    I purchased one for $100 that was about 6 inches tall and within about 3 or 4 months it was over 9 feet tall. It was in memory of my husband that I planted in my yard but a storm tore it down ☹️

    I have 2.000 of these trees. They're really amazing.
    Some are more colorful then others, they need direct sun light on the bark. The ones planted too close from each other stay in the shade and do not "paint" so we'll. Anyway, it takes up to 5 years to start being colorful.

    I planted seeds (very tiny) from e-bay. Now have 9 healthy trees. Each about a meter tall less than 1 year old. They seem happy here in the direct sun of Arizona Sonoran Desert. Beautiful red & green leaves. No colored peeling bark yet. Can hardly wait.

    Has anyone had success regularly pruning the branches from young to make a very low very wide spreading canopy on this tree. I think it would look so cool with a low canopy and it would more likely survive and recover from hurricanes if it had a low canopy

    There is a Huge Rainbow Eucalyptus tree about 4 stories tall right next to my house. It was planted in the 8 feet area between the sidewalk and the street. I am in south Florida, I am worried that a hurricane might bring it down over my house. Should I be worried?

    • @TheRichNewnes

      The thing is the height of the tree. That;s what is so bad about it. If it falls in a storm it's going to affect a large area. I live in South Florida also, and these are about the tallest trees around. I think they are even taller than the Australian Pines and Norfolk Island Pines (all non-native species BTW).

    • @J.J.G991

      The chances of that happening are very small I hope, so llet's hope that never happends.😅 If the tree is healthy there is a chance it will survive a huricane. My aunt's home once got destroyed by a huricane, everthing was gone on her property, except the trees, only alot of branches broke. But the trees all survived and recovered. But those trees were no Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, i don't how strong those are.

    • @TheRichNewnes
      @TheRichNewnes 3 месяца назад

      @@J.J.G991 I live in South Florida and I've always heard that Palms and other native species such as Bald Cypress withstand hurricane force winds quite well while some others do not. Not sure if it's an adaptation, but I tend to think it has more to do with the structure of the tree. Palms and Cypresses have very little surface area compared to trees like Banyans and others and both Palms and Cypress are strongly rooted. Of course, I am not an expert on the matter. Just my opinion based on what I've seen and read over the years. Don't know how Rainbow Eucalyptus would fare in a storm.
