If you have a Lt craftsmen it is best to remove the deck gas tank and battery and what the battery sits on it gives you more hand room Your mowers easier to work on than mine yours is alot similar to my John deere L110
Enjoyed your video. I also have a 2007 LT4200 that I purchased new and that I keep on my remote river lot. I've been mowing/wrestling with it for 6 weeks. I finally took a trailer up to bring it back to my garage. I haven't seen anyone replace the corresponding "Steering Gear Assembly" and I'm hoping mine survived as well. I bought the Hex Flaring Washer locally, but saw that wear on the steering gear. I'm going to order the shaft only and see if that'll fix it. (I haven't started the disassembly yet, but I liked the one comment on here about replacing the Phillips screw with a bolt.) 500 ft lbs ROCKS!! PS: I have lots of videos on here of me singing and poorly playing guitar. lol
Took me longer (because I forgot the top washer 2x!) but my wife and I got it done! Saved me some cash because we thought we were going to need a new mower. Right on!
I replace my shaft last summer and it’s already stripped and it ruined the other gear as well all because I didn’t replace the flange. I ordered these parts online and have to fix it this weekend. Can’t wait for my new zero turn Santa might bring me. Lol
I jacked the front end up to do the aligning and greasing the steering components. the tire on the right without the tierod is held on with a "compression nut"? Mine popped loose and the whole rim and tire fell off. Anyone know a part number or what that thing is actually called? It's like a snap ring inside a plastic hub cap..
When I tighten the Phillips screw on the bottom the steering becomes too tight to turn the wheel. But when I loosen up on the screw it turns the wheel but the screw becomes very loose and I can turn it by hand. What could the issue be?
I have purchased 2 shafts from different outfits and neither one seems to be exactly right. The short side of the shaft that should slide into the bearing flange is too thick. In other words the bearing flange will not slide onto the short side of the shaft. This prevents proper alignment of the teeth cause the shaft will not seat down into the frame. Ive used the same numbers you posted and bought from 2 different places. Both were like this. Where did you get yours from?
Also I would be curious if you have any other videos regarding this exact riding lawnmower? Or if anybody else reading this for that matter. TY. I like keeping my old going.
Hi Joshua. I have several with this mower. If you have trouble finding them on the current channel, perhaps you can see them at Fix It or Kic It channel. I will be putting out a blade change video soon, Thanks.
My mover turns to the right great...but turning left it will only go about 10%...any idea what is causing this? Mover is 2 years old.any help is appreciated
Hi Howard. I can guess several things. Pinon on steering shaft, gear down below that the steering shaft engages with, Steering wheel spines good and wheel tight, bearing flang, bad ball joint. all these doable jobs. Thanks for asking.
Did you figure out the problem? We've been through at least four steering shafts in the last few months. All completely strip. Wheel and tires turns right but the wheels won't turn left(steering wheel will full circle left, tires won't turn with it) When turning the wheel turning to the right the shaft and gear turn together well, but when turning to the left the shaft and gear teeth separate. My husband did try to bend a washer into the shape of the screw cap to replace a missing one that goes on the bottom of the steering shaft. I don't know if a bad cap would throw off the steering? It's a good running mower, I'd hate to get rid of it due to a steering problem. I just wish we could figure out how to fix it right and be done fixing it.
Where the bolt connects the drag arm to the gear is the drag arm has too much play. The drag arm is slipping under the plate a half centimeter..wonder if that could be causing problems
I fixed one but I just pulled engine, it’s faster and also replaced sump gasket and seal
Great video, enjoy watching and now I can do my mower repair!
I would replace the screw with a bolt
HI Mike. That's a great recommendation. Thanks
The part # for the screw would be helpful also.
TY.

Hi King Phil. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck on your channel, and yes the hex head bolt is a great idea.
You should have removed the gas tank for more room and easier to work

Hi Christopher. Great. Happy mowing.

Hi Seth. It shouldn't be a rough job since you got into it last year. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching.
TY for the video. Was just what I needed. Great sound effects too! Just my style lol.
Glad you liked it!
My hex flange bearing keeps jumping out of the hole. What can I do to make it stay down or is it something wrong?
Big washer missing on underside of deck?

Loved the video. I had to grind my bottom washer nut off, could not get it to budge at all. So paid $10.00 for new ones. Was stripped screw

Very repetitive. Use a Bolt instead of Phillips for fastener.
