Hello, I am from Calcutta, India. I tried this recipe of yours for my wife's birthday. It is simply fabulous! Your recipes are simple, instructions to the point, videos concise and succinct. You make baking look so easy. Very organized and methodical your recipes are. Thank you so very much for your wonderful recipes. Please keep up the good work.
Hi! Thank you so so much! This is one of the kindest comments I have ever received! :) I am very glad that you like and enjoy my recipes. Thank you for your words and encouragement 🌼
I tried this recipe yesterday and it tasted so so good with ice cream! I had a smaller pie pan so I halved the recipe and it turned out so perfect! I like the fact that the apples were grated too so it’s easier to eat unlike canned fillings where the apples are in big pieces💗
Thank you! I am very glad you liked it! :) 🌼 I never use canned fillings. It takes a bit more time to make a dessert but it is well worth it in the end :)
Thank you for the recipe! Every time I'm making apple crumble pie I'm coming back to this video - which is always useful! One thing I added: musli (or oats) and almond flakes to the crumble, for extra taste and crunch :) oh, and a little bit of cinnamon in the crumble too, I found it more delicious this way :) Thanks again!
Really nice video, nice music, appreciate the NO TALKING, all is good.the crumble is great looking, i love this whole thing. I discover for the 1st time you can melt butter for crumble,me stupid i always break my fingers with cold butter to make is crumbelly. Thnks
I have also been doing things the hard way but one way or another, we learn from each other :) I am glad that the video was helpful! Thank you for your nice comment! 🌼
And one more thing, i will never make an apple crumble without using shell. Many suggested it ok, i was too lazy to go deep in, putting shell below all the good stuff. This will never happen again as i somehow just watching your video addmited to me......apple crumble looks soooo much better with a shell/crust. Thanks for a reply
I agree that apple crumble looks much better with the crust but when i want to make something fast, crumble without crust works just as well :) Have a lovely day!
Last thing i want to add...it doesn't matter who you are baking this crumble for, the rule of "you need to please the eyys if you want to please the stomach" overruns all. I prefer looks. Looks sell. Great look in everything makes world turn around smoother, hehe. I will never, ever bake crumble without shell. Thank you for you kind reactions.
It looks delicious,i ever made crumble for my apple cake but it was melted & mixed turn to cake.i dont know whats wrong with it,but i add milk flour & egg for the crumble.
Not too bad. I have made it. I do prefer the french version where you do have the slices of apples on the top and the cream. One thing that I will improve the crumbs are way to big. I will do it again and improve this part. I added one Tbsp of vanilla extract. Beside that, not too bad. Thanks for sharing.
I have never tried it with powdered sugar, but i think that it has to be granulated. Amount of powdered sugar would be different for sure and i think that texture wouldn't be the same. Thank you for your kind words and nice comment 🌼
@@BakingFusion hello i just tried it with powdered light brown sugar and i would say it was good!! Like it didn't look so different from the texture you got except that while eating you could feel some crunchiness under your teeth because my powdered brown sugar has these small bits that never get crushedd Overall it. Was. Amazinggg my family and i really liked it alot definitely will be trying it again 😊😊
@@deemaziad5476 Great! I am glad it turned out so good :) Next time maybe try it with granulated sugar, i think you would like it even more! :) Crumble is always made with granulated sugar, it should be a bit crunchy but it's not sugar that gives crunchiness by itself but caramelised chunks of flour and butter. You can't get that with powdered sugar and it's what makes crumble amazing :) 🌼
@@BakingFusion Mmmm... enough with your description! I want to make it ! Hahaha👏🏼😋 Tomorrow it's a great excuse to make it(mother's day), so let's see what happens 😄 Thank you so much! Have a nice Sunday!
@@BakingFusion I see. Will definitely try out your recipe looks delicious! :)) made some underwhelming apple pies recently so looking to step my game up. Might just have to go for that heaping teaspoon though, love cinnamon haha.
@@BakingFusion Hey! Haven't got around to it yet, but might try my luck soon so I can perfect it and make one for Easter :)) Will update this thread then!
It would't be a problem to use it in a crust because you could adjust the salt but there is no salt in a crumble so you can't really use salted butter 🌼
Hello. I will make it tomorrow but i do not have a weighing scale. Can I get it's measurement using cups and tablespoons? 😊 sorry if i have too much questions
@@lyssalaurelledeguzman7665 Hi! :) It's not a problem, i am here to help :)🌼 Here are the measurements apple pie crust: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut in cubes 8-10 tbsp ice water apple pie filling: 7-8 apples, peeled and grated 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp light brown sugar 3 tbsp all-purpose flour 2 tsp cinnamon powder 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder 1 tbsp lemon juice crumble: 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 3/4 cup light brown sugar 1/2 cup - 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
Not hard at all, just not something that we usually do in Europe :) But since you are so kind, i am glad to help apple pie crust: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut in cubes 8-10 tbsp ice water apple pie filling: 7-8 apples, peeled and grated 4.5 oz light brown sugar 1 oz all-purpose flour 2 tsp cinnamon powder 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder 1 tbsp lemon juice crumble: 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 3/4 cup light brown sugar 3.5 oz butter, melted and cooled
This recipe wasn’t the right one to follow me more so for 2 reasons. -when you grate the apples they shrink down even more in the oven so it just because like a custard. A mushy mess. Seems out and no volume to it.. just wasn’t good. Cut them into slices or chunks. -this recipe never steams the apples over heat so you don’t get them maximizing their taste. You really should steam them and then add spices to let them diffuse and carmalize I feel like I wasted a lot of money and ingredients on this recipe I ended up throwing it away... lesson learned.
The recipe is perfect :) And it turned out perfect for so many people many times. Just because you were doing things wrong it's not nice to blame it on a great recipe. You got a mushy mess cos you didn't follow instructions and you probably didn't squeeze out the excess juice from grated apples. There is plenty of volume as you can see in the video. Second, apples don't need to be steamed. They are perfectly caramelised in the oven. Pie is extremely delicious and flavorful. I am sorry that recipe didn't work out for you. I can't know all the things that you did wrong but i am willing to help if you decide to make it again 🌼

Can l replace butter with olive oil instead
No, you can't do that. Taste and texture would be totally different
Can we use fuji apple?
Yes, of course 🌼

Can I use margarine that I use for cakes or does it have to be butter?

I'd like to make this pie but I have one question: is the crust crunchy or moist? 😄

It looked like a lot more cinnamon in the filling than 2 teaspoons, was quite the heap in the video. Is this in fact correct?

Hi :) caramel syrup goes very nice with it so you can garnish with that 🌼
Do you use salt butter or no salt butter? Thank you
I use unsalted butter (no salt). I forgot to write it in the recipe. Thank you!
Is egg necessary
There are no eggs in this recipe 🌼
hi! is it okay if i cut the apples instead of grating them?
