My 2008 doesn't have anything in the way of the pcv valve. I can see it and reach it easily. Mine is a 3.8L and very easy to get to. The bolt and vicegrip is a great idea!
The PCV valve is very difficult to fully seat. The flat of the top of the valve and new rubber seal needs to be a little more than 1/8 recessed to engage groove. Or, you will find the valve sucked up into the hose...like I did . Hammering does not work. Pressure and wiggling into place works.
@misticwrld8340 I'm having trouble getting mine to go in and I'm afraid to push too hard because I don't want to break it. If the video maker didn't have the music on it and I could hear it, I might be able to tell what kind of socket size was used. Should I put a little oil on it to help it in?
I was trying to track down a rough idle issue and figured I'd hit all of the easy stuff first. I was worried it was a transmission issue, and it looks like that is what the problem was.
@@haroldestevez4803 If you can access the PCV valve with everything on, and remove it with the grommet intact, by all means do that. I found that to get the job done right without much struggle, it was easier to remove everything. I had much more room to work, plus I was able to get leverage to pull the valve out. It is not very accessible otherwise.
Correct...except to make it easier to access. My hands did not fit back there, and it was easier to just remove the upper plenum than to struggle with getting the tools in place.

Useful tip!!

What size bolt did you use to jam into it and pry out??
Honestly I don’t remember. I know once I put the bolt in I clamped down with some vice grips and used them for leverage.

Hey thanks a lot for replying.
@@JW52654 no problem. Hope it helps a bit.
Of course they have to put it on the back of the engine. How did you know the PCV valve was faulty?

@@serenitygarage7461 The PCV valve should be replaced every 20K miles
You really didn't have to go through all of that just to remove the PCV, but to each it's own.
Thanks for sharing 👍👏🏻

Did this fix the rough idle issue?
for a bit, but I believe the transmission was the real issue. We recently traded the van in though.
Wait what? Why did you remove everything. The PCV valve can be accessed from the top, you only need to remove the PCV hose and then the valve.
I removed everything to make accessing the PCV valve easier.
But the PCV valve is already exposed, once you remove the hose the valve is already there.

U most def only have to remove the pcv valve hose and pcv valve This was a lot of unnecessary work

Zero reason to remove the upper manifold and everything else you removed for the PCV removal.. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
