  • Egg in glass time lapse over the course of 131 days.
    This video shows you how quicker the eggs decompose if there are also insects involved. The first part of the experiment took only 38 days because the flies sped things up, meanwhile when I didn't let the flies to get to the egg the whole process took 131 days.

    I’d be curious to see what these would be like if it were contained in a vacuum chamber, one where the vacuum is maintained at a low pressure for the entire duration, meaning it automatically vacuums out again as tiny amounts of air slowly infiltrate in. Would there be anaerobic bacteria only that contributes to decomposition?

    • @gluuuuue
      @gluuuuue 2 года назад +7

      @@TarotVylan From what I understand, one of the engineering difficulties in constructing ultra high and extremely high vacuum chambers is that they're eventually affected by infiltration of gases with small molecules, eg. H2 and He2, because they're small enough to slowly migrate in between the molecules of glass, acrylic, or other transparent media used to make see-through vacuum chambers. So vacuums of that low an order of magnitude of pressure require chambers made of metal and very strong sealants (or even possibly things like vacuum chambers inside other lower quality vacuum chambers with the higher quality vacuum only having to deal with the differential pressure).
      But this means, with "ordinary" vacuum chambers made of acrylic, over a period of say 100 days, the vacuum might potentially degrade, perhaps slowly and barely perceptibly, but possibly at a rate that might still affect the experiment, so thus possibly requiring restarting the vacuum pump every X days in order to maintain as low an oxygen level as possible, that is, subject to the practical constraints of the quality of the equipment one has available.

      The worms are fly larvae, you'll see the trend of flies flocking then food then they lay the egg,when they hatch you'll see them feeding in the food

    Wait is the glass actually breaking in the second one? I honestly have a hard time seeing how that would happen but at the same time it looks just as if the glass was breaking.

      I think the egg white is drying clear and then cracking. It totally looks like the glass is breaking but that makes no sense.

      That's not the glass shattering, it's the egg drying out. Here you can see it in macro, I think it's really interesting, and prior my experiment I had no idea this is how it happens.
