The person doing the harmonica sound is Adam Rupp. He is generally called a beatboxer, but Adam is really more than that. He is a vocal percussionist, and some call him a human drum kit.. He considered probably the finest in the world at his craft. He also does the harmonica sound in their cover of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues. The bass singer is Tim Foust and he has a 5 octave range. They are known as the only country A Capella vocal band, by the also do R&B, pop, gospel, and Christian music as well. They are approaching 200 videos with a third of a billion RUclips views. The band started 20 years. They won the 4th season of the Sing Off, the year after Pentatonix won their season. They are known to have the richest harmonies of any band now or before them. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. Their talent as a group is unsurpassed, although PTX, VoicePlay, and Voctave are excellent groups too.

I absolutely love when male reactors are still reeling from disbelief of Adam's no harmonica perfection and here comes Tim's voice strutting in. They automatically straighten up and get a still look on their face for a few seconds. Thank you for being observant and notice Tim's drop in the next line.

Or "Brothers in Arms" or, well, you get the idea. They have collaborated with many stars including Don McLean (American Pie), Oakridge Boys (Elvira among others), Alabama, etc. Per Anne Passarelli save Mayday until you actually know the guys by name. They do both covers and original music. Allowing for the season they have done a lot of Christmas music too (again, including originals) but you'll appreciate their cover of "Do You Hear What I Hear" and a more current cover of "Mary Did You Know" (among others). If you're a person of faith "How Great Thou Art" among others are pretty profound. Enjoy and take care.

That's the sound of a jaw harp in the beginning and end. It is a staple of early American folk from the Appalachians. This song is around 100 yrs old at this point, so the jaw harp fits perfectly.

Adam, the beat boxer, holds 2 World Championships in beat boxing! Each member is as good as another. They do not have a lead singer. Whatever the song calls for is who leads. The remainder of the group is Austin, lead in this songand a spectacular high tenor, Robb, tenor who is wonderful also, and last but not least, Adam Chance, who sings baritone. You must jump down the rabbit hole and explore this phenomenol group! I BELIEVE THEY ARE THE BEST ACAPELLO GROUP OUT THERE! They also won the show "THE SING OFF" several years back! I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked & became a homefry. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. Tim Foust is the best bass singer in the business. I am so glad you heard the bass drop even lower after Tim's solo. So many reactors miss that. Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. They lean towards country but can sing any genre. They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

Welcome to Home Free. I discovered them during the pandemic and fell in love. They are amazingly talented. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix won. Their beatboxer is amazing and does drums, harmonica and all number of sounds. Try Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015). He’s incredible. They all take the lead depending on the song. They sing country but sing all genres of music. Just so you know, the movie made this song popular but it’s over 100 years old and has been covered many times. Try Helplessly Hoping, Mary Did You Know, In the Blood, What We Ain’t Got to hear great harmonies. They have a lot of Christmas songs too…some serious and a lot of funny ones. The sound in the beginning and end was a jaw harp...done by Chance, the fellow in the straw hat in back. When they perform it live, he sings a bit and then loops it for the rest of the song because he says it hurts his voice if he does it too much. And the bass man has a 5-octave range. Check out his "Snow Globe". Or "Mayday". AFTER you hear Folsom Prison Blues.

The song was published in 1918 and first recorded in the 1920's. Adam Rupp does the harmonica and is a world class beatboxer. The didggery-doo is actually what is called a jews harp or a mouth harp. Adam Chance {Usually just called Chance}, the other guy in the back is a baritone and is the one making the jews harp sound. He sings lead in Folsom Prison Blues. Austin, the higher, sharper tenor, sings lead in When a Man Loves a Woman. Rob, the second, softer, tenor, takes lead in End of the Road. Tim Foust, the bass, has a five octave range. His range is best shown off in a clip from The Sing Off with them doing Ring of Fire. In my opinion it better than the one with Avi Kaplan. To see how low Tim can go, watch Peter Hollins featuring Tim Foust singing Misty Mountains. I am what we call a HomeFry, a real fan of Home Free. Okay Harrison, you just tumbled into the HF Rabbit Hole! You're in for one excellent journey. I only discovered this band in April and in my 8 decades I have never been this impressed with any artist, except perhaps Elvis and there were some of his songs I was not a fan. Home Free has become a habit from the first time I saw the Man Of Constant Sorrow video. You asked for recommendations... for their fantastic harmonies How Great Thou Art, a great cover of Boyz2Men End of the Road. For fun, Butts Medley can't be topped. There's a live performance of Your Man (Home Free Morrison IL that really shows off Tim's bass. One of my faves is Mayday, but you'll want to do several pieces so you are familiar with the guys and then check out the video (not the live performance). They recently released a new one of When a Man Loves a Woman where Austin (high tenor) does the lead. This is probably more than you anticipated, but it's typical of some of us Home Fries (Hf fans) that we just can't stop with a couple songs! You can't go wrong because they just keep getting better. Just subbed and looking forward to seeing more of your reactions to Home Free.

Love your reaction to the amazing Home Free. I have been to 7 of their concerts and not only did I see the beatboxer do the harmonica sound but another one of them joined in and they did a no harmonica harmonica duet. It was amazing. You have just found a huge rabbit hole. Enjoy.

These guys are great. This is one from the last few years with Adam Chance as the baritone/co-bass. You will see a lot of their older videos with founding member Chris Rupp (brother of the beatboxer Adam Rupp). In addition to being phenomenally talented, these guys are hilarious 😂 Check out their "Butts Remix/Medley" or "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget".

New subscriber & loved your reaction! These guys are the best of the best! If you want to get a few Christmas videos in before Christmas, start with "O Holy Night" or "Do You Hear What I Hear", but don't be confused because the guy in the cowboy hat in O Holy night & the cap in Do You Hear What I Hear is the co-founder of Home Free, Chris Rupp, with his brother, Adam Rupp, the "percussionist extraordinaire", but Chris left in 2016 for a solo career & chose Adam Chance, that they just call Chance to avoid confusion of having 2 Adams, to replace him. Chance was the one leaning on the porch post making the "jaw harp" sound! They've released 4 new videos in about 12 days! "Mary, Did You Know" is my favorite! Even their goofy, fun songs are amazing! Welcome to the "Home Fry" family!

We are the Home Fries...rabid Home Free fans. Try Ring of Fire(also with Avi from Pentatonix), Folsom Prison Blues, When a Man Loves a Woman, and End of the Road. The beat boxer, Adam Rupp, has 2 or 3 world championships. These guys will also keep you laughing...try Grandma got Run Over By a Reindeer, Guilty Pleasures derailed, or Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. Heck, try them all, Home Fries will come listen. I believe it is Adam Chance that was the digeridoo in this song. Please fans correct me if I'm wrong.

These guys are known for their harmonies, a super bass that can sing 5 octaves into tenor range, and a human drumkit of a beatboxer. They are amazingly talented and these acapella groups have to have great vocals right? Because they can't hide them behind instrumentation, they are their own instruments.

Yes, that dude was going deeper. Adam Chance is a bass who is mostly used as a baritone in Home Free. He can also sing tenor on "Helplessly Hoping", and so can Tim Foust on "Mayday". Beatboxer Adam Rupp also has a good voice singing the line "It is well with my soul" on "How Great Thou Art"

Welcome to wonderland, Alice. I must correct you, this song was not made for the movie, it's a classic folk song that somebody finally wrote down and copyrighted mid 20th century.
Home Free has done a lot of great covers, many I consider better than the originals. But whatever anyone says, avoid watching Mayday until you have a good handle on the group and can anticipate their voice from their image. If you watch Mayday too soon you will not be as impressed as you should be. A good selection of all the boys singing lead sections (including the beatboxer) can be had with Auld Lang Syne, How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, Some Girls Do, and Die a Happy Man.
For a heck of a lot of fun watch The Butts Remix, Champagne Taste (an original), or All About the Bass (but watch Trainor's original first for maximum enjoyment).

If you were impressed by Adam Rupp’s “harmonica,” be aware that this was some time ago and he continues to come up with new skills, like the “castanets” in the last song of their Sea Shanty Medley. He even had a rifle cocking sound inFolsom Prison Blues. He also sings tenor as needed.

You have not entered a rabbit hole, it is more like a squirrel nest full of nuts! These are some crazy fun guys. You can’t go wrong and they too have personal channels to listen to. If you listen to their Sea Shanty Medley, you will hear Adam Rupp doing castanets among other things. They have covers as well as their own songs.Just dive in, wait a bit for one of my favorites, Mayday. Home Fries will let you know when you are ready for that one. Christmas a week away, you may want to hit some of their Christmas songs.

There's only one mistake you can make with Home Free -- listening to "Mayday" too soon. You don't get maximum enjoyment from this great performance until you know all the guys and their voices. For most reactors, that's at least 6 reactions to other HF performances. You've already had a good introduction to Austin Brown (high tenor), Rob Lundquist (tenor), and Tim Foust (basso profondo.) Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, rarely sings. That leaves Adam Chance (who goes by his last name to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp.) In order to get a good sample of Chance's voice, try "Some Girls Do", "Cover Me Up", "The Gambler", or "American Pie." Welcome to the Home Fries!

New sub. Great reaction! I love it when people discover Home Free. Home Free is crazy talented, yet down-to-earth. They take their craft seriously but can cut up and be silly at the same time. Check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, I Swear, and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! We home fries are a loyal bunch.

See Hard to Handle, Madness, and Uptown Funk); also see Citizen Queen (formed by Scott Hoying and Ben Bram of Pentatonix; see Killing Me Softly, Never Enough, and Y (original).
