That’s fine now, but not in 6 months when use has degraded it. Every laptop I ever owned (windows) lasted at most 2 years until the m1 MacBook Air Even my secondary dell xps laptops I keep have to be replaced every 12-18 months cause of battery not lasting a full day of work anymore. I had the m1 MacBook Air for 3 years and it still gets 8+ hours on a charge (it got 18 when new) I recently switched my main m1 air to an m3 max 16” due to various reasons (pretty much everything is a massive improvement from that m1 air) and I’m hoping it can last me even longer

that shit has a battery life of an hour MAX on battery saver. If you need a workstation on the go for editing and rendering, the macbook is a no brainer and im saying this as a die hard windows fan. what apple has done with the M series macs is genuinley magic. even the basic spec MacBook airs which you can pick up for 800 dollars can outperform full workstation PCs on its battery alone.

You can find a 2015 MacBook Pro for under $160 that should work a bit better than the air. The 2015 MacBook Pro is also the best built MacBook you can get for reliability. If you can use an external monitor then you can probably find one with a broken screen for around $100 or less.
You can get 480Hz 18in gaming laptop with a AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX 32gb ram AMD Radeon RX 7900M with 1TB SSD and WiFi 6E for $2800. That’s not to say you can also put a 4090 in it or an Intel i9 cpu. You can also go up to 128gb of ram and 8 TB of storage
Battery life 2 hours, performance unplugged about 30% of total, worse speakers, worse display (in terms of color accuracy, brightness, hdr), as 120 FPS suffices, x86 instead of ARM, but way better gaming performance. Lastly: sadly final cut pro (his preferred software) is a proprietary Apple application.

Final Cut Pro is the goat, and even Premiere can’t deny that. The workspace is so clean, easy to use, and learning cool effects is very easy.

that shit has a battery life of an hour MAX on battery saver.
If you need a workstation on the go for editing and rendering, the macbook is a no brainer and im saying this as a die hard windows fan. what apple has done with the M series macs is genuinley magic. even the basic spec MacBook airs which you can pick up for 800 dollars can outperform full workstation PCs on its battery alone.

the things I would do for his old computer 😭 I currently edit on a early 2015 MacBook Air and used capcut as that is all it could handle. I tried using davinci resolve yesterday but the it crashed. I have so many ideas and skills but am so limited by my computer.
You can find a 2015 MacBook Pro for under $160 that should work a bit better than the air. The 2015 MacBook Pro is also the best built MacBook you can get for reliability. If you can use an external monitor then you can probably find one with a broken screen for around $100 or less.

You can get 480Hz 18in gaming laptop with a AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX 32gb ram AMD Radeon RX 7900M with 1TB SSD and WiFi 6E for $2800. That’s not to say you can also put a 4090 in it or an Intel i9 cpu. You can also go up to 128gb of ram and 8 TB of storage
Battery life 2 hours, performance unplugged about 30% of total, worse speakers, worse display (in terms of color accuracy, brightness, hdr), as 120 FPS suffices, x86 instead of ARM, but way better gaming performance. Lastly: sadly final cut pro (his preferred software) is a proprietary Apple application.
