Plot is basically non existent while voice acting and animation is over the top to compensate for it, throwing in some nostalgia bait to remain relevant. New episodes are somehow more insufferable than the “dark age” of the show from seasons 6 to 8. This episode for instance is just a bunch of non sensical ADHD filler to grab the short attention span of kids.

When you put it that way, it makes more sense. Remember that the target demographic for SpongeBob are 6-9 year olds who may not get the Red Mist reference. The kids would probably be traumatised for months seeing Squid like that.

When i first saw this it scared the CRAP out of me. I was only 7 and had issues at the time so thats why It scared me so bad and probably 90% of it was the loud sound it made. i told my mom to contact Nickeloden to get the clip removed. (she didn't contact them) I'm now 11 and i'm now a huge fan of horror and stuff and (almost) beat the popular horror game DOORS (there are 100 doors in the game. i reached door 95 and a entity in the game called "Ambush" killed/jumpscared me.) that is known for its scary jumpscares and hard gameplay (it scared very old people compared to me like Flamingo and Ishowspeed but i am mostly unphased). Wish they didnt remove this. Hopefully they add more horror to spongebob, i'd love to see how much it would spook me after how much i've grown and how much i've gotten into basically any games with a horror genre (baldis basics, rainbow friends, doors, etc) and/or horror stories.

Even though I never like the new SpongeBob SquarePants season, one day me and my older brother were up at 11 pm watching nicktoons and decided to watch this EP although my brother was on his phone and I watch a bit and until when I saw the door scene and saw the Red Mist I got a bit jumpscared and shocked when I saw that and my brother said what did I miss and I explain to him everything I was surprised to see the Red Mist and watch it again I’m like where’s my red mist until I saw this I was sad to see it go forever will be missed red mist :(
