I absolutely LOVE learning about torture devices and other things such as wars and awful events like the Holocaust. Don’t get me wrong, I think that they were all awful and non of these terrible things should’ve happened, but I don’t know, I just love learning about stuff like this🤷♀️
For some it helps remind us how good we've got it, so far. Our lives are better than the medieval times. That may not be your reasons, but you can use it if you ever need to explain yourself, or you could plead the 5th.✌😎
I used to go to st Augustine often but there was a period of time i hadnt been for a bit. This museum had come during that time. A friend had told me about it when wed gone there and i was blown away. It was so much more than i could have imagined. The ambiance in there is next level. Definitely on the darker side of things, but so fascinating.
Torture freaks me out. I think the bronze bull is horrifying. The mouth of the bull is open so that the screams of the victim could be heard. The Spanish donkey is bad too yikes. The pendulum is awesome. That was my first ever Poe story. Always been fascinated with Iron Maiden’s *shudder* The people that invented these tortures are sick and twisted and the people that would carry them out are even worse whether a person was guilty or innocent it’s just horrifying That museum is freaky af but wow the did a great job at the displays.
The mouth of the Bronze bill wasn’t opened there was holes in the nose where the smoke would come out and the screams of the person inside would be heard as if the bull was snorting and such.
@@franklinnose u say that but it did nothing to stop them then.. People will always risk themselves thru depravity and needfullness. To stop social ills we need to be a more sharing society and close the money gap.
That wall of skulls is astounding! I have visited a couple of these medieval torture museums, and wow, the instruments of torture used on people I remember the Saw (not the movie) where the person was hung upside down alive, legs spread, and a person on each end would hold the long saw and saw the person right down the middle between the legs. The purpose of the person being hung upside down as well is because the person's blood would rush to their head, thus, keeping them alive for a longer period and experiencing the torture. Then there's the thumbscrews, the burning bed, etc......as mentioned, this is like the movie Saw and Hellraiser combined into real life events...truly hell on earth for the victims Surprisingly, Jessica seemed to look very comfortable in the torture chair...the chair of nails, like the dark queen on her throne. It seemed to suit her perfectly Happy Halloween🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Me: Wow, this is so dark and inhumane. What was even going on in the Medieval times?? Michael (5:18): But wow it kind of looks like a weird S&M Yoda, doesn't it? lol thanks I needed that lighthearted comment.
Aaahh!!😫😫😫 horrible.... I am shivering.... Specially, the 'Spanish donkey' is something I can never even imagine....😩😫 And, those people who went through this!😱
I visited the Tower of London a few years ago and got to see torture chambers including Bloody Tower plus devices used to torture. I’m not sure if the devices were authentic but it was creepy knowing people were tortured and executed there. I know you two want to visit sites overseas, I highly recommend the Tower of London.
Something i found interesting... my friend that took me that first time had said the particular room with the chastity belts and such made her feel ill. She tends to get very spooked by anything of a supernatural nature. But odder yet is without knowing anything about what my friend had said my daughter mentioned feeling badly in that same room😮
Mr. Grimms kink comes to the fore on a few occasions.... Jessica keep a close eye on him next time u apple bobbin.. Check for ropes around the barrel else he'll be wanting to see those body contours... Oooh er.. Lol (just in case u forgot 2yrs on, the witch being dunked in barrel of water Mr. Grimm takes a liking to calling it beautiful and its the way the body is doubled showing its contours haha)
I remember something like this coming to the Museum of Modern Man in Balboa Park - San Diego in the mid 2000s I think, and it absolutely made my stomach turn just how many of these devices were made specifically punish and torture women. There would be the occasional device with the plaque reading that "sometimes" on rare occasions men would be tortured with them, but it was overwhelmingly to shame women and sometimes even kill them depending on how horrendous the torture was, and it was a widely accepted thing. And now in the current age we have groups of people wanting to force women into giving birth or to have them imprisoned for getting an abortion, while subjecting the ones that don't fit into outdated gender roles to "conversion therapy" involving electroshock when they're not gleefully attacking and murdering them... so, y'know, the more things change the more they stay the same.
Thank god we were not born on that period... That bull thing is really creepy and just thinking how people were burnt I got goosebumps 😱😨. Oh wait or we were there and we just got reborn .😂
I mean if they're using it to interrogate you, you won't be giving up information without a little torture. And even if you do give information, what's to stop them? They were literally letting rats eat people's insides, burning people alive, and skinning them for the smallest infractions. Moreover, if you didn't have information, how were you supposed to tell them what you don't know - unless they tortured you enough to lie about it. Those were the times sadly.
It's called the brazing bull The prisoner would be put inside the bull fire would be lit below the bull as a prisoner goes towards the spouse that comes from the mouth of the bull he would be screaming and it would sound like a bull but people didn't know they was actually a prisoner inside of this device being slowly barbecued and the man that invented the brazing bull was the first one to be put in the braising bull
That was awesome, I loved it, man, the way they tortured people back then, in the mid-evil times, centuries ago, an excruciating painful death, I bet, hell to the no 😱☠️🗡️🛡️⚰️
I’m confused, the girl told him he was on angel on the scale and he proceeds to say in a creepy voice “I’m coming for you” ? Is this guy all there or no?
Him calling it art & beautiful was the most amerikkkan thing I’ve heard. Also, the museum should use indigenous & African lifelike dolls to give it real feels, because we all know...

HorrorQueen It's SUPPOSED to freak you out! However, I guarantee if they brought that shit back we wouldn't have the many social ills we have now!
The only torture that should have existed was just mental torture. Also are the creators sure that THEY aren't the psychopaths?

We still have the Gibbet - a guilloteene , here in Halifax , west Yorks , UK. Blade has been long removed, but the wooden stucture still stands.

Sometimes the best things are well hidden. I'm not sure how old the museum is in relation to when you lived there though.

It's not a torture chair it's what they use for interrogation it's not used to kill you it's used for you to confess and give out information
