Thanks for your feedback Maurizio!!! I definitely will follow your advice with Loctite and different screws. Thoroughly regret investing in these poorly designed Audeze headphones.
I can relate Richard. I was constantly tightening the screw on the yoke rod for the right side pad on my LCD-X headphones which lifts away from my rt ear.. I ordered a set replacement yoke rods from Audeze ($90 Canadian with shipping) which did not rectify the issue. I regret ever purchasing this item!
I had the same problem with my X and solved it completely by using the torx screws from an old sata harddrive. It also looks way way cleaner than the cheap looking stock screws at this pricepoint (wtf Audeze?). Be carefull matching the pitch threat with the stock screws (I believe it’s M2,5 but not the regular 0,75 pitch). Also used some automotive Locktite 243 to secure the screws. Never had a problem since.
I have the same problem with the leather strap the front fell off. I just remove it so it wouldn't dangle around my head. If you can tell me how long you had this headphone for?
omg your video safe me from poorly design of the Audeze sad too see expensive headphone have so much problem ilm live in thailand and temp in summer is 40-44c im sure the glue gonna cause me problem and the shipment cost to buy a new pad are 100usd+80 usd for earpad😢
I had in the past LCD2c but they never failed my like yours X. For me anyway the best american headphones are made by Zach in ZMF thats quality of build and sound.
3:01 Oh man what a mess, i'm surprised they didn't use magnets or Velcro for this like other manufacturers successfully have. I have a pair of much cheaper planar headphones that have Velcro as the earpad attachments and that works great so i don't see why Audeze can't do it with these much more expensive headphones. Why not just replace the 3M tape ring with a Velcro ring Audeze?
My LCD-2 and LCD-X have both had the earpads fall off. I've seen the Audeze "goop" several times, it's nasty to have to remove it. And the 3M tape rings that they will send to you for FREE if you complain enough, don't hold the pads on for more than a couple of weeks. It's a lousy system of mounting. PERIOD. As for the strap I haven't had an issue but mine have both stretched to the point they just ride along the underside of the metal. It doesn't bother me but it's hardly much of a suspension system. On top of these issues I've had to replace a driver in the LCD-2 under warranty, though I had to pay for the shipping from Chicago to California, about $45, and I had to do the same for my EL-8 which also blew a driver. What was I thinking when I ordered the MM100? LOL
that could be possible, but they didn't send out any notification to owners of the 2020 edition like myself, and when you're paying this much for headphones I would expect them to have said something.
@@RichardCollette Sorry to hear that you were so poorly treated. My 2021s seem to be fine, so I'm hoping they did change the glue but I guess I can only wait and see. Maybe they even ship with the 3M rings already built in now instead of that glue. Did this change in the glue happen suddenly after 3 years or did you notice it leaking sooner? I find the headband perfectly comfortable all day, but I don't think anything has changed in that aspect* so I guess it's just luck of the draw about our head sizes and shapes (which, again, it shouldn't be!). * [edited to add] Then again, the headband is not sharp at all, so I guess they did change the headband in at least some aspect.
@@joechapman8208 Hard to say when the glue did start oozing. It seemed sudden when the issue appeared but could have been degrading over time all along. Wasn't due to heat, outside of what my head produces, for sure though.
So they fixed it with a different glue or fixed it with a new mounting structure and not glue? Coz if it's still glue I would just pretty stay away from it as far as I can.
Glad i found this. I was getting ready to pick up the LCD X old versions. I will just pick up the Neumann NDH 30s. I had the closed back version NDH 20s. They are Build like a Tank.. Thanks for posting this Saved me some cash and the Neumanns prob sound just a good for what i need.
I have had LCDX 2021 for 2 years and today I received Neumann NDH30 I have to say that the LCDX are better in all sound departments. But I think the NDH30 are the best for their price.
I have owned six different sets of Audeze LCD headphones (X, 2, 3, 2C XCx2) and I have never had any of these issues. With the screw(s) coming loose just put Loctite on them. That is what Audeze uses, this set just maybe didn't have enough. Now, you should not have to do that, but that is the very easy fix. As far as replacing the pads, you have to make sure you get all of the old adhesive off before you apply the new adhesive. Then it will stay on for years.
WTF is it with shitty build quality with “higher end “ headphones 🤷🏻♂️ At least with Meze , they have decent performance BUT they’re built far above their price point. Great eye opening video. Thanks ☕️👍🔥🍕
This is the problem with all of my American products including my car. At first they are amazing but the build quality is atrocious. Kind of ironic that things made in China last longer these days…

Originally purchased in Nov or Dec of 2020 and replaced the leather head strap in December 2021. So the head strap is a little over a year old.
Hey Rich, do you recommend these headphones today? Thanks.
I dont. For the price it shouldn't fall apart in a year

ZMF are great but I've had issues with 3 out of 4 of my ZMF models so I don't think any manufacturer is void of any issues like this.
Which amp would you recommend for audeze lcd x to use with apollo twin x sound card?
I use the Schitt Jotunheim and I'm very happy with it. That apollo thing is beyond what I need.
@RichardCollette thanks a lot for reply, what u think about spl phonitor 2?

Double sided tape doesn't just turn to gunk... Did you happen to have it in a very very warm room? or in the sun light?
No I have AC and it never gets above 78 degrees. My head is warmer than the room.

Wasn't this already solved by the 2021 edition?
I have read a few times they had production issues and it should be gone now

@@abletonflow4673 cool. Thank for dropping a post. I need to give them a try sometime. Be safe
This shouldn’t happen to headphones up in this category. It’s a build flaw and they should look into this
What the hell the pads are just glued on lol
This is standard audeze
It's better for the sound
Wow and I was supposed to get the LCD-XC.. not anymore.

This has happened a lot with this company, and they don't like providing support as well in many cases. It is why I will never buy from them~
