Not to mention, the piece is stunning in its beauty, and the shots of the bartender and the woman just giving him their full attention, is very poignant, the emotion is all in their eyes as they stay silent.

Thank you so much for posting this. Oddly I think of Brian Dennehy as Donald the barman rather than the sheriff in Rambo. In this scene he just watches Moore play the piano. Not knowing that he plays the piano this must have been a huge wow moment for the character but he just sits, admires, and drinks. Him and Dee Wallace are just as important in this scene as Dudley Moore's excellence.

Dudley made this piano Sonnet by Henry Mancini his own and it is a work of art. unmatched by anyone else who has tried to play it. When I first heard this song in the theater I was mesmerized and have never heard anything as beautiful since. progressive Supranuclear Palsy Robbed him of his ability to play and some people thought he was drunk until he was finally Diagnosed. Such a terrible illness inflicted on such a funny and very talented musician He plays for God now

I was trying to think of a movie comparable to "10" today and I could not find one. Moore plays a guy going through a crisis, like most men at his age and it's done with grace, some great dirty jokes, but some great jokes all around. It's believable and real. Today, he'd end up in some weird farcical, sit-commy lame jokes strewn about. Moore gave an Oscar worthy performance... comedy is not easy, especially when its played within a realistic parameters. This scene here shows he;s a talented guy, a bit confused, hesitant to get serious with Julie Andrews, but he loves her, yet pulled with temptation... It's remarkable performance and likely my favorite Blake Edwards film.

The music to “10” was composed by Henry Mancini. This song is entitled “ It’s Easy to Say It’s Over.” The opening theme is called “ Don’t Call It Love.” That is the song that George and Hugh are composing in an earlier scene. Dudley Moore’s piano playing is marvelous. I’ve never figured out why I don’t hear these two songs more often in vocalists and pianist repertoires.

"Moore died on the morning of 27 March 2002 as a result of pneumonia, secondary to immobility caused by his PSP, in Plainfield, New Jersey, at the age of 66. Rena Fruchter was holding his hand when he died; she reported his final words were "I can hear the music all around me." '

My very good friend, Bob D'Arcy ( facebook.com/mr.bobdarcy ) was Dudley Moore's double/stand-in and he retold a moment after the illness, PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy - a rare, but related disease to Parkinsons), really took hold of him. Both Dudley and Bob enjoyed playing jazz piano together. Bob said that Dudley would stand beside the grand piano he owned or sit down in front of the keys, then try to play the piano but have his hands just hit the keyboard again and again until Dudley gave up and would walk away defeated and incredibly saddened. Bob would play for him on occasion, up until his passing. He told of some other fun times together, too, when Dudley was still healthy and before the disease really devastated his motor skills. They worked together on a few movies.

I remember an interview where Henry Mancini was asked by dudley Moore if he could make a few changes to the song and this is the version he did. They worried about whether or not the audience would want to hear 4 minutes of piano. Dudleys version could of been 5 minutes and not one should would have complained. He played a masterpiece within a movie. A very bright man indeed. .R.i.p Dudley your comedy and music ability was pure genius. ❤
