I think one of the most devastating parts of the movie is when she said she doesn't need him. Every single song she wrote was for him and their relationship. He really was her muse and her inspiration. One of my favorite parts of the movie is how he took the fall and went to military prison for her instead of letting her go through a civil jail sentence. That shows pure love. There's so much better together and I love that they were able to find that love even though they were so different especially politically. I can't get enough of this movie Purple Hearts!
I finished watching this earlier today and I’m hooked! I don’t see that many marriage of convenience films being made (The Proposal is the only one that comes to mind) and when done right, they can be a hit. The chemistry between the actors was hot, the soundtrack amazing, the political undertones were handled quiet well, I love it, definitely going to rewatch
One small hitch was pretty good. I think it's still on Netflix. This guys father who is terminally ill says his only regret is that he'll never met the woman his son will marry. What follows is two friends agreeing to pretend to be engaged to make his father happy which seems simple at first but ends up with them actually living together for a few months while planning an actual wedding to keep up appearances
@@mellyq92 I might check that one out, it sounds interesting. I knew of The Proposal and I know there was one film released back in the 90’s called Green Card, that one was good as well.
@@scottibrown3274 I've never heard of that movie. Thanks for the recommendation. You also might like my fake fiance. Joey Lawrence plays a guy who gets engaged because he owes a lot of money to a loan shark and an equally cash strapped girl played my melissa Joan hart suggests they marry for the wedding gifts and split the money. It's not my favorite marriage of convenience movie but it definitely has its moments.
*I wrote a storyline for Purple Hearts 2* 💜😂😭 Let me know your thoughts! Netflix needs to make a Purple Hearts sequel where Sofia Carson and Nicholas Galitzine *BOTH* sing!!!😍 Seriously though…Nicholas Galitzine is an amazing singer and he deserves recognition!!! He even plays the guitar. Luke got dishonorably discharged from the Marines so he needs a job. He can become a singer and sing with Cassie. It can be like the male version of _A Star Is Born_ 🎵⭐️ *PLOT:* In the next movie, they can start with Luke’s character working in his dad’s auto repair shop. He’s happy to have a job but isn’t fulfilled. One day Cassie comes home and finds him singing and playing her guitar. “You sing? I didn’t know you could sing?” she asks, confused. Luke gets embarrassed but eventually confesses that he used to play guitar when he was younger before he started doing drugs and he would sing when he was alone and no one was around. Singing is a big deal for Luke because he has a hard time expressing his feelings. Cassie encourages him to sing and they start to write songs together. They duet and then take it on the road when Cassie is asked to open for _Florence + the Machine_ when they go on tour. Luke and Cassie can perform some alt. rock songs. Since Cassie had a beautiful, emotional soundtrack in the last movie, Luke can sing some powerful, fast tempo, high energy songs with electric guitar geared towards a male audience. Think: _Nirvana_ _Bush_ _The Goo Goo Dolls_ _Sonic Youth_ _Matchbox Twenty_ _Linkin Park_ _The Foo Fighters_ _The Red Hot Chili Peppers_ _Green Day_ _U2_ _Pearl Jam_ _Oasis_ _The Killers_ _Arcade Fire_ _Imagine Dragons_ _etc_ Luke and Cassie will perform together in huge arenas and it will be *EPIC!* The Hollywood Bowl was a great venue, but now Cassie’s a rising superstar so they need to perform for huge crowds. There can be one dramatic scene where Luke performs on stage for the first time and we see the excitement, nerves, and buildup leading up to that pivotal moment. He sings solo like Lady Gaga in _A Star is Born_ and he’s a hit! *They need to perform a hit song as beautiful as “Shallow”.* But also, Luke needs to have a killer rock solo! One critique I have of _Purple Hearts_ is that it glossed over Luke’s injury and recovery and the issues veterans face after coming home from war. They likely had a limited budget, but due to the success of _Purple Hearts_ 💜 they will have a much larger budget for a _Purple Hearts 2_ 💜 Netflix needs to keep its subscribers and they need more content since _Stranger Things_ is ending! _Purple Hearts 2_ could show Luke’s struggle with addiction as he rises to fame and deals with the pressure of performing live onstage (something he’s never done before), PTSD, and chronic pain leftover from his injury. The scene where Luke goes onstage for the first time can be drama-filled, because he relapses and secretly starts using right before he goes on. There’s a real question whether or not he will perform well or be a hot mess. Additionally, there weren’t a lot of action scenes of Luke in combat in Iraq. That could be expanded on in scenes where Luke has flashbacks from his PTSD. For example, we never saw the direct gore and aftermath from the IED explosion. We never saw how Frankie died… *These scenes need to be action-packed and need to do our Marines and our men and women in uniform justice!* This is where the bigger movie budget comes in. There needs to be gunfire, missiles, explosions, and whatever else is necessary to make these scenes look like a blockbuster-worthy hit. Think _Zero Dark Thirty_ , _American Sniper_ , _The Hurt Locker_ , etc. The Iraq scenes in _Purple Hearts_ were pretty boring; _Purple Hearts 2_ can make up for that. There’s a very real, believable reason why Luke starts using again and he has some unimaginable horrors in his past. Luke becomes a functioning addict as he rises to stardom, gains fame, and his singing career takes off. He signs with Cassie’s record label and records his first album. But as his life becomes more stressful, Luke uses more and more, and continually lies to Cassie until he hits rock bottom and overdoses. Throughout the film, Luke’s relationship with his dad will be tested. They can show flashbacks of their relationship in the past, and flashbacks of Luke’s mom dying of cancer and of Luke as an addict. (These scenes can be reminiscent of Zendaya in _Euphoria_ with her moving song about addiction, but instead it’s Luke singing the background soundtrack.) Towards the end of the movie, Luke finally goes to rehab and he and his father make up once he’s clean and sober. But their father/son relationship should be explored more and movies like _Walk the Line_ and _Ray_ that show the drama of complicated father/son relationships where the son is abusing drugs can be used as inspiration. *As for Luke and Cassie’s relationship:* they grow closer and fall more in love throughout the movie. Obviously we need a few steamy, sensual love scenes mixed in! Luke adores Cassie and loves her because she’s given him a music career. Apart from Luke’s hidden addiction, Luke and Cassie are on cloud nine. In the middle of the movie, Cassie finds out that she’s pregnant. But before she can tell Luke, she finally discovers he’s relapsed. Luke begs Cassie to forgive him and reluctantly agrees to go to rehab. In the scenes where he’s in rehab and in group therapy, Luke reveals his motivation for getting sober is his unborn baby (he doesn’t know the baby’s gender) and Cassie. Luke has also been using due to the chronic pain in his leg. After going through dramatic withdrawals, he has to learn pain management and how to cope with the pain in his leg. Time goes by and after some soul searching, Luke finally gets clean and starts running again in his free time at the rehab facility. Cassie’s drama will be about becoming a global superstar, dancing and filming music videos (a perfect excuse to see Sofia Carson dancing a little), and having to go through her pregnancy alone while Luke is in rehab. Cassie ends up having to hide her pregnancy because she’s in the midst of the big break she’s been working towards her whole life. She feels pressure from everyone around her and doesn’t want to let anyone down. When she gains her baby weight and starts showing, she’s pressured by her management to lose weight and get thinner (they have no idea she’s pregnant). There can also be scenes where she’s dealing with her diabetes and it’s unclear if she’s taking care of her body and receiving the proper vitamins and nutrition needed for her growing baby. Additionally, Cassie’s conflicted because she’s scared of becoming a mother and having a family. She wonders if she will be a good mother. They can show flashbacks of her family illegally immigrating and also her mother and father fighting and her dad leaving when Cassie is a little kid. The movie ends with Cassie being rushed to the hospital with some life-threatening complication like preeclampsia from gestational diabetes, and Luke running to the delivery room to be by her side (Metaphorically or literally running? Lol a cheesy idea, I know.) Miraculously, Cassie safely delivers the baby and Luke and Cassie rejoice. Luke and Cassie get to hold their baby for the first time, and Luke promises Cassie that he will stay clean and will be the best father and husband to her that he can be. *The final scene* can be of Luke, Cassie, and the baby enjoying time together as a family as a heartfelt, emotional love song by Luke and Cassie plays in the background. Luke and Cassie are BBQing with Luke’s family and Cassie’s mom, and they finally introduce their baby to Peaches. 🐶🍑❤️😭 Purple Hearts 2 isn’t a money grab!!! It’s a great story to tell.
