Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers! :) I hope you all enjoy your day and the rest of the weekend! :) Let me know in the comments if you have ever tried the MHM and/or what your thoughts are on it! Take care for now!
you all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Andrew Karsyn Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
My hair is low porosity and about two years ago I maintained a constant routine that made my colored treated hair grow like crazy or maybe it just retained more length.. I’m not sure but my hair was definitely long, think, healthy and moisturized! Literally every week I would do one or two of the treatments listed below. Hot oil treatment: under the dryer Glycerin, coconut oil, castor oil and almond oil Protein treatment - under the dryer Honey, mayo, eggs and alma powder. (Sometimes I’d also use henna and avocado and banana) Mask treatment - under the dryer Bentonite clay and I think I used either water or acv. 😅 I can’t remember Greenhouse treatment - every two weeks Just putting oils in my hair, a shower cap with lots of bags and wrapped a scarf around my head. I would literally be in class with my hair in treatment but nobody knew.. 😂😂😂 except for the occasional oil drip down my face. How I moisturized my hair: Shea butter Coconut oil Aloe Vera plant Cantu leave in conditioner I tried making my own flaxseed gel but I didn’t like the way my hair felt after it dried. Unfortunately I ended up dying my hair myself which damage it and I chopped it all off. Next time I won’t be cheap and go back to the salon. Hopefully the treatments above will help someone. Hair type: 4c and 4b in some sections Porosity: mostly low
This works! But you can shorten the routine: Cowash to wet for clay mask, protein conditioner (ors or aphogee), conditioning mask, coconut oil while you blow dry. Less than $50 in product that lasts months
I used to watch her videos about four years ago and I tried the Cherry Lola treatment but unfortunately I wasn't consistent. It was very cleansing and very moisturizing
OMG, the cons out weigh the pros. I am a 4b/c girl and definitely struggle with moisture and length retention. But this is just way to time consuming, thanks for sharing! Btw your hair and makeup look absolutely beautiful!
I am deathly afraid of using baking soda on my hair because of its ph. I have seen several modifications of this method that don't include baking soda, but the time commitment is also a major deterrent for me. As others have mentioned, hydration can increase with more frequent cowashing. Perhaps a regimen of frequent cowashing, regular clarifying and frequent deep conditioning could help achieve maximum hydration.
baking soda and clay should never be in hair period. I'm not sure why so many youtubers are out here spreading this BS... it makes zero sense. Water is the only thing that hydrates the hair and avoiding heavy products that block out the moisture(aka water) from penetrating the hair shaft is what gets hair hydrated.
This is like the most thorough and detailed video of MHM I’ve seen, thank you! I barely understood what it was before but I saw a few others do it. And even then, they didn’t really explain why what was done or why something is needed as well as you did! I don’t know if I can commit to this. Doing it once sounds exhausting but do-able, but for a month or two....IDK LOL.
Going to try this. My hair has been dry because I’ve been neglecting it and my favorite leave in I moisturize with has been discontinued. I like that you explain everything thoroughly!
please don't do this to your hair, the PH of baking soda is so extreme it'll break off your hair, there's a reason why baking soda is used as a household cleaning ingredient
I have been planning to try this for a while.. I think I will go for it this summer! I am a try it all once type of natural 😂 methods I've tried out of boredom: inversion method, ky jelly, mayo eggs and honey, prepoo, handheld steamer, acv rinse.. I am determined to try this. U gotta make the time to ask your hair what she needs and she will reward you. I am so inspired by your channel! Please continue ❤️
I've been using this method, but i skip steps one and two. so pretty much what i do is rinse my hair with water, then the clay mask, then oil, then the diluted leave in, then the gel. I've learned that you cannot leave out the gel when starting off. (someone said after a while you won't need the gel) but i recommend doing it until fully hydrated. Also, make sure your gel is all natural. I use TGIH's brand of gel, do not use eco styling gel. You have to be picky about which gel you use because otherwise, your hair will shed dramatically. you will see results after 2 days, but of course, it looks better the longer you do it. I like this method.
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT video!!! 🙌🏾🎉 I've watch over 50 videos on this method over the past hmmm...I'll say 5 years (and nothing as detailed as this with OPTIONS & I am excited!); I've tried modified versions with 'some' good results, but not ideal and that's on me because I absolutely REFUSE to apply baking soda to my hair simply because of its abrasive properties. I also don't use ACV, I use white vinegar and STILL achieved good results, the smell of ACV was just TOO much for me to bear & white vinegar is more tolerable to me smell-wise. But now with the new knowledge of Castile soap versus baking soda, this may be a game changer for me, I will of course do a skin test first, if my skin tolerates it (I have VERY sensitive skin) then it will be a go👍🏾 for me. Also I'm DO NOT and WILL NOT do ALL that detangling that's wayyyy too much manipulation, I don't detangle until I apply the clay mask and that worked well for me, I simply apply product to my hair and allow it to clump how it feels. I'm off for the next 5 days so this fell right in place for me. I MAY do this everyday for the next 5 days because I'm off, because I'm not about that daily wash life or sleeping with wet hair either, Once I go back to work it may be every 3 days that's just more realistic to me and besides I'm not in a rush, it'll come when it will come. 😊🙂Thx soooo much; I will definitely have to come back and do an update as to how well it works. I remember how popping my curls were with the clay when I was using it on a regular basis and then I fell off and moved on to the next shiny thing, but I'm back on the MHM train☺️😁👍🏾 for now anyway 😂😆😂 #NOBAKINGSODA #NODAILYWASHING #DETANGLING1TIMEONLY
You are so pretty and your hair is gorgeous! I’m so glad I found you! My daughter has hair EXACTLY like yours ( porosity, density, curl pattern, length, etc. ) and I’ve been struggling to find an exact method that works for her, bc of all the different videos on different porosities and hair types, and now FINALLY I’ve found what works! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve been binge watching your videos all day haha! 😘
I do a modified MHM: bi-weekly clarifying shampoo, deep condition with heat, leave in, creme, seal with gel. (Pre-poo & protein treatment monthly.) Bi-weekly moisturizing shampoo, moisturizing conditioner, LCO.
Your reviews are so thorough! Ppl talk about how amazing this is but dont touch on the drawbacks w/ using thr baking soda. I wonder if the founder of this method experienced issues.
I have always had the driest hair, so the MHM intrigued me years ago. My doesn't tolerate baking soda (learned the hard way), so I did a modified version. I did daily wngs and rhassoul clay treaments for one week. My hair was super defined and moisturized. I never thought to use castille soap in place of baking soda. May have to revisit this this Summer. Thanks for the breakdown and tips!
TheHixMixTV Thank you for sharing. I am also thinking of trying daily co washes for a week or two...did you also do the clay treatments daily during that time?
@@jhambrick27 Sure! Yes, I used clarifying shampoo on the first day, after that clay washes (like Teressentials), then used Kinky Curly Custard and Knot Today leave-in. These days I would use a more moisturizing leave-in by Miche Beauty. Hope this helps!
Good vidoe.....I heard that baking sode is a natural perm/relaxer and too much will break ur hair off jus like a relaxer I do this method w/o baking soda still affective and using good oils on ur scalp
Great video, very informative. Like many have said, it appears time consuming to do everyday - even every 3 days (especially when you work a full time job and have a family). I’m thinking this is a guide to what can be used on your hair to achieve maximum moisture. I did a ‘version’ today, starting at 12 something and finishing around 5:30. I didn’t do it step by step nor did I use every ingredient mentioned. Currently (my hair is 80% dry) my curls are popping but the true results will be after it dries seeing how I struggle with puffy roots. Will check back 😉.
Skip all that and shingle your freshly washed hair in small sections using Kinky Curly gel. Shingle in more gel the next day if your hair soaks it up the first day. Beware though, the gel does not mix well with many products. I've been shingling my hair for 2 years with just the gel and a light leave in spray conditioner. My hair and my curls love it!
Kristen Harris I got contact dermatitis from this product due to the glycerin. My skin has never recovered; my back is black and my neck is flaky . It’s not for everyone.
I've never tried the MHM, but am curious... Might try it this summer. I do wonder how realistic it is to reap those benefits over the long term though.
I have not always had low porosity hair. I have curl definition, I would like my hair to retain moisture for more than 1 day. I may try some of these like earlier comments this is a lot.
I'm working on it!! But then what after day 7? 🤔. I love to see the curl definition 😍. On my 2nd try, I used a different product and saw residue... what would that mean? Incorrect ingredients??
If you complete the max hydration method and continue with your normal hair routine will the results from the MHM last? Will your curl pattern remain defined with the upkeep or will it revert?
Enjoying your videos but im bit confused..You first said earlier in the video to do the conditioning before the clay mask but later you said that its important to do a deep condition after bentonite clay hair mask. But earlier you said just put a leave in after the bentonite??
I heard this method helps your hair grow faster because it kinds stretches the hair out and allows the sebum to go down the hair shaft. It needs some modifications to be better because certain ingredients are too harsh. CurlMix products can do the same thing without manipulating pH. It's a really pretty look though, just like kinky curly hair extensions.
I find that a good routine every 3 days will max hydrate your hair over time. Mine is an: -oil prepoo (overnight) -coconut milk and lemon mask -cleanse -deep conditioner -style My curls enhance and clump even w every wash day . My girls are slowly turning into waves
ALL THESE STEPS HAVE PUT ME OFF. I like To keep it SIMPLE. GOT KIDS AND A JOB NOT TIME. I JUST DRINK LOT OF WATER , HYDRATE MY HAIR EVERY 2 days with ALOE VERA JUICE .

100% correct. Everything has a reason. The reason some people have dry, undefined curls and coils is that they have not properly cared for their hair. Hair which has suffered from ineffective "treatment" for so long that it could take 30 days or more to restore its moisture and luster. After that happens such intensive care is not necessary.
