Faith without works is empty/dead, works are the product of faith!.True faith produces fruits of the spirit (mercy.patience, love, ect) which are converted into good works/deeds.You can not please God if you do not have faith but you must bear fruit as well to be accepted into God's kingdom. The tree that don't bear fruit is going to be cut down and thrown into the fire, that is a biblical fact and truth!.Faith and works are linked together as proof of a Christian commitment with God and evidence of Christ Lordship in his life.FAITH PRODUCE GOOD WORKS AND GOOD WORKS ARE THE EVIDENCE OF TRUE ,GENUINE AND SAVING FAITH!.

Mike, great video. I wanted to point something out that almost everyone misses in Genesis 15. I don't even remember who pointed it out to me but it was really interesting. In verse 5 when God tells Abraham to count the stars if he can it was not dark yet so Abraham couldn't even see the stars yet but he still believed they were there. Notice the sun doesn't even start to go down until verse 12 and hadn't set until verse 17.

    • @godlysnowboarder77
      @godlysnowboarder77 3 года назад +2

Attending church is not required for salvation. Max is right, faith in Jesus's attonement for our sins is the only requirement initially. BUT.... it is a good idea to find a church. There are many benefits with becoming a member/regular attende at a local church. Once you find a church that you feel comfortable at (of course a church that is biblically based) you will be able to become apart of a local church family. You will have a support system. People you can pray with. People to hold you in their prayers. People you can have Godly fellowship with. People to help you grow spiritually. You will have access to speak with pastors to get advice. You will have people to hold you accountable in your spiritual growth. Help you stay on the right path. It is not a requirement for salvation but it is highly recommended to find a local church to attend 😀

People say salvation is not by works but then they say you can lose your salvation by bad works. I don’t get it? Why does the entire book of Galatians say it’s by grace through faith, period, and then finish by saying what SOUNDS like if you do sins of the flesh you won’t inherit the kingdom of God? Since the Bible does say it’s a gift not of works, and it cannot contradict itself, what am I missing?
People answer me by saying “he meant if you practice sin” but like am I the only one who sins every day??

Practicing sin is sinning as a lifestyle and indicator of no salvation
Falling into sin while still living on a corrupt earth *although* believing just puts you in the same boat as Abraham, David, Peter, Paul, etc.
Remember Jesus DIED to make salvation possible for poor, stupid, corrupt mankind IF THEY ONLY BELIEVE and if anybody makes it too hard/conditional they are crucifying Him again and probably excluding even our forefathers in faith from their inheritance

It makes sense that we are restored to God by faith and believing God since we are separated from him because we don't believe or trust him (in the garden "Did God really say..?). Also, if circumcision is required for salvation only men would be in heaven. I sure hope not!

L Morter even in the Old Testament it was a Circumcision of the Heart. The outward circumcision is a symbol of the inward Circumcision of the heart. Rom 2:28-29; Deut 30:6; Gal 3:26; Jer 4:4; Eph 2:8-9... there is many more verses on this. Basically physical Circumcision is symbolic and you must perfectly keep the law for it to matter however true Circumcision is a matter of the heart and having a heart for God and Christ so it is for everyone.

Pablo Correa I don’t want to put words in his mouth, but I would think that he would want you to search the scriptures for your self. Some are called to teach and pastor and others have different callings/gifts. There is nothing wrong with listening to a teacher give a sermon on sound doctrine. The problem is solely relying on a teacher for your salvation.

Which law, written or oral? Who can and cannot obey? Who was called to the law of God and who was excised (Messianic Jew or Gentile christian? Are either of these two forbidden or may we voluntarily observe? Of the 613 laws, two thirds were contingent to the temple and priestly culture. Of the other third, how many of the 'forever...' commands and the ' Through out your generations' stop meaning forever and as ' long as one Jew still exists you must obey'? If we question 'forever' here as until Jesus comes, then we must question whether or not your forever salvation is only temporary! Instead of placing the law in either legal, moral or ceremony categories, rather, who was called to the law (Jew or Gentile, male or female); upon what is it contingent

Please don’t take me wrong. Our family is Jewish but my great great grandparents converted to Christianity in the 1800’s during the migration. However, an informed Jew will not say that father Abraham was saved because he was a good man, so I think Mike is mistaken there and in many other instances. So, back with the “teacher” thing, unless we actually do a thorough research, we may just end up “repeating” what Mike is mistakenly affirming as truth. It’s very puzzling.

  • @lindarobey8935

Abraham didn't go to heaven....no OT saint went to heaven. Before the resurrection of Christ, the OT saints went to Sheol (what was called Abraham's bosom/paradise in Luke 16). Sheol was the "place of the dead" and it was divided into two parts by a chasm. Hades (hell) was where the wicked dead went and paradise/Abraham's bosom was where the righteous dead went. There was no "regeneration" in the OT, so the saints were called "righteous", not saved as we know salvation today.

Genesis 15:6 And he (Abram) believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
The Mosaic Law was temporary (until Christ) and was not given to the nation of Israel for salvation. The purpose of the Mosaic Law was to prepare Israel for the coming of Christ (Galatians 3:19-25).

The bible has several passages that teach us what sin is. Violating God's laws (ten commandments), violating the law of love, law of faith, not doing good when we know we ought to, not being thankful, not rejoicing, not following through on our "yes" and "no", etc. The Holy Spirit guides our conscience towards the truth. If you are sinning, then indeed you need to repent. Selfishness and slothfulness are not fruits of the Spirit, but Jesus is merciful and is ready to forgive and has forgiven men of all sin. What is the Gospel?
If a sincere Jew has laid down his works righteousness before they die, do they go upstairs or downstairs?
The correct answer is that they go upstairs, because regeneration precedes faith.
Does a person have to affirm certain facts about Christ and the Resurrection? No, they don’t. Why? Because according to Romans 10 and Joel 2, the LORD is the proper object of saving faith, not propositions about God, Christ, etc. The sum and substance of the Gospel has not changed since the days of Adam.

      Sorry for long response.
Yeshua is the name yes but Jesus is just how u we refer to him now. Different languages have that effect. I come from jewish background myself and I hope I can help u here. There are some messianic Jews (maybe the majority) who put alot of focus on this stuff with good intentions. You have to remember the Roman Catholic church that came after the original churches became very corrupt and filled with pagan ideas and partly as a result their treatment of the Jews was terrible. I think many of the messianic congregations see this and feel it should be fixed. And to be fair their right on many points, but not all. I would challenge u to read ur bible with an open mind and see where the holy spirit takes u. I noticed someone mentioned the festivals. I would like to say that if u don't celebrate them you are Not Going to hell. That is foolish. But my question for you is why not celebrate them? These were days not made by men. These aren't man made traditions. But days God ordained to be celebrations of his love for us. His story for us. These days had and have representations of things to come both from 2000 years ago when Jesus came, and for his 2nd coming. That is why Paul correctly says they are a shadow of things yet still to come. He spoke in the present tense for a reason. Please don't feel you have to do these things no more then you have to join a small bible study group. But the benefits can be great if you do. I hope this helps any confusion that my somewhat zealous brothers and sisters might have brought upon you. May God bless you. Oh and please don't think that spelling out God is bad... I shake my head everytime I hear them say this. To use God's name in vain isn't spelling it out but attributing something to his name that is not of him at all... think of the inquisition or the crusades. They were done in God's name.... that is using his name in vain.

I've been born again most of my life. (Not Catholic, but my Dad was married to a Catholic after divorce from my mom. So, pretty familiar with the gist of, but not at all in agreement with that .) And so have they all been saved. My in laws. My issue is, Christians, saved by grace alone giving that up to place themselves under Law. Because that's what they've embraced. Reenacting Jewish traditions to enjoy and learn is one thing, but to play act a Jewish lifestyle in your private life when you're not Jewish is fantasy role play. God's law is written on our hearts. Jesus' D, B, and R was enough.

Barbara Benner hey yes I completely understand that, and I just realized u specifically mentioned the Hebrew roots movement which is in my humble opinion the extreme wing of the overall messianic movement. I just hope you dont think they are the standard for the avg messianic. I would also like to add for the festivals that God told the Jews to invite any gentiles among them to these festivals to partake in them. He also said the festivals are a statue forever. In the case of a couple of them he even said they are the same in heaven. Which when u think about it this isn't a jewish tradition in the way you think but God'd traditions. It's quite beautiful when you consider that. Agian this isn't to make you feel like if you dont do them you are angering God or not saved, nor does it put you under the Law of you do them. No more then trying not to lie or get so angry with people is putting yourself under the law. It's the relationship that God wants. Which I believe we both know.

In 36 instances in the Tahlmud Jesus is blasphemed. In one instance the author brags about the jews killing Jesus and that they would do it again and lastly declared that Jesus's blood be upon them and their children. How then can a Christian use the Tahlmud??? They cannot outside of ignorance.

It's directly related, because it specifically talks of the difference between _faith_ (Christianity) and _action_ (Judaism: the Law). Abraham believed and it was accounted unto him as righteousness, but it was his willingness to take the first action to sacrifice his own firstborn son that _most likely_ brought about the Abrahamic Covenant. So we see that faith and action were working together to bring about righteousness and eventually salvation. God was willing to sacrifice His own firstborn Son when Abraham showed that he was faithful in offering God the same thing.

If one reads Matthew 5 in its own context then you can clearly see that in that set of verses (The Sermon on the Mount) that Jesus is actually preaching something much more akin to Rabbinical Judaism. He expands the law. He never even implies that it is grace through faith that saves. Actually when you look closely at it...reflect on whether the author of Matthew and Paul actually have the same theology. This may be a clue that the New Testament may not be quite as cohesive as some believe. If you study the codes of Orthodox Judaism you will see that In Matthew Jesus is "building a fence around the Torah" which is exactly how Orthodox Jews approach it. That way you make it even more difficult to violate God's commandments. Paul is preaching something very different.

    • @kevinwynn6582

Joshua, You are right Jesus is expanding the law in the sermon on the mount. He said that unless our righteousness surpassed that of the scribes and Pharisees we could not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Paul is not at odds with Jesus's teaching he is trying to tell us how we can live Jesus's teaching. Jesus taught us to love each other the way He loved us. Paul is saying that through faith in Christ we can receive the Grace to actually do that.

Jesus says "go and be perfect like your Father in Heaven." If He was preaching what you say, then nobody would go to Heaven, because none of us are perfect like our Father in Heaven. We all fall short of that standard... which is precisely what Paul says in Romans 3:23. None of us meet that standard, so we need something more in order to be perfected.

This whole faith without work is such BS and misleading. Where in the OT after the revelation at Sinai are works not necessary? The key here is after Sinai. Whatever happened before Sinai has no bearing on Jewish commandments or law. Jewish people’s service of G-d comes from what was given at Sinai: a written and oral law.
How often in the prophets do the prophets tell the people to change how they are acting. You really need to understand that Sinai changed the people of Israel’s relationship with G-d. Sinai introduced commandments. By living a life according to the commandments that is how you obtain a relationship with G-d. Faith is important but it is not the only thing. According to what you are saying I could be a murderer but just by believing in Jesus, I am saved? How does that make sense?
One more thing Mike, I would love to see a debate between you and Rabbi Tovia Singer.

Mike, have you ever talked to a Jew (a knowledgeable one) as to why we don't accept the Christian message (or any other faith for that matter)? You are presupposing that Paul is telling the truth. Why do you trust him? Think about this: It is possible that the New Testament AND Hebrew Bible are true, or both false, BUT it is NOT possible that the New Testament true and the Hebrew Bible false. Remember, you began your Christian walk with a belief, not with the Hebrew Bible. Don't assume, because Paul says we have veils over our eyes, that he is telling the truth. Please give the Jewish perspective a chance before coming to your conclusion. If you'd like to chat more, I'd be happy to. One note about Abraham's righteousness through faith...this was an action. In fact, it is the first of the Ten Commandments. Like all other commandments in the Torah, they all require a certain amount of "action." Again, Paul takes this verse out of context and/or misunderstands what it is telling us.

Danny Harper I am in Israel and I have spoken with several Jews (mid to late 20s). They all say something in common: they were forbidden to be affiliated with anyone and anything about Jesus or the New Testament by their parents and teachers. Both the Old and New Testament are written through the inspiration of God's Spirit (Holy Spirit). Don't you think that God is powerful enough to give us a book? Read the New Testament with faith and an open mind instead of reading it with a made up mind to reject it.

What you call the father is our g-d but you've replaced him with Jesus. Number #3 blood sacrifices were not for all sins but mostly for sins that were unintentional. That means if you committed a sin willfully, you can't bring a sacrifice and you would need to repent. The Tanach states that in the times of exile after the destruction of the temple g-d said that you can speak to me. Anyways, sacrifices are considered the worst for of atonement after repenting, changing your ways and asking for forgiveness. So what we have instead is to pray 3 times a day. Your Jing James bible writes "a body I've prepared for you." Referring to the body of Jesus. When the hebrew words are actually oznayim karisah lee which means "my ears you have opened referring to prayer. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

I have commented on his judgement over the witnesses and the New World Translation.
The NWT answers to all the critics that Mike has on translations and also it defends its position usually in the appendix .
Besides that: stuff like being saved by grace etc i have commented too also like with James : Indeed, as the body without spirit* is dead,+ so also faith without works is dead.+
      james 2
For I bear them witness* that they have a zeal+ for God; but not according to accurate knowledge;+ 3 for, because of not knowing the righteousness of God+ but seeking to establish their own,+ they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.+ 4 For Christ is the end* of the Law,+ so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.+
      romans 10
the witnesses have a faith with works but are not saved by those works : it would be assumptious to do so : but they like to slave . why? because Jehovah is going to change this worl form old to new .
And Mike is always picturing the witnesses wrong.
(Now concerning foods offered to idols:*)+ we know we all have knowledge.+ Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.+ 2 If anyone thinks he has acquired knowledge of something,+ he does not yet know [it] just as he ought to know [it].+ 3 But if anyone loves God,+ this one is known by him.+
