- The "last breath of Norther" was took at Brutal Assault Festival 2012 on 10.8.2012 as after long consideration the band decided to quit.
"During the last year it has become clear that we are not able to tour or do shows as much as we would want to, this being due to members´ complicated and time consuming life situations. We have been forced to find session members and turn down too many gig offers. We simply cannot act as an active and working band and it is clear that these issues are not solved in the future. This is everything but an easy decision for all of us, but all this have taken the band to the point that pulling the plug is the right thing to do. There is no drama, this is a mutual decision and we all remain as good friends. The last show of Norther will be on the 10th of August at Brutal Assault Festival 2012 (CZ)."
This is original HD preview with merged audio, that was streamed at the festival big screens. We apologize the poor sound quality, but this is the best we have.
"Norther would like to thank especially our FANS, friends and partners for their support for the past 12 years. Also great hails goes to Tomi Luoma, our ex-members Toni Hallio and Petri Lindroos, and producer Anssi Kippo for their contribution. i've discovered norther just this evening and found out it exists no more and this was their last gig. damn feels.
Norther was truly a supergroup: so many musicians who are now in widely known metal bands such as Wintersun, Finntroll, COB, Machinae Supremacy and Ensiferum, just to mention a few. A great show!
And Imperanon before that!

They killed this band! Murdered it! . Thank god Wintersun adopted their drummer at least. Petri lives on with Ensiferum but the sounds of old Norther will never be again..

I don't get you guys saying that this isn't Norther. I mean, yeah, the only original member that was still playing in the band when this was recorded was Tuomas, but that does't mean that this wasn't the same awesome band that it was before. In fact, I believe that this lineup (at least the one with Kristian instead of the guy playing here) actually managed to make Norther's best and most dynamic album ever (yes, I'm talking about Circle Regenerated). However, I also believe that it was the fans' fault that the guys took the decision of calling it quits because of their huge intolerance and disrespect. Of course I'm not talking about all of Norther's fans, but about those so-called "die hard fans" who only criticized and bashed the guys when their last record came out and weren't able to accept the lineup changes just because Petri wasn't there. It really makes me sad and sick to see that even after two years from the band's breakup there's still people posting hateful comments on their videos saying things like "this isn't Norther" or "It's not the same without Petri. Aleksi sucks". It really saddens me to see that some people can't recognize Aleksi and Daniel's effort and they don't really see that they did their best to make a good album.
All I can say is I loved every single album made by Norther and never actually cared about the lineup. But in the end, I guess that doesn't matter since the band is gone now and they don't seem to be planning a reunion anytime soon. Despite the horrible quality and the altered lineup, this video always brings tears to my eyes. It's like watching the death of someone you once admired but ended up being hated by everyone... They deserved a lot more than this. This was Norther and will always be. Kristian, Tuomas, Heikki, Petri, Aleksi, Jukka, Daniel, Toni (and some other guys who left the band before becoming big) will always be part of NORTHER.
I see one of the best bands I've had the opportunity to hear, sad to give Their last show but still giving one hundred percent of enthusiasm for public, With any line-up, Norther was amazing.
A few days ago I found a new band called Crownshift and it brought me a little of this sound, just sayin in case anyone is interested 😅 this and COB were my favorite melodeath bands... Now they're both gone. And I know there's still great bands out there, but these two were so special and awesome. 😢
This band, being one of the best melodeath groups ever, should´ve disbanded immediately after Petri was kicked out. It was fairly obvious they would not come up with anything worthy with Shivonen. Lindros was a great shredder, vocalist and lyricist, but his inspiration was at an end already with the album N. Let´s keep in our memory the fantastic times back then, and not be pissed off by this faux pass...

It was sad to hear that Norher did split up .. I have been fan ever since I heard the first time this band, and saw it live (@ Palatsi Turku ... ).
Luckily I saw Norher @ klubi, where there was only a few people.. Dunno if the masses did not even know that Norther existed anymore. And the last gig I saw from Norther was at some poor free finnish festival at some hillbilly land.
There isn't any other band that makes this kinda music better than Norther .

Aleksi isn't bad live. But what happened in Circle of Regenerated? His guttural vocal sounds too "artificial"

For the most part I agree, Til Death and N rock, despite what naysayer's outcry. I'll be honest, I hated Breaking Myself Away when it came out, releasing that as the first (well, I guess only) single for Circle Regenerated was the worst decision they made after forcing Petri out. I think they should have led with Some Day, which is the brightest spot on that album IMO. That, Falling, and The Last Night sound like cuts that could have been off N, there needed to be a bit more of that on Circle.

The guitar that Daniel Freyberg is using in this video is one of Alexi Laiho's not stolen Jackson ones. Rumor has it that Alexi actually sold it to Daniel.

I never thought I would ever be happy to learn that one of my favorite bands of all time had disbanded, but in this case I was. I still can't believe they pulled an Ensiferum with Petri (how ironic is that comparison?), they honestly didn't even need Aleksi, Freyberg could have filled the gap on his own though I guess that would have just made Norther into Naildown Pt 2. And where the hell is Kride in all this mess? I still don't understand his excuses for not doing those last tours.
@ 14:00 Couldn't they just repeat the verse again since it was so obvious he forgot the lyrics the first time? Seems like he was ready to to continue the lyrics when instead that (supposed to be) one of the most brilliant parts in MDM-history kicked in=/

Nah I loved N and Til Death! Everything single songs on both albums I can listen to and not be bored, Circle's only good songs were, Falling, Breaking Myself away, Closing In and that's all. The rest to me I dont like or sound like filler songs, Oh and the Kride song was pretty good

The guitarist filling in for Kristian is really good. Aleksi is awful though. So many mistakes.

At least they only released one album without Petri. Although I have to say Circle Regenerated has caught on to me, other than the vocals I'd say the album is better musically than both N and Till Death Unites Us.
How can this even be titled 'Norther' ....... it may as well have just been a tribute band. ridiculous. Thank god the new guys can't shit over the history of Norther anymore. ...... this should show them a lot of lessons though. WORST DECISION: Kicking out Petri, that will obviously never be lived down. BEST DECISION: SPLITTING UP!!!!
