Virtuoso and PD Alchemist. I play on PS5.
I came to realise I rarely ever run a team without either HWM or our queen grave robber. The backline single target damage is just so high value. Would like to change things up but don't really know good teams that can still deal with the backline, without running either of those.
Flag, arsonist gr, burning stars occultist, alc pd all work well enough tho most of these stick in the backline flag is special bcs he goes in the front
I wish Arbalest and HM were in the game already. Currently replaying DD1 and relishing in my backline disabling options. DD2 gives you very few ways of dealing good raw damage to the backline, which makes act 2 teams very very similar to each other. You bring a Hellion (kinda risky since it can move her back), HWM or GR, pretty much no other option, the others just debuff or apply DOT on the backline which the lungs are immune to. I'm still sad that my favorite hero (BH) never made it as a permanent hero. I would've done anything to have that CRIT! 80'ing stunning caltroping chud back permanently.
I think sharpshooter is much better than rogue. Take aim is amazing, grapeshot becomes roof spaghetti on crack, and double tap is absolutely amazing. Sure, rogue gets execute 2 on upgraded wicked slice, but sharpshooter double tap gets execute 1 on upgrade, and it hits twice, so it is essentially execute 2. It also works great with trinkets that have a chance to do something on hit, it melts bosses faster with malediction, it can be used from rank 2 and it pushes you back, and upgraded applies combo on the second hit which is just the cherry on top. Only downside to sharpshooter is loosing access to stun on pistol shot
I wish there was some indication that a buff applies to your whole team. I always thought banneret tenacity was terrible cuz why would I spend a turn giving 1 person block?? Same thing tripped me up with ounce of prevention
great video! I don't totally get why its good to use bannerette in R1 and 2. I mean I know its playable buy why that over wanderer, if you want bulwark of faith ? As far as I can see, the omni heal and tenacity are the main reasons? What am I missing about this path. Thanks.
Banneret does almost everything wanderer does but has a better heal than wanderer, that's about it. You can run banneret in the back like it's seemingly intended and do fine. You can also run it up front and get bulwark, which is super good too.
As a recent newbie console player reaching the last act I agree with most of these recommendations especially the vestal and flagellant skill set however the game is heavily dependent on trinkets so swapping skills is a must, one thing that really pisses me off is the imbalance of token activation, for example, the enemy crits with blind dots almost every single time on my enhanced dodge token duelist and 90% of all games ends on a first-time death door check, is this a game mechanic? I feel the game keeps a score on your team build and then tries to outscore you by the end
