All those times your dad embarrassed you by not caring if he was cringe? When you get older you realize the old man was actually pretty cool ;) Source: I'm a cringy dad now. Love your videos, Jake.
Honestly as a teenager the one thing you want to avoid is being called cringe but getting older the "cringe people" seriously had the most fun. And who ever said that finger skateboarding is cringe got to hell haha. Great message
Honestly, I'm trying to go back to my "cringy" preteen self. I was so out there and...me, and now i'm just a shell. I want to get back to that outrageous dork self I was
You being cringe is just having a good time and doing what you love. People these days always care about what others are doing and how people view them but if you forget about all that nothing really matters and you're just living your life to the fullest.
I get called "cringe" all the time on my channel, and I honestly see it as a compliment. It tells me that I'm pursuing that which makes me happy and brings me joy, regardless of whether or not it fits with society's narrative of what people "should" be doing. Wonderful video and this is a super important perspective!
I agree that if what your doing makes you happy you should do it regardless of other peoples perceptions but I would ignore it if that happens but if that were me I would ignore it why do you see it as a compliment?
@@notus299 because it means I’m on the right path for me. People often cringe at what makes them uncomfortable in themselves. Part of my work with my content is encouraging people to challenge their projections and become more accepting and welcoming to diversity, and the layers that we each possess as humans. I often say “the cringe is where the light shines in.” When I cringe at things, for instance, I ask myself the question, “what about this other person triggers something in me? What can I explore in myself?” When people cringe, that reaction has nothing to do with the other. It’s just a projection of what is going on inside oneself.
"and what if your hobby will always be cringy?" that actually is something i think i really needed to think. Realizing it stops from worrying about little things and focus on the main ones. For me its cosplaying. It could be really cool and really cringe at the same time.
It's a beautiful thing when someone gets to actually enjoy their passion and have a genuine smile of happiness on their face because of it instead of being afraid to do it bc of the opinion of others and I think that's cool.
Man your PP looks funny when it is little, it looks like you have a little body and a big head lol, i had to click on your profile to see you're just wearing a jacket😹
Trying not to be cringe and always tryna be cool and perfect is what spoils life. Small imperfections and showing love towards other even by being cringe is what makes life happier.
When I used to be cringey I did a lot of creative stuff and I was actually happy. I got called Cringe and I started to change and not be cringe but then I just lost my creativity
Not gonna lie, I needed this to most. I've been told many, many times how 'cringe' I am for doing the things I like or even accepting a favour, but I've come to realise after watching this video that, 'people just don't understand', and that's perfectly fine, I don't need those types of people in my life, only the ones that wants to understand more.
Being cringe is not cringe because you don't care about the opinion of others and that's cool bc the ones who limit themselves bc of others are the ones who are actually cringe.
Think about this So what's implied here is basically, "the opinions of others about you aren't important." True but that mustn't be ignored either, and neither should other types of opinions. The way to not get offended or have any reaction from others opinions of you is to not accept the ones that aren't true, don't matter, or are otherwise meaningless. Basically, don't react until you realize whether someone's opinion of you is true, and if it's a negative opinion about you, perhaps it's useful if it's something you can change, or if it's something else that isn't useful like an insult. It's not ignoring to realize something's just wrong. Ultimately, just think about what's said and don't react internally or externally until you've thought it through enough. Maybe
Such an amazing video Jake! This video honestly really helped me, because it's kind of tough sometimes to just go out there and press publish on a video when it feels like the whole world will somehow see and critique you. But cringe really is a superpower. It's only those who are willing to look weird or crazy that see the reward. Thank you so much for the encouragement!
I try to live by this too. The hardest thing is dealing with judgmental folks. In high school when I started making short films I lost friends because they thought even doing that was too out there. They're so afraid of being seen as cringe they judge anyone who embraces it. It must suck to live with such anxiety. Embracing the cringe is like hitting a release valve. There's certainly some nuance in cringe (it can stop people from doing things that aren't in their best interest), but overall embracing cringe is how people evolve and feel more comfortable with themselves. I also really like your editing and filming. Good shit Jake!
I mean nowadays kids say 'cringe' at more or less everything. As if being awkward sometimes wasn't in human nature. There's also pressure not to be 'cringe' in public because anyone will take out their phones and record you. This world is fucked man.

I’m not sure if this comment will show up on here, but if it does then that’s great! For a time I have beaten myself up for that particular word of “cringe” especially when it feels like something that doesn’t feel acceptable, or I don’t feel acceptable. But then after awhile.. I have found out that there’s always going to be someone out there who’s gonna call me “cringe” because of how I want to express myself. Especially if they don’t understand me and/or have a big ego because of that. Yes it does hurt to get hate and spat on, but at the end of the day MY HAPPINESS is more valuable than other people’s opinions. Not too mention to not let anyone’s harsh words tear me down for living the moment of my life. So yeah I can say that I am embracing my own kind of cringe since watching your video! Even if I end up becoming the King of Cringe, I think it might as well think of that title as compliment because I know how to enjoy and entertain myself. 😜

I am hardly friends with people who can't accept weirdness, but i am not judging them of that.
This video feels a little too simplistic, the definition of 'cringe' need to be more defined to really have a toughtful understanding of what is cringe and what to do about it. Here it's only defined as an emotion something people feel, a reaction to something, which is pretty large and vague. 'Cringe' actually englobes a variety of situations and the idea that we should embrace cringe as a whole seems dangerous and not founded. A passion for ballet or baroque music could be called cringe, yet they dont represent a problem for you or other people, they're just perceived as 'uncool' by some people, that's the 'cringe' you can embrace, and it won't do you bad. But having communication problems and not being able to read the room are also things that could be called cringe, those are things that can get you into difficult situations with other people and cause problem for you in the long run, embracing that 'cringe' won't do you any good, quite the opposite. You absolutly should learn to not be ashamed of the things you like (who cares if someone doesn't share your passion for ballet ?) but at the same time I think social interactions and those times you have been called cringe can make you learn, in our case i took the example of communication, so it can make you learn about how to communicate better or how to interact in different situations, and that doesn't mean forgetting who you are and entirely modifying your personality, it simply means to acknowledge the way you acted and the effect it had on other people and learn from it. It's really just a thought that should be thought on much longer, but I think it gives an interesting perspective to think on on the topic of 'cringe'. Cringe is a variety of things and it's complicated, you cannot say "just embrace all of it" or "reject all of it". The idea of it as a superpower is another question, i don't think so because of what i written before, but i think learning to accept parts of yourself and reflect on why you dislike those parts can do you a lot of good
This was so dang good Jake!! I appreciate so much how much you seem yourself on camera, that you’re just here to have fun, not front for likes. And how great that you found friends who are the same. There were so many things that I loved that I was too afraid to share with the world because it was “cringy” but at least I realize it now at 24
Jake thank you so much for putting this out there. I think most of us fall into cringe at some point, some of us stay there. Being part of your tribe is a powerful thing. Embrace!
I swear you guys could make a video about peeling a potato and it'd be so fun to watch. One of the best creators on RUclips. Looking forward to the podcast.
Thanks for the inspiration and I’ll check out your podcast
Man, I won't usually leave comments, but your videos are dope ! I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who can say that this particular video makes me feel better about myself :) Let's all embrace our weirdness together
Cringe is being vulnerable, and life doesn't matter if we are not vulnerable. Because it's our vulnerabilities that makes us bonds with others and experience strong emotions
Your videos are always amazing bro, much love from Zambia 🇿🇲
Don't ! Just forget the cringe and be a normal person
Thx you for this video, I really need to hear that. Found your video in the right moment in my life. I'm tired of being embarrassed and you're right we should embrace it. When I wanna start a new habits I shouldn't be shameful about not being the best it's totally normal and I forget it. You reminded me that yeah we all start somewhere.
Thx you so damn much ❤
