Wow, how he plays the Serenade for the Doll and the Cake walk... So beautifully poetic with such liveliness and genuine childlike joy. It's also exciting to see visual aspects of Cortot's playing: he sat straight at the piano, and apparently had a completely free playing style, with no unnatural body movements or facial expressions. By the way, this is what Liszt already taught to his students. So much can be learned from this.
Every movement starts at the elbows with the wrists functioning only as shock absorbers. The upper body's role is just to align the shoulders and by extension the arms with where they need to be on the keyboard. Cortot's technique was amazing and he wrote an instruction manual on it that any pianist should get a hold of. 'Rational Principles of Pianoforte Technique'.
Thanks very much for sharing. Maybe I'm a little bit greedy, would you please upload a 1080p version ? And I think the film can be colorized and restored to modern film quality.
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. It depends the original quality. Maybe they can re-scan the original material, that could help. But converting to HR only adds more MB, but no quality improvements.
@@derkvanderveen8938 what does the "corolized and modern" version care anyway? This is Cortot in his most pure and essential way, you should take it as it is in this moment.

Recording of playing by Cortot, but that extended ringing alarm is singularly annoying
Yes, and it would be easy to remove with software.
